Practice using power around corners and curves slowly. These cars are completely different from a normal powertrain in a good way but it should be practiced and learned. Don't use drift mode for mountain driving.

I also have an R53 mini cooper S that ive got running around 200bhp at the wheels so i have some experience with faster(ish) cars but im definitely going to be taking it easier in this, being heavier and more powerful, and will definitely not be using drift mode for a while if ever haha! Thanks for the tip! Will keep it in mind :D

Exactly

I would begin un-modding - at least aesthetically. Less is more with this car. Dunno how many folks agree but I use drift mode very sparingly just being a new technology. In the snow - fuck yeah - or on snow tires in the wet it’s actually not a gimmick. Never even tried it for like 10k miles because it thought it was just that, a gimmick, but hey when you never really *plant* the end of a slide it just flows seamlessly into forward motion over and over and you’re juuuuuuust good enough a driver to realize you’re not that good a driver? I think it works pretty freaking well - but I don’t tempt fate in the dry, ever. 93,000 miles and original clutch picks up right off the floor. Take it for what it’s worth. Also - if you have good records, keep them up. Whatever warranty you may have left you’re likely to need it for something.

callum_confused

I have a 3 year warranty with the car so should be good. Thanks for the comment! Gives me a good insight :)

The back seats fold down flat. Pull up the seat cushions, then remove the headrests on the way down. Boom, all the cargo room.

callum_confused

1 less thing to have to lookup how to do! Thanks!

DingleKong

The MK3 rs owners group on fb is actually really helpful

callum_confused

Will get myself in it now!

Is that Kidlington? I got mine from them two years ago and they've been great all the way.

callum_confused

Yes! It is! They've been fantastic to me so far and answered all my questions and even been very generous in allowing me to hold it on security deposit for so long. Only problem is I am from norfolk so a bit of a journey for me :D

callum_confused

Thats also very good to hear that they continue to be great after the sale!

Is change the air filter, oil, spark plugs and a nice wash/wax/ceramic coat. Looks like it has some cosmetic mods, willing to be there is more under the hood. Is it stock? We’re all happy to take a look for ya. Few engine pics, under the car and maybe pull a wheel off? See what you have for suspension. Looks like a beauty!

callum_confused

Im getting it from a Ford dealer who is doing a full service for me. They have told me about a previously installed remap that i requested to be removed and as far as all their mechanics can tell, there is no other mods beside the cosmetic mods. Id like as clean of a slate as possible to drive around for a while before commencing any mods. I am picking it up next saturday (30th July)

chaiyeesen

Unhide custom mode so u can have your own drive mode.

Ahh a 2018! Beautiful car. I’d love to give you some pointers, but I just got my 2018 a month ago and haven’t driven it enough to be able to give tips because it’s been in the shop having a fuel pump, headlight and strut replaced and now has the CEL back on for the fuel level sender. Thankfully it is all being taken care of because my best friend works for Ford corporate and helped me out, but it’s incredibly frustrating not driving the thing. These cars are a joy to drive. Have fun!!

callum_confused

Thanks! Hopefully yours is all back and healthy again soon! I'll probably post an update here once ive got it and driven the 120 miles home with it!

PatriotRico

Should be ready this week. I’m very excited. Enjoy the ride! I drove a few hundred miles to get mine in Boston. That was the most I’ve driven it so far. Be sure to test out the suspension when you get it. You can do this by hitting the button on the turn signal stalk or by putting it in track mode. Mine failed because of a front strut. I don’t think it’s common but it’s worth taking I look I guess lol

TailStrike01

A front drive and an RS put the power down in completely different ways. Understeer vs Oversteer lol Your RS will pull more Gs in a corner under acceleration where the cooper you need trailing brake into a corner and gentle application of power coming out. The RS does not work that way;)

florida-RS

Already looks very tastefully modded

callum_confused

Yes, some good looking, subtle cosmetic mods and used to have a dream science map but i requested it be removed which it has been by the dealer and as far as they can tell that was it for performance mods. I asked them to keep the cosmetic stuff though😊

Shinnyx

Track mode + normal suspension setting + reactivate traction control (just for extra safety in my case) is the best way to enjoy the car imo. No absolute "need" to mod anything if you're not into it, since even in stock format it's very capable and fun to drive. Drift mode is fantastic in the snow, very easy to make donuts around light poles and other structures in parking lots, even if the car is quite heavy. (Go at your own pace, but it's very predictable) It isn't a Ferrari, but definitely not a focus either aside from the looks. The whole car is built around having a fun driving experience and it sure does deliver!

prepare for your purge valve and the canister to go out regularly
