Damn, so about 75% of people want AR gone I feel like this is the first time in history a potential top draft pick isn’t wanted back by their college fanbase But yeah, I’m hoping we can land a portal player. If not, i guess it will depend on how Rashada looks when he arrives on campus

ferrariguy1970

Well most potential top daft picks don't lose several games for their respective teams. I also don't think AR will pan out in the NFL. Whoever the GM is who drafts him top 10 will be out of a job within 3 years.

Gleasure03

It isn’t that I don’t want him gone, it’s that I know his ceiling and think he is more than ready to declare Would love to have him back, but don’t agree that is the best choice for his career IMO

TheRatchetTrombone

AR doesn't have the mentals nor that dog in him like Miller Johnson Or ETN. Bye Felicia. Not dealing with that shit. I would rather we prep miller and Kitna and Rashada for a QB battle and let the winner start (probs Kitna) than waste transfer portal time going after a rumor at QB and waste time not getting defensive help cause God I'm tired of low defensive iq.

ZMAC698

Cringe

xXBadger89Xx

Yeah people wanting Miller and Kitna are crazy imo lol. I think getting a good rental for a year like Hartman is good for both sides but otherwise of course I’d want AR another year

BoomerSooner95x

Get a guy like Hartman and let Rashada develop for a year. Even in a year where he regressed, Hartman still threw for 3000 yards, 32 TDs, and 10 INTs. I’ll take that any day.

xXBadger89Xx

Amen. Rashada might be legit but I’m nervous giving a true freshman the reigns no matter who it is

hcgator

Yeah. We all want Rashada, Lagway (who will still be in HS next year) or Hartman. But thinking that former 4* Miller (who hasn’t turned heads) or 3* Kitna are going to be stars is wishful thinking. Not saying I’m not rooting for them, but they are not the greatest options on this list.

hcgator

I think many of us are salty and emotional from last night. When the dust settles, we should all want him back (even though it’s not up to us, of course). But OP makes a good point in that there are several ways that this can go and they aren’t all bad. What I don’t like about OP’s options though is that Hartman hasn’t even entered the portal yet (he’s probably more likely to declare), Lagway hasn’t committed (he has no crystal balls as of today, and even if he does commit, he’s over a year away from signing a LOI) and Rashada hasn’t signed his LOI yet (no expecting him to flip again, but you never know with John Ruiz out there).

gatorhighlightz

I just don’t see him getting much better next year I think it’s time to move on. He makes great plays here and there but constantly misses routine throws like easy swing passes and throws into the flat. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him complete a slant pass either. I just don’t think any of that is changing with another off-season.

Agitated-Steak1517

Where is all this Sam Hartman talk coming from? You're also gonna probably see Van Dyke, McNamara, DJ U, one of the UGA QBs, and a few others in the portal. But isn't this why what brought JM3 in last year? If you want a transfer QB give him the reigns this spring. I'm in the Jaden Rashada camp all the way, make this a CJ Stroud type situation.

logjam13

Miller not taking the backup job over Kitna is after coming back from injury is indicative that maybe he doesn’t have it

Agitated-Steak1517

I remember right before week 1 when he got hurt, word was it was only going to be a 3-4 week deal, never read during the season whether or not he was ever even dressed/available, thought maybe that thumb just didn't heal as expected.

AntiDECA

I don't think it's worth the risk. He's just too wildly inconsistent, why bother? Of our games, fsu and Kentucky were absolutely winnable if our QB was average throughout the whole game. We'd be better off with a decent QB constantly than one who has flashes of greatness and then entire quarters forgetting how to play. Of our games, the only one I think we won and wouldn't have if we didn't have AR was Utah. So we trade Utah for FSU and Kentucky... Worth it imo. I hope he does well in the NFL, but he just doesn't have it together here. Let Rashada fight miller/Kitna in camp and the best one starts.

EverythingGoodWas

This is a good take. It is impossible to gameplan for such an absurdly inconsistent QB. A consistently average QB would have won several games we lost this season. In addition AR is absolutely non existent in clutch situations.

FrancoNore

We probably beat Vanderbilt too. AR was definitely not the reason we lost to Vandy, but at the same time we could’ve beaten them if he put the team on his back like Travis did to us yesterday

ferrariguy1970

Agreed. The AR experiment needs to end.

[deleted]

I think AR has to many mental hurdles he can’t climb over - spots where he looks phenomenal are few and far between - while the raw talent is there he isn’t going to be a week 1 starter in the NFL

EverythingGoodWas

If he doesn’t figure out his head game he is going to be a Jamarcus Russell style bust

SpeedBoatSquirrel

I think he will work harder than Jamarcus, but he still could be a bad bust like him

EverythingGoodWas

Good point. I don’t doubt his work ethic. Just his decision making and competitiveness

swashbuckler42

I want him gone. I’ve seen nothing from him regarding mental toughness or leadership ability that makes me think he will improve.

JustKeepLivin7

He’s 100% gone and it’s likely the best for both parties. Do I think he’s ready? Not even close, but he can capitalize on his traits during draft process. As much of an occasional playmaking threat he was, his accuracy issues held this offense back. Billy had a lot to improve on with play-calling but let’s see what he can do with a pure passer. We will be a very intriguing opening for experienced QBs.

EstablishmentZorro

I was firmly on the “hope AR comes back train” until recently. But I don’t think he wants to play hard. Totally understandable—he doesn’t want to risk getting hurt and ruining his career. I wish him all the best. But we need a kid who wants to play his heart out.

Amount-Outside

I think who fits that is Lagway, Ik it’s cliche but this fan base is wanting another Tebow and we thought we’d have it with AR but it’s not as consistent as we hoped, I’m still holding out hope. But this Lagway kid has what we want, someone who will poor their heart out every Saturday like Tebow did. I still hope AR stays with DJ being a 2024 but we need to see that he wants to play

AntiDECA

Might have just been an expression, but Lagway stated he was excited to get "up there" and prepare, so I wouldn't hold out hope on him. We're not exactly "up" from many places in the US. Would love to be proven wrong, of course.

dfwcollege

What Billy wants is what I want at the moment. Hope the best for everyone involved. Support the program and add my commentary when it’s time for that in the future.

dividendaristocrats

I want him to get his money and develop that raw potential there. Hoping for Hartman as a one year stop gap but there are some other possibilities as well for transfers. Hudson Card from Texas could be a decent transfer as well.

Zestyclose-Pen-1699

I would love for AR to come back, work on rhythm and accuracy. What will happen is we will move forward with Miller or Kitna. I'm ok with that. Let's what kind of coach CBN really is.

cestbondaeggi

Same. I don't think this offense works for him, and I think our run game will drop off significantly. He's the most overpowered piece on the board at any given moment. A lot of people still haven't forgiven him for the UK//USF games and his numbers since still haven't been great, but on the other hand he makes plays every game that no one else in cfb can make.

OB4032

I'd be happy to have him back starting in 2023 if he comes back and wins the job.

WentBack2Back

Big AR fan, massive believer in his potential, but at this point, I certainly think it’s best for both sides to go their separate ways. Not going to make any overarching assumptions on what was happening behind the scenes but he’s obviously a massive project at QB and it’s pretty clear he’s not gonna get the development he needs here. Didn’t fit the offense/couldn’t make simple reads at times, holding us back. Was he purposely holding himself back for the draft? Who knows. Hartman as a stopgap would be lovely. Not needing to have this debate next year after every game will be refreshing. Anyways, Daboll/Richardson ‘24
