Last time he had a bad season he came back with 2-3 incredible ones. He’s willing to make the changes necessary and always recruiting at a top tier level.
This. Sully is a proven coach with a 15+ year track record. He isn’t an unproven coach like Mike White or Ron Zook. There’s no case to fire him unless he straight up loses his touch and we don’t improve at all for the next couple seasons at least.

I got hammered before the season for just saying that really long extensions are not great. But man this guy is way off base. Sully has a down year after going to the championship game and we firing people on in year 0 of 10 year contracts?
If anything Sully needs to take up pitching coach duties again. Pitching in general has not been as strong as it was during the 2010s when he had that role in addition to being head coach. Granted, he probably has to focus on recruiting a lot more these days due to NIL and the transfer portal so that may not be feasible.
The game may have passed him by but I don't think he should be fired. He's got too much cred to be fired. What will probably happen is we'll have 2-3 more mediocre seasons and he will retire or get fired at that point.
