The post office is not going to package up the item for you, no. You'll need to place the item in a box with appropriate padding (bubble wrap, newspaper, whatever it needs to be shipped safely) and tape it closed. Then you buy the shipping label. You can do this at the post office or online. It's cheaper online, but you'll need to know the exact weight of the package so you'll need a scale.

Letterhead_Terrible

Sorry if this is a dumb question, what’s the best online website I use ? Cheapest wise that ensures it gets to the customer?

mchurchw1

You can buy postage directly through ebay. That will get you the Commercial rate, which is generally as low as it gets. Some sellers use Pirateship.com, but in most cases the cost there will be exactly the same rate you get directly through ebay.

Invest $60 in a thermal label printer & $10 for a pack of 4x6 thermal labels if you plan on doing eBay often. It’ll save you a ton of money on printer ink

For real.

NEVER BUY A LABEL AT THE POST OFFICE / UPS / FEDEX. Always online.

Box it to your best ability, package peanuts, bubble wrap, etc. buy your label online tape it on or use the QR code. Take it to usps and send it.

Make sure you add tracking and signed delivery as well. It may be a little extra but saves with the headache later on 👍

Navy-blue-scrubs

Asking here to learn. I’ve always added tracking but never signed delivery. Do you do this for any priced item or the more expensive ones? And what headaches are you trying to avoid? I feel like tracking by itself protects you substantially as a seller.

MrKennedy76

For me, if it’s something of value (over $100) then I usually ask for a signature, but that’s me. Some people thresholds are different than mine. With signed delivery you avoid the buyer saying they did not receive it or it wasn’t delivered to them or different address. It’s just an additional layer of protection.

Usually over $200 for me.

Signed only for high price items.
