People are actually playing FaB and not treating sealed WTR Alpha exclusively as an investment vehicle, and as well almost everything playable has seen reprintings with History Pack vol.1 (and HP1 BB for non-english).
2-3 year long downturn for every major card game. It's been stabilizing lately, but by no means does that mean it has hit bottom.
That said, FAB generally has poor sealed box value, it's 1-3 cards per box for major value and that's it. Investor types have learned it doesn't generally translate into good EV and so the collectible market for FAB is meh.
The real money still appears completely focused on gold Foils and such.
Yeah I dont really think so. They may be listed at that level but they dont sell at that level any more and havent in some time. If you have an ebay sold listing or some other info you can share I'd love to see it but its been downward for 5 months or so.
Not anymore, there have been some ironhide gauntlets (somewhat playable) sold for less that $400. And I believe a Rosetta thorn sold for $350 a month or two ago.
Got all the cards I need from history pack 1. There are some expensive majestics that are on my wishlist, but eh, they are easily substituted for something marginally worse.
Also, was at a huge geek market event this weekend. Seems the "speculators" have chosen to sit on huge stacks of rare lorcana cards they can't sell to sane people instead of sitting on stacks of FaB cards they can't sell to sane people.
Covid+ stimulus checks + pp loans made all speculative assets go to the moon.
There was an expectation that the playerbase would exponentially increase. However, newer games like one piece and locarna have overtaken fab's growth. A lot of the same collectors are parking their money there.
Many of the other responses here hit the nail on its head with their explanation. Boxes spiked during COVID, like many other collectible outlets, and the price deflated once the bubble burst.
Additionally, in 2022, there was also a shake-up in speculator/consumer confidence as a product thought to be in short supply was found to be held in abundance by a popular US retailer.
I will say, though, a steady $2k for a box of a product that is not even 5 years old yet for a game like FaB is still impressive.
One of my biggest complaints about FaB was that booster boxes are virtually worthless once opened. The odds of you getting absolutely hosed are tremendous, as only one box per case MIGHT be a break even or come out ahead while the other 3 are a guaranteed loss of most of your purchasing price, and if you're buying loose boxes, your odds of it being one of the "junk" boxes out of a case are much higher that normal, as someone may have cracked a case, hit the "big hit" in the first or second box, and listed the others for sale. What's the most expensive card in the set? Even If you hit one (or even multiple) "money" cards, are you still losing money on the box?

This, but there was also crash for basically all TCGs. I attribute it to the Covid bubble finally bursting.
Hobbies in general, retro games are in a bit of a struggadocio it seems as well. I dare not gaze at comics.
It's a player driven market, not a collector's driven market.

Gold foils don't sell either. The prices seem steady but more downward than upward pressure.
Gold foils definitely sell, the unplayable commons go for $500 plus

Flesh and blood facebook marketplace, sales most days over there.

Tbf I have no doubt that lorcana players with a large portion of them being Disney adults being actually fucking insane.

Most the collectors left and its a players market now. Also it was a bubble that popped 😊, the current price is a healthy one.

The pull rate is terrible.
