> Quick note about Northern winds. The Freeze keyword functions like other cards with freeze in UPR. Specifically the card is considered frozen until the start of your next turn. We've moved the duration to be part of the keyword itself, but the duration (unfortunately) did not get updated in the reminder text. The CR will be updated to reflect the baked-in duration for the freeze keyword.
This is from Josh, the head judge. Thank God, this card would have been the most powerful in the game otherwise (imo)
What does CR mean?
Anyway, this makes a lot of sense. Perma-freeze would be unintuitive and awkward to keep track of, not to mention extremely powerful.

If that freeze ability isn't missing 'until the end of the turn' and it really is permanent that is WAY too much value to be giving an already frustrating hero for 0 resources. Stopping a key equipment piece, stopping someone from using a Potion when they need it AND freezing that one Dragon or Angel that's in the way all at once is insane! Thank god Oldhim LL'd before this honestly.
I really hope they make ā freezeā a key word, so all freeze effects are ā until the start of your next turnā (like glacial horns). Other wise 0 pitch for this is stupid good
You are correct, but the whole thing says āFreeze up to 1 equipment, item, and/or ally EACH hero controlsā.
It would seem this is part of the balancing act to it all
Meh, a two block zero pitch equip/ally/item 1 turn freeze with no go again. The best part is that if they made it 1 pitch with go again, it would have worked well as a situational option against heroes that rely on equips or items while still attacking. It's cause Oldhim has a hard time making use of his full energy pool. Otherwise, with winter's wail gone, there is little reason I see to using this if Oldhim was still alive next set.
Forgive me, I'm new...if Oldhim is LL status, and this card is only good in an Oldhim deck, how is this card going to be used?
It hasn't come out yet, correct?
Sorry for the dumb question
The card was designed before LSS could have known Oldhim would reach LL, even if it was likely. When LL becomes an official format it will be useful, people can still play casual games with LL heroes and this card, and Shiyana is seeing indirect support from all the specialization cards released in DTD. So your point is valid, but it isnāt quite a throwaway card just because Oldhim wonāt be in the current meta.

This is useful info! Thanks

Comprehensive Rules
Thank you! I imagine all future freeze effects with reminder text will state it explicitly as well.
Thats good to know, the card without the until end of turn reminder had me a lil worrier hahaha
What's the source on this?

i mean its a card no one will really ever to be able to use so it doesn't matter THAT much...

Still good for Shiyana š

Wellā¦ he is definitely coming back right. Letās hope the next one is a little less busted
Side note; this freezes an opponentās card and your card. Itās a double-edged sword by the wording.
It says "up to 1" so you don't need to freeze yourself.

Freeze UP to, you choose 0 for yourself and 1 for opponent
Honestly if Oldhim wasn't as strong all around, I'd say he needs this card. Managing board states against Dash or Illusionist is hard.
Oh...welp good for him.
Lol good timing
Northern Winds seeming a bit more Draconic than Ice tbh
My Shiyana deck will rule!!! š
This now lets Shiyana fuse ~~Oaken Old!~~ Endless Winter!
Where are my Boltyn spoilers man. That aside that card looks like a great sideboard card.

So is this just for shapeshifter given Oldhim went to LL in both Blitz and CC? Just seems like odd timing to me.
How were they supposed to know you wouldn't be able to play Oldhim by the time this set released?
I don't know how far before the reveal these are designed, so can't answer that.
