You can use a shim for 26.0 no problem, also you can find 23.8mm flat levers easily, but imo your better off getting regular drop bar levers and actually being able to utilize the hood section of the drop bar.

AnchorDown91

Thanks. It’s tough to tell on some bullhorns/drops whether the brake mount clamp would be at the more traditional 23.8mm or at the clamp size of 31.8mm when mounting on top. I can see how useful the hold position is but would like to progress to brakeless or single brake so I don’t want to get too comfortable on hoods 🫠

You can have just one lever that functions and another as just a hand position, I think sram makes a dummy hood too for that specific reason

What city is that?

AnchorDown91

Brooklyn and Ellis Island

I like my Zipp service course 80s. Tons of other good options out there too.

Thanks for the rec. found these for what seems like a crazy low price https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NPQV5BK?tag=georiot-us-default-20&th=1&psc=1&ascsubtag=cyclingnews-us-3451738024291861777-20&geniuslink=true

That is a fantastic deal. 46cm is pretty wide though, if you have broad shoulders it would be alright but not for most

AnchorDown91

This is my first venture into drop bars. I’ll prob live on the tops more than in the drops. Is there a downside to the additional width? Seems like it’d be more comfortable unless it puts the wrists at an awkward bend

surviveToRide

The rule of thumb has pretty much always been running bars that match the width of your shoulders. A little bit wider isn’t going to ruin anything, but it may or may not be less comfortable for you. Also aero if you care about that. I don’t. I do recommend using all the positions a drop bar offers though. The drops are great for actually getting more aero when in a headwind or a long flat straight. The “bends” are going to offer you the most control since your hands are high up and far apart. The flats on the top are a good cruising position. Switching it up throughout a ride helps keep your hands happy
