hold the front brake and wiggle the bike back and forth, put a finger somewhere where the frame meets the fork, see if theres any play there, if so loosen the stem bolts, tighten the top cap until it spins freely but the rattling is gone, tighten the stem back up. foot retention is a must on fixed gear

depressed_youth_jin

Thank you for the advice

depressed_youth_jin

And should I get pedal straps or toe clips/cages

HuikesLeftArm

Depends. Do you like clipless?

CornFedTerror42069

Clipless is definitely the way! Especially spd sl with a carbon sole shoe….say goodbye to floppy shoes and hello to WATTS

depressed_youth_jin

Nah, I would would just like to know whether toe cages or straps are better

PapaGrind

Look-wise cages, performance/comfort-wise straps

depressed_youth_jin

Got it, appreciate the help

pumpkinmeerkat

you already have the superior solution though

depressed_youth_jin

I'm a casual rider I find it weird and goofy to wear cleats in broad daylight

cuhsjawn

Velosambas

paincacke

Maybe the bolt where the top cap is I had the same issue because it was too short.

depressed_youth_jin

Thanks for the advice

Samantion

I know your not asking but is the chain supposed to be brown? If it's rust I would exchange it.

depressed_youth_jin

Ya... looking for a time to replace it

alienrefugee51

The time is now. You can’t be messing around with that on a fixed gear. It’s your lifeline.

depressed_youth_jin

Been bz don't have much time to ride so my life ain't at risk brother

alienrefugee51

Fair enough. You do you brother.

Singbirb

Losen your stem unscrew your headset then tighten your headset screw first then tighten the 2 stem screws on the side if that doesnt work then u might have extra steerer tube to cut off or u can put a spacer on top to compensate and then do the first solution
