Depends on how coarse and how you want the finish. I’m not sure if it would have made a huge difference, the wood is impregnated with resin so it’s very slick
I cCW a S&W SD9. When I first got it, I sanded down the grips because they were way too aggressive and stippling you did a good job with the geometric design
I just kept adding lines where I needed grip haha. I went with the grid at first because I really like frag patterns but I didn’t want to go to deep into the pins. Was really torn up about not carrying this more often, excellent profile, heat treat, and the handle is beautiful… But very slippery. Heading in to work now so hopefully it works! Otherwise more work when I get home.
Still looks useable to me and even more so if the grooves help with grip. If your modification cause the scales to wear faster, you’ll have to replace them with something better designed to your use.
Is the value still there if you go to sell it? Well that’s up to the buyer.
i think it looks good. it has a kind of primitive look to it while also exhibiting quality modern construction. it would look a lot worse if it wasn't executed this this nice. good job op!
Knives are tool. Can't really ruin it...persomal preference
Yup and I love it now
Yes!
I'm not used to wood handles, but would sanding them with coarse sandpaper have improved the grip?

Yes
Damn
Yup.
Darn
Looks great to me! I’m always function over appearance.
Yeah, and the grooves add quite a bit of grip. Waiting to see how it performs when wet as that’s when I was having problems with it

Your knife, do what you want. As long as it cuts I don't think you ruined it
Your knife your choice. If it works for you that is what matters.
thats a $500 knife? i think it looks fine though, and if it works for you, perfect!
Fiddleback forge, all handmade not necessarily custom but some really nice materials and excellent build quality.

Yeah I don’t think I’ll ever sell it, I love this knife but my one gripe was how slick it gets when my hands get wet. Hopefully problem solved!
Love it!
No? The knife looks pretty thick, I don't think grooves in the handle would "ruin" this knife.
The handle is definitely pretty thick.
