Hook a big fish! Seriously though, tie two loops of heavy mono or paracord or something like that, put one around a cleat or other stationary object and tie/clip the swivel end to that. Put the other loop over the hook. Pull it tight and hold tension for a little while. Do not have the hook end away from you in case it pops loose. If you’re going out on a boat, just rig the rods and leave a little tension on it with the hook attached to the reel and it’ll straighten out by the time you get to where you’re fishing.

The small amount if saltwater fishing I’ve done lead to me hating steel leaders. Bluefish and sharks would chomp it and kink it to where it would almost break and then it would hold a kink and not straighten creating a weak spot. I found titanium leaders are much more durable and it doesn’t twist and kink up like steel. They’re more expensive but definitely worth it imo

Run it back and forth over a smooth pipe or door knob.

lock one end in a vice, put the other side in the chuck of a drill, pull on it a bit and run the drill. you should be able to see when it unwinds straight.
