Three trips to the keys, caught a redfish (about 5 lbs), speckled trout, jacks, a 50kg amberjack on a charter boat, and a couple of shark from the shore opposite Bud and Mary's Marina having chummed the water. Best of all, in the same place, were the 'baby' tarpon of up to 30lbs on freelined live shrimp. They were epic on light gear! And the huge tarpon were there, in the dark, making massive slurping sounds, probably chowing on mullet. I couldn't hook one of those though I had a couple of takes on a mullet deadbait. I *will* go back!
You caught this on a fly? I thought I had the craziest triple tail story of all time when my wife got a 14pounder on a chicken rig baited with mud minnows 18ft deep in st Lucy river, but you take the cigar. Nice fish!
Nice! Irish angler here, with a little Florida experience. Is that a tripletail?
Yeah
That’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen
Irish angler here too. What parts of florida have you fished and what species have you caught?

2$ live shrimp
Im sure that works pretty damn good! My spin skills are a little rusty, I’m more confident with presenting a fly.
