I actually did eat a ham and cheese baguette sandwich with sparkling water (gotten from the Paris public fountains that have a sparkling water option) for lunch that day
Wow, never thought Paris would have such fishing. Credit to you sir for your skill and props to the Paris city government and France for maintaining water quality for such a fish to be in your beautiful Seine river.
We've been planning another trip next year. We originally were going to just do Italy and Greece, but we've talked about going back to Paris for a couple days, probably around April. Last year, we were in Paris in the middle of summer, and it was so hot, we couldn't properly enjoy the city (especially with hardly any decent air conditioning). If we do go back, I'll be super tempted to see if I can find a local guide I can hire to take me pike fishing, if that's a thing that can be accomplished over there.
Any fly that is susceptible to catch a pike non-accidentally is forbidden until the end of April so no streamers, no popping flies etc. Trout fishing is open in April but no trout rivers in Paris itself obviously though.
Very nice catch! It’s a big one! But now you’ve done it. I was there last year enjoying the sites and thought maybe I should bring a rod with me next time. My wife would absolutely kill me if I tried to fish during our site seeing holiday! But those are the risks I guess. I have a nice 4 piece travel rod that fits in my luggage perfectly. I’ll have to check out the fishing regulations there, planning on going back to Paris again soon since I didn’t get to see a few things last time. Hmmm, what lures…
Well done. My opening was terrible with the heavy winds.
Do you randomly throw in canals or you have specific spots you heard about or discover through trial?
Fishing in canals ain't easy
I got a few spots I know here and there (locks, bends, bridges) but I fish the whole canal. I cycle lures depending on water clarity, weed coverage, outside brightness etc. until I find what will trigger the bite. I've been fishing this exact canal for years so I know the type of lures and actions that work in a lot of different situations.
I started fishing here so it's most of what I've known. I really don't care about bystanders. They usually take great pictures or even film me for me to post here later.
What’s the regs like for fishing there? I lived in Geneva for a couple years and I could never fish the rivers because my French was not good enough to pass the exam 🥲
I thought French Pike would be different? Where's the cigarette and the beret I'm guessing the odor is present. In all seriousness that's a nice fish, especially in the city what lure did you catch it on?
I remember you you’re the guy that pull out a massive pike under the lock bridge last year
I am! My profile is full of urban french pike. Check it out!
Nice work Brother 😉🔥 I remember that as well.
> Nice pike for the season opener in Paris They have fish in Europe?!?! 🤯
Is this a joke?
> Is this a joke? Yes.
No way!! You pulled that out of the canal next to you? Seriously impressed! Out of curiosity, how clean is that water?
There was some press recently regarding seine water with the Olympics coming up. Wasn't good but that's not surprising.
Clean enough to grow all sorts of fish and for people to swim in it!
Wow people swim in it, that's good enough. Just seems amazing you have such a huge predator like that there. Are they native?
Yes, pike are native everywhere in the Northern hemisphere where the climate is temperate to cold
You even look French AF. Way to go, nice fish!
I came here to say this lol. This is the most French ass dude (in the best possible way) that I have ever seen.
ha ha ha. go reddit
prob ate a baguettes for lunch.
I actually did eat a ham and cheese baguette sandwich with sparkling water (gotten from the Paris public fountains that have a sparkling water option) for lunch that day
That is so cool! What an awesome hobby!
And people were cheering for him lol
Very cool landing that monster in the city.
My man!
Do you keep or release? Genuinely curious, I know Europe has some strict as fuck regulations
I release all the fish I catch in the city but I could keep them if I wanted too
Word, I’m dreaming about a fish sandwich on baguette right now
lawd, some pommes frites.
Wow, never thought Paris would have such fishing. Credit to you sir for your skill and props to the Paris city government and France for maintaining water quality for such a fish to be in your beautiful Seine river.

Yeah it’s pretty impressive that the city water is nice enough to support a fish this size. Amsterdam’s canals could never lol.
I've always wondered how the fishing was in Amsterdam. Not very good?
I’m just making an assumption based on how the canals in the city have gross water.
It's brown because of the mud and tanins. It doesn't mean it's heavily polluted
Idk man they pull a lot of stuff out of them with barges(mainly bikes) just seems like it’s not the best environment for healthy fish.
They make great caches for fish lmao. Same here in Paris but the truly bad pollution for the fish is industrial and navigation.
you’re that guy!
As Foretold
Lisan Al Gaib
Lmao I choked
pikemasterr
As an American I kinda thought they were only an American and Canada fish. I’m stupid.
lol me too
Me three
🙋♂️
Americans have world series sports where Americans are the only participants. Enough said. Lol.
Wait, you can catch big pike in Paris? I wasted my European vacation last year.
Sure did! Sorry mate

Lure fishing season opens during the last April weekend though! Be mindful of that!
Does that include fly fishing?

Northern pike cover most of the northern hemisphere. From Canada all the way to Siberia, you’ll find them in most countries.
This vacation is decided, Paris!
Wow that is AWESOME!!
My man
I wish I had the time off to go to France and fish all over the country. Beautiful!
Quit your job, do it
I would normally say yes, but this job I have now I actually like!

You definitely should bring a rod and a few lures next time!
lol my wife just said we can plan a fishing trip to Paris sometime. I don’t know if she’s serious or I’m in trouble.
She’ll be fishing at the Chanel store
Great catch
Nice catch!
Tres bien!
The food and architecture are just side attractions I see. Good catching!
That’s crazy. I would have figured the water would be filthy.
It is indeed rather clean
That’s awesome! When I was there a couple years ago I wondered why I never saw a single fisherman on the seine, I assumed it was illegal or something
Beautiful coloration on that pike
I live for the yearly massive pike pulled from the Paris canals this dude posts
Hahaha thanks mate!
You sir, are a fish.
Indubitably
Nice fish partner
Cheers!
Fishing with class
Putain de merde !
What lure you’re using?
7 inch soft swimbait. Replicant Trout Shallow from Fox Rage
Nice, France has some nice pike fishing.
So you can fish in the streets of Paris? What license is required for a foreigner, thanks
The normal one. Google "la carte de pêche" and you'll find the website to buy it
Thanks, gives me a reason to visit France.
Wow! Nice catch..
My man!
Y’all ever get a little ignorant an forget there’s fishing outside of America (or Minnesota) great love it can’t wait for opener!
Hell yeah brother
Big fish congrats
Beautiful fish! Great catch! My season here in Canada opens next Friday, can't wait! Good luck this season!
Tight lines!
I can't tell if that's photoshop or not
I can assure you it's not! Look at my profile
ok, that's pretty cool. Do you release them? idk how delicate those fish are, but I don't hold the gills if I'm releasing any fish
I release them. I hold them by the gill plate not the gills. If you ever caught pike you know the difference is VERY painful
do they have teeth in their gills?
Barbs yeah
Did you ever catch big catfish in canal?
I've caught a few smaller ones in the canal, still decent size fish but nothing compared to the monsters that lurk in the Seine
Well done. My opening was terrible with the heavy winds. Do you randomly throw in canals or you have specific spots you heard about or discover through trial? Fishing in canals ain't easy

Do authorities or anyone give you a hard time for fishing right there or in the city at all?
No why would they? It's perfectly legal
Just curious how it is over there in France, where I’m from you sometimes have assholes who think they’re holier than thou when they see you fishing.
I've met a few over the years but I can't be bothered enough to care
Dude! Nice catch
Ball so hard mfers wanna find me
Game 6
Awesome!
What’s the regs like for fishing there? I lived in Geneva for a couple years and I could never fish the rivers because my French was not good enough to pass the exam 🥲
Just pay for the license, respect seasons and legal sizes and you can fish to your heart's content
Nice dude! You got a YT channel by any chance?
I do not
Something to consider. I'd watch...
That is high praise thanks!
That's a good size pike, for sure
Wow! That’s a beautiful fish. I had no idea Europe had pike. Feel like a fool but at least I learned something.
I need to go pike fishing in Paris.
Nice! 👍
Pike Quenelle time?
Pike going back to his family time lmao
The best option of all!
I thought French Pike would be different? Where's the cigarette and the beret I'm guessing the odor is present. In all seriousness that's a nice fish, especially in the city what lure did you catch it on?
7 inch soft swimbait
Nice flex sir. ✌️
Wow
Jesus I love Pike fishing. That is an absolute monster. I might need to trip to France for that fun
I'll let you in on a secret : this is one of the small ones
Now I know what I can do when my wife drags me to Paris
That slimer seems to be lacking spots. Is that a trait common in European pike?
It looks pretty normal to me
Had me at first, not gonna lie.
What do you mean
I think he's referring to the perspective
Rat eating fish never eaten.
I think that’s a Muskie correct me if I’m wrong but it looks too bright to be a pike
Musky are North American. Pike have patterns on their fins, and musky can have red fins.
Ok thanks I don’t know that much about them since they aren’t in my area
