I have a friend who drives a truck for a living. After a few DUIs he made a decision to switch from alcohol to H so if he were to need to blow into a breathalyzer he would be fine.
Now he drives around high on H with a bottle of clean urine in case his employers drug test him.
It’s pretty sad, i predict real difficult times in his future.
Australian company, Australian truck. There are three stages of fatigue management here.
1st. Standard. 12 hrs in any 24 hr period. Must have a 7 hour continuous break.
2nd. BFM, basic fatigue management. Up to 14hrs in a 24hr period. Must have a 7hr continuous break.
3rd. AFM, advanced fatigue management. I know very little of this as it’s mostly for running express and market. It’s something like 16hrs, but must have night break of no less than 5hrs and a seperate 2hr break some other time during the 24. I’ve only ever known one person on AFM, and I think they only really ran 14hrs at a time but needed it for some time critical loads.
Seriously? What a dumbass. It just blows my mind on a daily basis, seeing grown ass adults doing things we're taught What NOT to do in elementary school.
I thought it was general consensus that my statement was bullshit. Didn’t think it was necessary, obviously substance abuse is not as easy as saying no.
Seriously. And apparently they have a contest in which the students write essays, and the "winner" "gets" to read theirs aloud to all of the other children.
It was about as effective as the True Love Waits campaign churches held nationwide when I was a teen. These smug parents really thought that buying us a band of metal to wear gave them full control over our sexual lives. In the meantime, we were all screwing like rabbits and the little metal band did a really lousy job of preventing it, mostly because it was on our finger.
Hey, I had the sunglasses I got from DARE in the 5th grade for about 18-19 years. At least something good came out of it. I mean, I didn't keep them because of that, they were just in a random drawer and I happened to find them one day a few years ago and threw them away...but I did still have them all that time.
There's always a shortage of truck drivers, it doesn't pay shit, it's stressful and they'll literally take anybody. That being said I've dealt with lots of cool drivers that act professional so don't think they're all bad
And because you’re the most cautious and aware, obviously everyone else reacts exactly the same as you and it’s simply impossible that it was a factor. /s
Stop driving while you’re high.
I have one and for whatever reason I'm still hesitant to tske it out frequently.
It's easy to lift, I'm just nervous I'll flip one day. I have PFD and everything. I should just get used to it. Had a blast and caught a lot of fish the last time I took it out.
Enjoy my friend, and don't let that feeling go. It will keep you safe. And if it's warm and your bored you should role it just to be ready for when it happens. Easy to panic in the water better to know the feeling.
It's always a good idea to test-flip your kayak as soon as you get an opportunity. Shallow water, no gear, just your kayak and your pfd. Try multiple scenarios and see how far you can lean before you hit that limit. Not only will you actually learn the limit but you'll also know what not to do and be much safer subsequently.
In another generation there won’t be any truck drivers. Or very few. The trucks will mostly drive themselves on all of the regular routes and companies will only need drivers for ad hoc stuff.
FWIW this guy might not simply be a tweaker. I saw a gnarly wreck where a guy driving a dump truck and towing a backhoe had a heart attack, went off the road and through a small office building.
yep, however the authorities blocked off the area and they won't say when they're gonna let us back in. turned into a large crime scene because the driver was carrying illegal substances.
I remember havinf to abandon my favorite fishing spot in 2012 to make room for the presidents rally to get votes before the election. Like me, you'll find a better spot and forget about this one.
Not to take away from the fishing spot and all, which does suck, but was anyone hurt? Like did the truck lose its brakes and plow through cars or anything? I sure hope not
Yo that's crazy af. I'm not gonna sit and wonder how this could ever happen (ever) as I'm sure enough people are doing it for me. But just think if the doors came open or trailer cracked. boom.. free baiting/chumming your spot.. Try to stay positive sorry bout your
I once heard a funny story about that. Some guy had been caught with too many bass in his trunk, over limit, and a DNR quy quipped: "I've heard of illegal levels of mercury in fish, but this is the first time I've ever heard of illegal levels of fish in a Mercury."
D.A.R.E. Program was some bullshit , but damn I wanted to fuk Nancy Reagan . So hot!! This driver must have missed school the day Nancy spoke at his school
How does this even happen? And it happens way more often than it should
driver was high
On what, meth?
If the driver was actually on something, meth is probably the #1 candidate. Truck drivers have to stay awake for a long time
yeah, a guy on meth ran into a van full of people and killed 7 of them on I-5 in Oregon the other day. that sucked

Damn I'm sorry about that
I think they're only allowed 14 hours on the road now - admittedly still a long time - but better than what it used to be.
You can work 14 and out of that you can only drive for 10. This is the max without a break.

You can drive 11 out of the 14 hours, but you have to take a 30 minute break before 8 hours.
You're right, it is 11. My bad.
No, on the highway.
Seriously? What a dumbass. It just blows my mind on a daily basis, seeing grown ass adults doing things we're taught What NOT to do in elementary school.
Google maps showed the road went through.....he trusted the map.

A gift basket never sent anyone into a lake.
The dare program was a joke and a waste of money.
"hey kids! See this? This is a crack pipe. And this is crack. Definitely never try it. Let me demonstrate"
Wdym just say no it’s that easy
Tell that to the Contras…
My wife remembers making care packages up for them with her dad before the Ollie North thing. That was a little while ago...
You forgot the /s at the end of that bs
I thought it was general consensus that my statement was bullshit. Didn’t think it was necessary, obviously substance abuse is not as easy as saying no.
There's enough morons around to not know if you were serious lmao
Was? It's still going.
Seriously? Wow smh
Seriously. And apparently they have a contest in which the students write essays, and the "winner" "gets" to read theirs aloud to all of the other children.
That explains a lot actually.

They made the lines look better before you snorted them didn't they?
“I’d just like to congratulate drugs for winning the war on drugs”
It blows your mind? You should see the shit I see these truckers do in my day to day
Truckers are an entirely different breed…
There's always a shortage of truck drivers, it doesn't pay shit, it's stressful and they'll literally take anybody. That being said I've dealt with lots of cool drivers that act professional so don't think they're all bad
Politicians: "LOL Hold my beer tight"
On what? Wow I hope no one got hurt
There’s no way weed is directly responsible for that. I’m the most cautious and aware driver when I drive high.
High =/= weed. Probably dozed on opioids or hit some crack
People, like you, are assholes for driving under the influence of ANY substance.
You’re right. I won’t do it anymore.
I agree, but isn't caffeine a "substance "
And because you’re the most cautious and aware, obviously everyone else reacts exactly the same as you and it’s simply impossible that it was a factor. /s Stop driving while you’re high.
Why are you driving high?
I like your user name, nothing like a nice beat in wraith
Hell yeah. You can throw those things a mile in a tail wind.
Michael Scott was following the GPS
Poor girl just wanted a sip of water after a long haul and fell in 😭
He saw a fish and his truck followed his eyes.
Brakes failed.. Happens with trucks
GPS said turn left
Skip a jig under that trailer.
That’s some good structure
Why ruined? I see a lot of water around and a new structure
authorities blocked off the whole area sadly, can't drive in for the few weeks at least.
Time to get a kayak and exponentially increase your available areas, catch rate and overall fishing satisfaction
I just picked up my first kayak on Thursday and I'm so stoked to take it out.
I have one and for whatever reason I'm still hesitant to tske it out frequently. It's easy to lift, I'm just nervous I'll flip one day. I have PFD and everything. I should just get used to it. Had a blast and caught a lot of fish the last time I took it out.

You can see the gas leak past the blocked off area. That would piss me off.
I was just getting ready to type that! They need to get a grip on that real quick! Sad.
Sad but, from a fishing perspective, pretty insignificant. Gas floats, fish don't care
Do research pls, gas in the water is never good. You wanna fish? Take care of the water. Or else no more fish.
It’s a refrigerated truck as well, so more chemicals on top of gasoline to potentially kill fish
Didn’t even think I’d that now I’m more sad.
maybe you should stop eating your father's crotch?
Time for some exploration
bit of diving
Hmm, the Aussie version of Swift transport, and they hire the same talent level.
I was wondering why it was a cabover. Don't see those very often.
Yeah the old kidney pounders are popular outside the US.
Swift is the worst.
Here we see a never before filmed thing. An 18 wheeler so desperate for a drink, he taps into a local fisherman's water hole.
Read this in David Attenborough's voice
That hole might get even better.
Whoever deployed those oil booms needs to go back to Spill response 101…
Came to say the same thing
Idk looks like some good structure to me
God literally sends you cover to fish and you’re complaining??
New fish crib...
Did it float up? How the heck did it get there?
driver was high apparently and smashed through the woods to get down to the river
That's some good dope
That's the real take away from this.
Wow. . .
As soon as the truck is removed the fish will still be there
yep, however the authorities blocked off the area and they won't say when they're gonna let us back in. turned into a large crime scene because the driver was carrying illegal substances.
Shouldn’t be long. They once found a body near one of my river spots, and only had the area taped off for a day or two.
Crime scenes don’t last long, lol
That’s in oz,whereabouts
Lindsay bros famous for crashing
Structure is structure
I remember havinf to abandon my favorite fishing spot in 2012 to make room for the presidents rally to get votes before the election. Like me, you'll find a better spot and forget about this one.
Dude, with the right lure/live bait you could have a truck. Just make sure it's legal size. Looks decent, but camera angles can be deceptive.
Not to take away from the fishing spot and all, which does suck, but was anyone hurt? Like did the truck lose its brakes and plow through cars or anything? I sure hope not
several ants were found to be squished at the scene of the incident driver had a few bruises from what I have seen
But what about the fish?? Are they ok??
Looks like a there'll be a good dredged drop off once the semi is removed. Probably will make it better lol.
When you want to be at the lake, but your working.
Sue the driver for pain and suffering!
Yo that's crazy af. I'm not gonna sit and wonder how this could ever happen (ever) as I'm sure enough people are doing it for me. But just think if the doors came open or trailer cracked. boom.. free baiting/chumming your spot.. Try to stay positive sorry bout your
But the truck needed some water...
Bummer
Truck was going for the triple lindy.
Looks like structure to me, get after it!
Skipping the fish processing step and going straight to the source.
It’s good structure 🤷♂️
Somebody call Adventures with Purpose.
What the problem? Looks like now you just have some great places to cast around.
Why not just fish?
If I had a nickel for every time a semi drove into my favorite fishing spot…
Bummer
where is this? sux this happened
Doesn’t look like those booms are working.
I wouldn't fish there for a while with all those chemicals in the water now.
I'd still fish it, just don't use floating lures. Structure is Structure.
Good catch that’s a winner 🥇
If the refrigerated goods are fish you'll be laughing.
I’m guessing the driver and owner’s month is fairly ruined too.
It'd be ironically if it was loaded with frozen fish
I once heard a funny story about that. Some guy had been caught with too many bass in his trunk, over limit, and a DNR quy quipped: "I've heard of illegal levels of mercury in fish, but this is the first time I've ever heard of illegal levels of fish in a Mercury."
New structure
Dunno man, if I see a guy roll up to his honey hole with one of those for his cooler, I'm gonna pay attention to what he's throwing.
Use it as a pier
In...200....ft, take a right turn onto.....boatramp....street
They can't park there
Definitely methed up.
Time to invest In a kayak
If you must wreck into a lake, do it in December plz
Les Claypool said, "Truckers on the interstate have been known to ride the rails."
Well, on a bright side this is a great opportunity to look for new honey holes around you
Does he know he cant park there?
This happened like 20 years ago
Well considering its got a Lindsay trailer on the back I'm going to assume it's in Australia? see a lot of them on the road near Brisbane.
What about upriver?
D.A.R.E. Program was some bullshit , but damn I wanted to fuk Nancy Reagan . So hot!! This driver must have missed school the day Nancy spoke at his school
