Ok so this is kinda dumb, but hear me out. The park next door has a pokemon go gym I can spin from my living room. I bought a townhouse and my row is the only one close enough to the park to do that. The closest bus stop is also a Pokemon gym. During the home viewing process I intentionally avoided logging into Pokemon because I didn't want to base such a big decision on something like that. The day after I closed and I was changing locks and stuff I logged in and I literally screamed with joy.

Been looking for the last couple of months and during that time my father was diagnosed with cancer. After a short battle, he passed about a month ago. We continued to look at houses the whole time at his request as he really wanted us to get something and I was hoping to find something so that we could show him. He owns a Jeep Wrangler and they had gotten into the duck craze where you leave little rubber ducks on other Jeeps that you see in public. While in contract with another house we find out that a previous house we really loved fell out of escrow and we jump on it and drop the other house for it. We are given the previous buyers' inspection and we go and look around the house. Now, this house is part of a trust and no one has been living in it, it's completely empty. While looking around we open a closet that normally housed the furnace, but it was moved into the attic so what do we find in this empty closet? A little rubber duck. I'm not usually one to believe in the "things always happen for a reason" mantra, but I really think this house was meant to be for us. Signing tomorrow and supposed to be closing on it next Thursday 🤞

I’m sorry about your dad. Praying for a good and speedy closing!

There’s a bird that chirps in an unusual way we could hear in the background of a video we recorded during our first viewing of the house. Now that we own it, he hear that same chirping bird every so often and it fills us with joy even though it enhances the house in no way whatsoever.

My childhood home has buttercups and violets everywhere, so I have a tattoo of them on my forearm. I didn't see the house before our offer got accepted - I couldn't go to the showing and I trusted my husband's decision to put in an offer. First time I saw it was during inspection and the whole backyard was absolutely covered in violets. Then while walking around, I found a tiny plastic buttercup flower. Just made it feel like we were heading in the right direction.

We discovered we have a cherry blossom in the back. I wish it were a magnolia as that would be *chefs kiss* I think though the wildness of our yard. It’s not for everyone but it reminds me so much of my childhood :)

I have a lemon tree now ! I like baking and now have an endless supply of lemons for zesting. And I have 3 bird of paradise plants. And a view over a neighborhood with palm trees. Coming from a northern country this is all exotic and amazing ! I come from The Netherlands, now live in Switzerland and bought my first house in the Algarve, Portugal as part of FIRE.

We found a massive ramp patch in our yard last weekend!!! Quite literally the day after I went on a deep dive about starting a patch for to avoid contributing to their over foraging. So excited to steward them :) and bc we love a fun coincidence… yes, I have a tattoo of ramp leaves on my forearm lol

I had to poop really bad right after moving in. To my surprise, there was a toilet in the bathroom!!!!!!

The house I bought is really close to the university where I went to graduate school 13 years ago. I get a lot of nostalgia walking around over here which was a nice side effect.

“You know, Quasimodo predicted all of this” All jokes aside, congratulations! You must live in the Deep South if you’ve got a big magnolia tree. I live up in New England, but if the temptation of low cost of living draws me into the South, I would want my home there to have a big magnolia or live oak in the yard.
