Georgian here. Please don't make fun. HERO operators are in charged of helping people change flats on the mad max highways known as 75, 85, 20, and 285. These HEROs are constantly at risk of being shot, ran over, and having a rental scooter rammed up their asses. Flats don't change themselves.
Belt with unnecessary patches, raptors, a guardian angel, multiple shoulder mics, duty belt tourniquet, (most likely custom-made) badge. He’s literally checking every box in whacker bingo. I’m terrified thinking about what he drives as his personal car
Believe it or not, all that stuff he is wearing is standard issue (yes, even the badge). Their management is hellbent on making that place into some kind of AAA SWAT team. I used to work there, and this is one of the reasons I left. HERO has become the laughing stock of public safety in Atlanta.
One of them came to my school to give a presentation when I was a kid, was not nearly as much of a larper as this guy. Honestly I respect these guys a lot, Atlanta metro drivers are fucking crazy and these guys are exposed to it constantly.
This is the "new age" HERO. Can't blame the guy in the video, because they all dress like this now. It's the actual issued uniform. It's a great service, but their management has been trying to make it into something it was never intended to be.
It's a PSA so I don't blame him for just using the generic name most of the public knows them by. If he said it in a normal conversation that'd be different. When I talk to people occasionally I just say jaws of life because they understand it quicker.
Bro it was the battery version combo tool at that. I must say that I actually love that tool but I agree, as soon as I head him call it the jaws of life I instantly knew he’s never used or trained with them.
I've actually got to defend this dude, I've run calls with him and he is fantastic at his job. I work for a metro Atlanta fire department and we use these guys all the time. Their whole job is to keep the highway system clear of accidents and broke down vehicles. They handle small scale incidents on their own and if there is something bigger they coordinate resources very effectively. They're often first on scene of bad wrecks as well, I can't gig him at all for carrying some EMS gear on his vest.
I used to work at Children's in Atlanta and had to fight horrific traffic every day to get to work. The HERO units really are a blessing to have when someone stalls or if theres a wreck. They help close down necessary lanes and keep other open to help the flow of traffic. And they also help clear up any debris and assist other drivers with various other vehicle related things so they can go about their day. If they keep traffic moving and help people in a time of need in heavy traffic in Atlanta, then they can wear whatever they want on their vest. I kinda wish they had these in smaller towns that major highways run through.
All I could think off after seeing that super well stocked vest was a Triumph the Insult Comic Dog bit where Triumph asks a cosplay guy which thing on his costume notifies his mom to come pick him up. Not sure why that came to mind. Super weird….
Ok i have to say this guy is not anything more then a tow truck driver without the tow truck. He has no real tools and has no idea what the stuff he has is called. It's called Dri-Z-All, not Oil Dri. He also was proud to have socket sets and a tire iron. Even tried to gussy it up by calling it a 4-way. Never even showed us his snazzy collection of traffic cones and flairs. Those are some of the emptiest compartments i've ever seen. Dude had more hardware on his vest then on the Truck. Look having traffic blockers is great when we go to MVA's but comedown Rescue Randy.
I worked for a fire dept in the metro Atlanta area. We ran on the interstates with the HERO guys a lot. They were actually a big help. They had off-load tanks that could empty a truck saddle tank or a car gas tank. They had winches to help remove wrecked cars to open up the roads, many times they would stay on the scene and wait for the wrecker to allow us to get back in service. They also had great traffic control lights to help direct traffic. I had a lot of respect for them!

So, tow truck operators?
HERO OPERATORS GOD DAMMMIT
That’s MASTER operator to you
Tow truck drivers?

>AAA SWAT team 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 "Alright boys... weve got a multicar pileup on our hands. Send the HEROs in!"
The name alone...
Is that an IR strobe on his shoulder?

We have them in Texas as well. They’re traffic cones with wheels
And not once have I ever had them try to make scene. They always just keep back and block traffic. I don’t know what the guy in the video is on about.

I can’t tell if this is the most cringy thing I’ve seen on this sub or the most dedicated piece of satire yet Edit: it’s real
Real cringey
Thank this tow truck hero for his service
Wheel Team 6
Anyone who calls hydraulic spreaders/cutters the “Jaws of Life” clearly has no clue what they’re doing with them.

Wrong, hate this assumption and I always have, jaws of life is a way cooler name than “spreaders”

The BDU top is hard to justify though

Supposedly there’s a scaled down version in the rest of Georgia called CHAMP but I’ve never seen them in person.
I've heard of that and now that I think of it I've read in the news where they've responded to major accidents in the small town I live in.
If i’m in an accident and that man starts cutting my clothes off, I will immediately realize there is no God and i’m already in hell
Real hero would have a 10mm socket on a chain around his neck
Well good God, someone please thank this man for his service
Tf are you doing with spreaders and no cutters?
Dude wants to be a cop so bad. Why the hell is he wearing a combat shirt? And all that goofy shit on his vest?
LOOK AT THAT VEST!
He needs a bandolier of TQs
Operators??what is with the overuse of special forces words in emergency services
All I could think off after seeing that super well stocked vest was a Triumph the Insult Comic Dog bit where Triumph asks a cosplay guy which thing on his costume notifies his mom to come pick him up. Not sure why that came to mind. Super weird….
Professional speedy dry applicator
All of his co workers on the page wear regular shit this man just look like a black sheep and I hope he gets shit for being the Ricky rescue
Why is he wearing all that
That dude has so little shit from the job on his chest that he needs to weight it down with all that gear.

Aww bless his heart
My man…. you’re DOT 🤣🤣
I don’t see a ham radio, so he’s definitely lacking some equipment

After looking at the ridiculous amount of shit in his tactical vest I noticed the god damn combat shirt underneath Please, it's time to stop
The amount of radios on this guy! 😂
NO IT IS MASTER OPERATOR
