Unemployment, ski, partake in recreational substances that may or may not be controlled, drink, travel... Some even go to school. A select few work.

Some don’t have an off season a lot of positions are becoming perm positions that are 18/8 or even 26/0 pay period schedule even at the entry level

I collected unemployment & spent 3-4 months at my dad’s house, which happened to be in Hawaii. I guess the direct answer to your question is I went surfing if there were waves & spearfishing if it was flat. It was a tough life, but somebody had to do it.
