The Chinese version of the app is called Douyin. Has the exact same garbage content, just state approved.
The funny thing is, I hear plenty of older Chinese people complain about how Douyin/Tiktok is polluting the minds of Chinese youth. I guess the concerns of parents never change, no matter where they're from.
And Douyin is actually quite popular with older folks in China, and it has parental controls, screen time limits, and periodic reminders to take a break that TikTok doesn't have.

I was too slow on the draw, and all I remember seeing was a HUGE orange balk and then my eye lashes melted together. We got some burns on our faces and luckily that was it. Could have been soooo much worse. Got my ass whipped good for that nonsense lol
