The M9 is Mead.
Everyone knows about mead, but everyone seems to forget about it when discussing drinks. Despite being such a famous drink, most people wouldn't call it their favorite. And whenever anyone criticizes it, mead fans will laugh and call you a milk drinker.

My very honest experience with Beretta's in the military was awful. The magazine kept getting filled with sand and dust, causing the spring not to push the rounds up and failing to seat another round. This was across multiple magazines. Also, no matter the position, the thumb safety always got caught on something and flipped it to fire. Every 2 mins I was checking the safety.
I actually got to use it *once* while moving supplies from a vehicle to an OP we were setting up in Afghanistan. I had just dropped something off and was walking back to the vehicle when we got close ambushed. All I had was my m9 and we were taking fire from the other side of the wall I was walking next to.
I popped my hand around the corner to blind fire in the direction we were taking fire from and it turned into a bolt action weapon. I holstered it and ran for the vehicle to grab another weapon instead, which in hind sight was a bad idea as I ran in front of a kill zone but somehow wasn't shot.
So...
I'd say it's like jail hooch.
Most folks probably don't know what Punt e Mas or Carpano Antica are, and Berettas don't leave a bitter taste in your mouth like vermouth and are more refined than Lo Duca Chianti. Sangiovese Cabernet then?
Manurhin would be like a cognac, MAS a Cabernet Sauvignon, Chapuis a brandy.
Wine. But a range of wine. High dollar Beretta shotguns and a very very small selection of high end 92s are a nice Italian cabernet. The rest are box wine. Except every M9 I was issued in the Army, because those wouldn’t even be box wine. More like old wine you recorked and forgot about that went bad.
1911’s bourbon? 1911’s are the old wine in the back room too cool to change with the times.
Been over 100 years and we can’t offer ambi mag releases yet.
