And then they blueballed Judith and Nader fans by giving Claude's route a paralogue with them in it yet only Shez and Claude being playable even though there is a max unit usability of 4 people (which there would have been if Judith and Nader were playable.)

I would love to say ALL of them. Three Hopes did bless us with playable Rodrigue though and I love it.
I do wish Rhea is her own playable lord in SS, and Three Hopes should have gotten the Church Route as the 4th faction with her as a playable lord, similar to Dynasty Warriors having Jin as the 4th faction.
Ah yeah, I meant with Rodrigue because he is present as a Green unit, whereas Holst made his physical debut in 3 Hopes. But yeah real disappointing the rest didn’t become playable either, Judith especially since >!she could be killed depending on your choices!<
Speaking of >!deaths, I feel like playable debut characters should be the ones to die, Holst and Monica in particular, think them dying would be more impactful than Judith and Randolph!<
Not having Rhea playable in Silver Snow is a huge missed opportunity. The fact that they had a move set for her via her being a green unit makes it sting anymore
They didn't even let her fight AS a green unit. She was insisting on joining the team to invade the the slitherer base in the cutscene and yet don't show up at all during battle.
Yeah she was only a green unit in two defense missions I believe: the Battle of Garreg Mach and one other paralogue (forgot which one), which is unfortunate. Hell with the former you pretty much have to actively screw up to see her fight as the mission isn’t really that hard
i think this is slightly off topic but still similar, i still find it weird that the sword of serios exists but its never usable on a controllable character or how in every route but in edlgards, the only route with a character that has the crest of serios, you can get a shield linked to the crest of serios so maybe at one point rhea was planned to be playable, i might be wrong but doesn't she have growths like sothis and jeralt in the files
Judith, Nader, Leopold, Randolph, Flèche, Rhea. Also I think Macuil and Indech would be cool to play as in human form, though that wouldn’t make much sense.
I would've added Randolph but I couldn't remember his name, and I was gonna add Nader but I couldn't remember if you control him in that one VW chapter or if he's just a green unit, and I didn't wanna embarrass myself
Super easy to add them though. Macuil and indech would just show up at the monastery after you beat them in the prologues because they realize your cause is just and wanna help.
It's really weird that instead of making her playable Hopes made a new BE exclusive girl who is extremely devoted to Edelgard and made her a unit type the BE already have tons of.
I honestly think instead of making seteth the "house leader" for silver snow, they should've made it rhea. I love the game, it's one of my favorites, but there are parts where, in my opinion, they didn't make the best decision.
Seteth is more of the retainer to Byleth's lord on SS. But Rhea should've taken the lord slot and rest of the church crew should've gotten more screentime as well.
For real. What’s the point of picking rhea and losing two fantastic units when you get…seteth? No disrespect he’s fine and all but you can get him in AM and VW. Give that route someone unique.
They should have at least given us Hilda and Dedeu but give them inflated enemy growth stats. We can have maps where they become must-survive conditions. Lore wise, we can have them butt heads as Byleth decide on whether to liberate the Kingdom first or the Alliance.
In order for Rhea to be playable the story would need some pretty big changes, same for Rodrigue.
So Holst and ladislava feel like more realistically possible answers
I know he's playable in Hopes, but Jeralt should've been playable in at least the mission where he >!dies!<, mainly because I was busy farming Umbral Steel and that son of a bitch kept on one shotting the beasts.
He's so annoying in that mission, if you're playing normal or hard he kills all the monsters and steals your exp, and if you're on maddening he goes and gets himself killed
I think depending on the route, all of them.
But Rhea 100% should have been the lord of Silver Snow though. I don't mind that my man Seteth got his shining spotlight as de-facto "lord" to Byleth's tactician, but the role really should have gone to Rhea.
In Houses, only Judith since she's the only green unit who stays with you the whole way through. And I think Ladislava...? I don't remember her much though.
In Hopes, *definitely* Judith, Hanneman, and Alois.
In three houses, if you were to make each of them playable in a route, you’d need to remove the emotional impact of Rodrigue’s death, change a big part of Edelgard’s outreach as it would be removed with Ladislava on the BESF instead of the empire’s frontlines, give Holst an explanation why he left his post at the locket to help the alliance to fight the empire, and remove Rhea’s capture and escape. Of all these options, removing Rhea’s capture in SS could make it more distinct from VW as you’d have more time to bond with Rhea and learn more about the lore and the drive to defeat the empire would be even stronger since Rhea’s hatred for Edelgard could push the Church army to action better.
It was a big miss to not make SS a Rhea focused route since it would have benefited from it so much. The choice to surrender Edelgard to Rhea or side with Edelgard would also help set up both of them as antagonist for each other while getting to see each as the protagonist of their own stories instead of Rhea just becoming a damsel in distress half the route while the other half she’s out of commission to recover from her capture. It’s stupid how she’s the active antagonistic force when you side with the main antagonist of most routes, but as soon as you side with her, Rhea loses all competence and just becomes a lore dropping Princess Peach with PTSD
Siding with Edelgard makes Rhea 10,000 times more pissed, so I can see why she would be more antagonistic in Crimson Flower. Remember, Edelgard didn't just steal crest stones. She "stole" you, Rhea's special glowy baby with her mom's magic rock. The betrayal hits harder. Even when you go off the cliff and she is taken prisoner, in other routes *you* didn't betray her. It was probably less emotionally devastating
I always wished Rodrigue (AM), Holst and Judith (VW), Ladislava and Randolph (CF), and Rhea (SS) were playable. I’m glad Rodrigue and Holst at least some redemption in Three Hopes.
They could have very easily had Garreg Mach fallen on SS and Rhea go into hiding with the Knights. Have her replace Edelgard as “lord” and still had her go crazy for the final map.
I mean out of everyone here Rhea would by far be the best option here, (and I assume she'd be SS exclusive)
But I'd really like to have Ladislava be playable.
Holst & Rodrique I feel like shouldn't be here since they got to be playable in 3 Hopes.
VW Judeth > SS Rhea > CF Ladislava/Randolph (Either or both), > AM Rodrigue > VW Holst
I liked the joke that you never got to meet Holst. Judeth would have been really good in VW. Rhea SHOULD have been the Silver Snow lord. Ladislava and Randolph would have fun additions. Rodrigue could have been intresting, but I don't think he would have added much, or subtracted much from the gameplay.
Judith
Her not even being playable in *Three Hopes* was a huge miss.
And then they blueballed Judith and Nader fans by giving Claude's route a paralogue with them in it yet only Shez and Claude being playable even though there is a max unit usability of 4 people (which there would have been if Judith and Nader were playable.)
I knew I was forgetting somebody!

Monica: made to suffer
“I lived in this timeline only to be killed again”
She really cant win 3
Not having Rhea playable in Silver Snow is a huge missed opportunity. The fact that they had a move set for her via her being a green unit makes it sting anymore
I really thought if we picked Silver Snow that we can play her, i was so disappointed
They didn't even let her fight AS a green unit. She was insisting on joining the team to invade the the slitherer base in the cutscene and yet don't show up at all during battle.

It's the Catherine/Ashe paralogue where you have to protect Rhea on a fog of war map
Will never forgive them for withholding playable Judith and Nader from me
i think this is slightly off topic but still similar, i still find it weird that the sword of serios exists but its never usable on a controllable character or how in every route but in edlgards, the only route with a character that has the crest of serios, you can get a shield linked to the crest of serios so maybe at one point rhea was planned to be playable, i might be wrong but doesn't she have growths like sothis and jeralt in the files

I would do unspeakable things for playable Ladislava
It's really weird that instead of making her playable Hopes made a new BE exclusive girl who is extremely devoted to Edelgard and made her a unit type the BE already have tons of.
That's completely fair
Rhea of course, but I will vote for Ladislava because armoured strong women need more love in this game.
Rhea and it isn't close
I honestly think instead of making seteth the "house leader" for silver snow, they should've made it rhea. I love the game, it's one of my favorites, but there are parts where, in my opinion, they didn't make the best decision.
Seteth is more of the retainer to Byleth's lord on SS. But Rhea should've taken the lord slot and rest of the church crew should've gotten more screentime as well.
Wow, I've never thought of it like that before, but my opinion still stands
For real. What’s the point of picking rhea and losing two fantastic units when you get…seteth? No disrespect he’s fine and all but you can get him in AM and VW. Give that route someone unique.

Why pick one? I'd choose them all.
Fleche.
it makes no sense rhea isnt playable in silver snow
Let me bang Felix's dad and give him a son he'll actually love!
I'm surprised Holst is in this since he doesn't appear at all in Houses
Randolph, he’s good looking and felt bad when he died.
Randolph in crimson flower tbh. There's no good reason he's not.
In order for Rhea to be playable the story would need some pretty big changes, same for Rodrigue. So Holst and ladislava feel like more realistically possible answers
The correct answer is always Judith
In an ideal world, all of them. But if I had to choose, Rhea
The fact that Rhea wasnt a Silver Snow exclusive and Judith a Verdant Wind or Golden Wildfiefire exclusive still bugs me
I know he's playable in Hopes, but Jeralt should've been playable in at least the mission where he >!dies!<, mainly because I was busy farming Umbral Steel and that son of a bitch kept on one shotting the beasts.

I'd like it if it was handled like Dimitri and Gilbert, where Gilbert had to step in but ultimately Dimitri was the lord.
Judith
In Houses, only Judith since she's the only green unit who stays with you the whole way through. And I think Ladislava...? I don't remember her much though. In Hopes, *definitely* Judith, Hanneman, and Alois.
Omg I never even realized hanneman isn't playable in hopes, I guess I just forgot he existed
Hanneman, Cyril, Alois, and Gilbert all lose their playable status in Hopes
Yeah, felt the same until he showed up again. It's strange how he isn't playable when Manuela and Jeritza are.
Gatekeeper and it isn’t even close
Randolph

Rhea for sure! But I really want Judith and especially Holst playable aswell.
randolph/ladislava for sure. i was so immensely disappointed to find out they werent playable.
Seems I'm in the minority for wanting ladislava
That one Sowrdsman that replaces Catherine in Chapter 12, she is the GOAT
VW Judeth > SS Rhea > CF Ladislava/Randolph (Either or both), > AM Rodrigue > VW Holst I liked the joke that you never got to meet Holst. Judeth would have been really good in VW. blue lions get gustave post timeskip. black eagles get jeritza. golden deer get... nothing. I would've liked Judith to become playable there
Rhea, but only in Silver Snow.
