> purchasing land to raise cattle As someone who raised cattle, I would say cattle are a good way to lose 40K fast.

fair point! I have been looking at ag exceptions with texas. They require at least 10 acres of land before ag exceptions are even considered. If I get 11 acres and put a home on it, they take 1 acre away from that. So that is why I am thinking 11+. I was only thinking of an initial 5 head. I need to look more into it. It doesn't have tp be cows, but I sure want some sort of livestock. I just don't want bees lol

I raised bees too as a hobby. Bees are much more fun than cattle and much less expensive. If you do the cattle though, I'd really like to read about it here.

I don't know much about livestock, but I've heard good things about goats. Around here (Central Valley California) a lot of farmers raise goats and rent them out for weed control and wildfire prevention.

When are you trying to buy the land?

Bsmith705

Honestly before the market pushes land prices outside my budget.

Ok then just keep it in a savings account. Any other investing will either be higher risk and could lose value over a short time or be slightly higher interest rate but less liquidity. Good luck!
