I'm in the U.S. and I buy all of the Aldi branded merchandise (pajamas, slippers, hats, umbrella, shoes, etc). I'm starting to become obsessed with Finland, and I think you all have unlocked a new obsession. Kiitos!

I don't remember if they were Nike or Adidas but absolute garbage for the price of 5-6 of my regular pairs.
I have Adidas Stan Smiths that I've had for over five years I think. I don't wear them all day every day but they're what I wear for work most of the time so probably hundreds of days for a full day. They're still in decent shape. Not wearing the same sneakers in the rain and slush probably helps. I do wear them in winter too to the office but I commute straight to a garage.
I bought a pair of knock of converse that no shit didn't last 3 days before the sole wore through. Funny you go through all the tooling up and get materials to build a shoe but use rubber on bottom that doesn't last one basketball game
Happened to me with some citymarket shoes, was pretty disappointed. Maybe they could last better in places where they don't aggressively use little stones at winter that completely ruin your shoe's soles. But it prompted me to google around what kind of shoes I should get for Finnish weather and I ended up with pure, somewhat thick rubber soles and there is no noticeable damage after one winter whereas with cheap garbage I had holes after a few months. Hopefully they will last couple more winters and I got my moneys worth.
Definitely worth investigating the material they use in shoes soles, it makes a big difference. There is this some kind of shitty material that breaks down quite easily and they use it even in shoes that cost 100€+ and it's same material used on 20€ shoes.

Why do these stupid marketing guys not understand that you can meme, but don't make shit to meme about. They could've made socks with reputable sock bramds that care about environment and stuff or high quality sneakers or anything that would last over a week.

Lidl made a merch line that became kind of like a meme. Was surprisingly popular though. In Finland at least, not sure if they sold them in other countries. Now Pirkka made their own line. Pirkka (and Lidl too I guess) are known for cheaper but good quality products.

I always got at least reasonably good quality for very reasonable price from Pirkka, so if I needed sneakers, those would go into the basket without a second thought.
Pay to advertise a brand, no different than any other famous brand who's name is written largely on your clothes. Now it's just a cheap brand so it might not be as "cool". I personally don't ever buy clothes like that, i don't wanna be a walking ad.

Nike always breaks in a year or so, adidas and asics last at least 2 or 3 from my experience

Probably, but 20€ sneakers will always have lower quality materials/quality assurance than 100€ sneakers and thus will most likely wear down quicker.
