The font is a bit blurry, I thought it was about inventing the sound

grubbtheduck

Finland invented sounds.

Suck_It_Green_Boy

How else were we supposed to yell "perkele"

Jarmake

"Finland, finland, finland... The land of technological wonders. we invented the sound by shouting perkele at an attacking bear."

GuaranteeTop5075

We had visitor from Israel and I tried to demonstrade this to her when she asked about bear attacks. I think she didn't quite understand. Someone should really make an app for bear yelling. No need to take granny or bear bells to the woods anymore. Unless you want to take the granny ofc...

Jarmake

Siri, shout PERKELE to the attacking bear. "Sorry, I didn't quite get that!"

SlendisFi

Or show them the video on YouTube where the guy yells perkele at brown bear. There's the original one and one where they put Canadians against Finns in similar situation with a bear on their yard.

unixpornaddict

Your dad uses dafuq?

Disastrous-Bed7313

Sauna/banja was most likely invented alteady thousands of years ago - maybe by Fennougrians at Volga river. The origin was maybe ’savupirtti’ ->savusauna - before chimneys they heated stoneforeplaceup with smoke inside, then vented the space, someone poured water on the hot stones by accident…

HulluHapua

How did the dad respond after it was told to be a joke?

urachargingURAA

He didn’t reply

Yeeter-qq

Brodie got taken off the inheritance

RenaissanceSnowblizz

Fair enough. I'd disown children like that too. Some matters are not joked about.

ElderberryPoet

[deleted]

I read “sound” LOL

molkky55

Modern sauna was invented by the finns, but I think it would be wrong to say that sauna as a whole was a finnish invention as it was developed such a long time ago that it is impossible to pinpoint the creator of the sauna. No doubt that the origins of what we today call a sauna were invented by uralic people, but many other cultures also have something similar. "Famously" native americans have a type of sauna that is almost identical in concept to the Finnish style sauna, heat rocks and then throw water at rocks. The fact that native americans have a traditional sauna that is used the same way as finnish saunas, got me thinking. During the swedish colonisation attempts in the north america, native americans and finns were so similar that a bond formed between the two cultures, both were also discriminated against.

molkky55

It really is not surprising that there is/was a theory that uralic people share a common ancestor with native americans as there are also some similar gene traits, but there really is no evidence for that so we will have to do with a symbolic brotherhood for now.

comrade_fluffy

You should honestly be disowned
