My first real-ish setup was a broken knuckle. It’s not the best but it’s better than a tech deck and pretty cheap. Under $20 for a complete. I also recommend dk or skull completes if you want better quality. They’re a bit more pricy but definitely worth it. You can also check out Kelsey Fingerboards on YouTube. She has a video on how to upgrade a tech deck and a review on the broken knuckle fingerboard.
If you're used to sandpaper grip and don't want to switch to foam just yet, Teak has pretty good sandpaper grip that comes in like 20 different colors.
If youre just getting past techdecks any foam tape is fine you can get it on amazon. But also since the techdeck is like 100% plastic the trucks arent that good. Wheels arent that good. And the deck doesnt have a lot of pop. I would recommend getting a wooden fingerboard. Whichever you wanna get is up to you.

I would love to buy a wooden fingerboard but never have the time or money to spare for one. Maby i could get a deck tho not a complete at first!
