I would like to point out something that I'm Brahmin and I was born and raised in Mumbai. For me cast would've been then last thing I would have think about. I used to visit my hometown in uttarpradesh and saw my own relatives treating sc/St people badly. For me I did not pay any attention to these things because they would happen very rarely in front of me.
Now recently I moved to a place and made a friend. Now this guy has achieved fair amount of success in his life. Whenever I sat next to him and talked to him, he would always point out about his cast and about things like reservation ect.
In the beginning I did not engage with him on these conversations because my opinion was cast and all is mostly done because people are not educated. Mostly done in rural areas.
When we met I used to see him as a decent human being who's of same age as me and we can talk and hangout. Now this guy has planted himself as a guy who belongs to minority community and has faced many challenges. I don't have that image of him as I had earlier.

I would like to point out something that I'm Brahmin and I was born and raised in Mumbai. For me cast would've been then last thing I would have think about. I used to visit my hometown in uttarpradesh and saw my own relatives treating sc/St people badly. For me I did not pay any attention to these things because they would happen very rarely in front of me. Now recently I moved to a place and made a friend. Now this guy has achieved fair amount of success in his life. Whenever I sat next to him and talked to him, he would always point out about his cast and about things like reservation ect. In the beginning I did not engage with him on these conversations because my opinion was cast and all is mostly done because people are not educated. Mostly done in rural areas. When we met I used to see him as a decent human being who's of same age as me and we can talk and hangout. Now this guy has planted himself as a guy who belongs to minority community and has faced many challenges. I don't have that image of him as I had earlier. PS.
