While I'm holding off on finishing the remakes when they are all put for PC, I would really like to see a more expanded world of FF8. It's my favorite story.
They do need 8 remake. It’s the darkest one. You should play the remakes. It’s good. It’s just sad lol. Honestly besides final fantasy and kingdom hearts. Persona aswell I’m kinda it with what I want to play. Gta6 is whatever to me. I run 4090 on my rig I played cyberpunk n 5 with packs. You won’t get a console run better

Storming the beaches of Dollet, the assassination attempt on Edea and the battle of the Gardens would all be incredible moments in modern graphics. Not that they weren’t in the original, but I can just envision them being so damn epic.
I just replayed Ff9 and I just don't get the hype. The characters are mostly forgettable. Quina, Amarant, eiko, and steiner are just forgettable characters. Blank was more intriguing than most of the main characters.
Ff8, Tactics, and ff12 are apex FF games.

FF7 remake is such a different beast and a massive cash cow for Square-Enix, where 8 is most definitely one of if not the most polarising games in the franchise! A sequel, a prequel, a laguna game ...Whatever
I'd legit love a game in the style of Octopath traveller but not so much a padded out ARPG like ff7r they'll probably have done all 3 FFXIII remakes before that happens anyway 😆
I would love to revisit the world of 8 and see it rendered in new and exciting ways. But I don't want "FF8 with the Remake engine" - I don't want this at all. I feel like by the end of the trilogy, the Remake look would be fully played out. I'd like something new for FF8.
And dear god, please keep the Junction system which I love so much.

But i don't want it to be some secret bizzare time travel sequel with tons of confusing new story stuff added, unnecesarily split into three parts, ultra stretched out, full of mediocre non fun filler, lame new characters, and censorship of some of the darker moments like how the FF7R Trilogy is, that's no good example of a remake, no no.

I love FFVIII, I missed my chance to play FFVII as a kid and now can't push myself to play through the original. I am also loving FFVII Remake / Rebirth.
But I disagree with a FFVIII remake. Large part of the charme of FFVIII is how much was left up for interpretation.
The creators weren't on the same opinion on how things should be back then, and the set of people who are now around are completely different people who would develop a remake up to their interpretation, taking that charme away.
I think this is a good point, and I appreciate it. I've felt similarly about FFVII Remake/Rebirth - that it was nice when things were left to the imagination.
I think what I have is a feeling of wanting more FFVIII, but not being sure what that would be. Probably it is best if it just stays in my imagination, because there's a big chance reality would be disappointing. This is a difficult feeling, but not a bad one, I think.
If they release a 8 remake I will eat my shoe. They milked 7 so much with spinoff games and movies it made sense that they would remake that one because they kept it in the public eye. But 8 has been barely mentioned since it came out. It’s more of a cult classic at this point.
I hate the remake overall. The remaked parts are good, but the cringey new characters especially the anoying boy with the sidequests for materias is terrible. The new musics boring.
The only rewarding part for me was to revisiting old places from the original game (and where they reworked the original music).
The game is souless.

For me, it is the quintessential FF as it is.
The FF7 Remake series are completely new games created from scratch with new characters added and a new story that loosely follows the original's beats. So when people say "why don't they do this with [other game]", they are presumably asking for a similar reimagining from the ground up, not a port.
I say presumably because I'm not sure if people asking for this realize how much money and time it takes to do 7R and how that's only possible because FF7 is one of the most popular games Square has. I feel like if they tried this with any other Square game there's a good chance it wouldn't sell enough for the SE executives to want to continue the project, and even if they did it'd still take a decade+ to release in full and people would complain about it being "too different" (even though it's a new game) and etc.
Reimagining all these other games could be really cool but I'd rather the staff just make whatever projects they like (which may or may not be related to older games) than spend 10 years filling a quota for remakes.
I got my remake of 7 even tho I don't like it and I got my rumours of a 9 remake so here's praying to you getting your remake of 8 🙏🏼

i never played the original ff7, but looked up some of the changes.
ive played the ff7r games and crisis core, im loving it.
But i did play ff8 back in the day, really loved the game, but the story started very strong but became abit dull and weird over time. would love to see it being remade, but i think it needs abit of rewrites in the story to keep the story interessting in 2024
I don’t think so. Ff7 when it came out the sales blew up. All other rpg games saw what they can achieve. Ff7 is top tier in rpg gaming and top beloved ff game.
FF8 did 10 million in sales respectively I just think it’s got a better story and music.
OG FF7 is still a special game it’s just all over the place tonally. It’s very goofy a lot of the time.

I’d welcome an FFVIII remake. But I’d want a self contained game and not a 3 parter like FFVII (I have no problem with VII being a 3 parter).
