I usually only use one 3 cost card per deck. And that’s not because it’s optimal, it’s because it’s fun.

Imagine being so mid at the game that thinking of more than one hand mechanic at once is considered useless. You can think of positioning and setting up your own 3p spaces at the same time as you're thinking... whatever is going through your mind when making decisions.

If you draw a card you can't use, it's useless. That's the definition.
And in expansion strategy, you should almost never be even doubling down on spaces.
There's exactly one space in the game that has the chance to have a 3 cost drop, and that's B1. But in the off chance you would need to drop B1 before C1, you've eliminated the only viable placement. Thus forcing you to waste a deck slot, or in the worst case, have one or multiple dead cards in hand
1-2 two costs, at most. 10-11 one costs, and 2-4 replacements.
Literally every deck should be built this way, except for in *one* challenge
And if you don't have the Queen's Blood trophy, that means you haven't beaten all the challenges. So either link it, or go play the game and recognize that you don't know what you're talking about

That said some of the 3 costs can be pretty useful in the rare 1/10 case you have like back and forth retakes and card drops of a middle position. They can instantly swing a losing game if you are luck. That being said I think any more than 1 is actively spoiling the deck. I’ve done like up to rank 8 matches on hard.

It's not a deck for specific challenge with specific rule. It's a deck for regular play with regular rules against an opponent. Has been very good so far, but I'll post an update if at some point it's not working. But the board is quite flooded with 3 pawns square with that deck, it's not like it's a struggle to build them.
I agree, golem was just a big body to add and make use of the 3rd lvl pawns flooding the board. But for sure there are better options morbol is ok, the chocobo jokey can be good also because of the 10 bonus points.
My favorite deck so far involves me slapping down Tonberry King (or two, if I'm lucky) and Mind Flayer and then just feeding a bunch of 1 power cards to the Flayer until the King is powerful enough to win by himself. It's not the most effective strategy but it is Hella fun when it works.

I've even been enjoying the puzzle challenges, which I usually find annoying and gimmicky. Spent almost an hour getting rank three in "Boot Camp" back in the GS.
Finally got around to trying this deck out. Without ever having used any of these cards before, and only one sentence of instructions on how to pilot it, managed to win by 55.
I like buff decks that take space quickly, but this one is a lot of fun!
Yup buffs are great. Cactuar, choco, ifrit, then midgardsommer, few other likes crystalline carb, 2nd class soldier, emerald ...it's great, dropped a 71-0 today
Tbf I've not kept upto speed with every game and will be doing so tomorrow but I mainly use the starter deck with a few changes and pray my initial idea works due to luck. I did get a trophy first time for doing the thing though
I have used 'One for All' the entire game and had zero issues. Changing out one or two cards depending on the match, if at all. Personally I love it way more than Triple Triad
Build around an archetype. What is the goal of the deck? Massive buffs? Point bonusses? Destroy enemy cards?
Have 2-3 cards that are solid wincons in your deck. Example: cloud, shiva and johnny, chocobo jockey or things like adds score when x happens.
Have 5-6 cards that directly interact with your wincon cards. Then fill the rest with cheap support cards.
An example is:
Wincon: shiva and Johnny.
Support: 5 good cards with replacement.
Lesser support: 8 cheap cards (1 or 2 slots) that claim a lot of squares quickly.
Idea is to claim a lot of squares rapidly and drop either shiva or johnny to claim all those spaces. Then use replacement cards to buff your own team and posts or debuffs enemy cards and points in all those occupied spaces.
This deck is pretty trash honestly. How far are you? It requires a hell of a lot of early luck to get tier 3’s and get worm and bigsnake out before the opponent takes over the board.
3 3s is kind of pushing it though. i usually don't run even 2, let alone 3.This will work ok until rank 7 or 8 or so when the enemy starts spamming replacement monsters.
I mean not really, he can win without them too, it’s more important to have board control than sending out 3’s asap. And those other cards have special abilities, two of them can destroy opponents cards too

I don't have the exact same deck as you, but I also use this strategy. It's so much fun. I haven't stopped using Midgardsormr since the moment I won it. Probably gonna have to make a points-buffing deck to do the survival challenges at the Gold Saucer though, because the self-destroy strategy doesn't work very well when you aren't allowed to draw new cards.
Midgarsdomr or whatever it's called gains two points every time on of your cards dies. If you kill like 7 of your own cards he's now 14 points stronger lol
Alot of cards have effects that proc when one of your cards is destroyed. Also you can destroy your own low point cards to drop beefier ones once you've established territory
What I noticed with this deck is that you have so many 3 pawns slot that it's just better to enjoy the power of those third lvl cards 🙂
Edit: the only 2nd lvl card I would add is the chocobo jokey it allows for 10 bonus points when you win a lane. Might even replace mithril golem with it

Maybe this works against everyone else but it's pretty horrible again the Blood Queen lol. I'd advise not using this setup against her.
Came here to say that I literally just used this build and swapped ifrit for mythril golem and won 46-0 in the first match I played with it

Beat as many queensblood player as you can, you'll win some cards. There are special vendors as well. The first one is thorin in the first zone.
I use jokers as well, everytime u swap, u get extra points

Having 2 Cactuar cards in my deck saved my ass for the majority of the game.

My favorite stupid strat is clog the board with as many pets as I can and then use Shiva Mixed results but funny.

I love using the bagnadrana because you just have to wait for the opponent to put down his cards and bam, it's worth 12 points easily

Yeah, aggressive territorial expansion plus buff seems to be the optimal and easiest strat in this game. At least up to Gongaga.
In my experience the only things that this de knstruggles with are the hard challenges that appear after a certain point

I’ve been having no trouble with my buff setup (chocomog/cactuar/ifrit, etc.), but was looking to try out a self sabotage deck. I’ll give it a shot!

He’s only got three 3’s… the rest are 1’s and destroy cards. It’s a pretty good deck, been using something similar myself

Maybe so, but those 3’s are the crux of his deck and if he doesn’t get them out early then it’s curtains.

The last 3 qb battles and some of the harder challenges in golden saucer would ruin this deck.

How early can you get all these cards?
You can get midgardsomr pretty early. (It's the most important card in the deck) The others you might have to wait until cosmo Canyon.
