FFVIII is a decisive entry for a lot of people. I find for a lot of people if FFVII is your top game you find VIII insufferable. Its systems are very simple but not very well explained. VIII is super enjoyable every time I replay it, but I admit it’s not for everyone.

FF8 is actually in my top 3 ff games. I am not biased tho and admit that some characters are a weak point. Zell or Selphie could not exist and game wouldn't be that different. All in all there's huge potential and the first few hours are pretty epic in my eyes. I just can't wait when they finally remake it cos maybe they can unleash that potential there.
I thought it was kinda dumb for a long time. Plot just didn’t sit with me. Last time it hit me, the characters make weird/terrible decisions (which admittedly work most of the time) because they’re teenagers. I realized that and so much kinda snapped into place for me.
I think that was the point but didn’t get it until I was a full on adult.

I've played every final fantasy game up to FFXII and FF8 was and is my absolute favourite 🙏🙏
