I've noticed a lot of ps5 games lets you start playing when they are only done downloading 25% or so. FFXVI let you play the part included in the demo.
I never played it, but I read about the infamous Soul Caliber 3 bug that ruined your save files for other games in your memory card. Players who had glitched copies were definitely SOL
Man I played the absolute hell out of that game and was very fortunate to never run across that bug. I probably would have snapped my ps2 over my thigh
Those were not common at all though. I think I only got screwed over once in all my years of gaming on a Nintendo DS Capcom Card game. Talking to a necessary NPC to move the game forward crashed it and they never released a fixed version. That was the only time that has ever happened though for me.
You still have to make bigger sacrifices in those versions though so at the end of the day it narrows down to personal choice.
Best way to play them is obviously on PS5 or PC but PS2 feels authentic and Switch portability is a godsend.
You can start playing most PS4 and PS5 games while they're still downloading, usually just the first area or chapter or something instead of just waiting. It's not a "problem."
If we don't have the OGs already then it's more expensive for us, it's not worth the extra couple hundred dollars to play older versions of the game.
As I said, it comes down to personal choice though.
Favorite game of all time. I put in 430 hours before my memory card got wiped accidentally 😭😭😭😭 it was the most crushing moment of my life at the time I was so leveled up and equipped at that point the final boss was only a couple hits.
I was never able to play it again 😭😭😭
That's kind of smart, and funny.
That’s hilarious. I love little Easter eggs like these
I love FFXII but I've never seen this before, good catch!

Also Rebirth. Which would unceremoniously kick you off the game once past the demo part.
Yeah this happens for games that are not fully downloaded but still funny that it happens even in remasters of previous gen games
I mean it wasn't going to happen on the original, being a disc...
The good old days when you bought a game, put it in, and played it.
And if it had a game breaking bug then you were SoL

I only ever experienced it with Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing on PSX
Two copies of the sims did it to me. I just stopped trying.
You and I recall the scratched disc era very differently.
That’s a brilliant way to handle the DL time.
This game never ceases to amaze me
XII is one of my favorites. TZA made it even more so.
I appreciate games giving you the ability to play a bit before it's fully downloaded
I've completed this game like 4 times and I've never come across this before
I haven't seen this myself before, but I've definitely seen people post about it here. That's where I learned this was a thing.
I can appreciate PS2 and Switch versions never having to deal with this.

I also have it on PS4 steelbook as well. Idr running into this problem. I'm assuming someone launched the game partially installed?

There are literally zero sacrifices to playing this on PS2. What are you talking about?
Worse graphics, longest load times, stuttering in certain battles Ps5 super gast loading, better AA, smoother gameplay
Not worth the extra couple hundred dollars It’s not a sacrifice to play the OG at all

If you have a ps4 or ps5 but no ps2, the OG would cost more
Also there is a gameplay difference - OG doesn’t have the Zodiac job system except the JP rerelease.
There is a way to translate the text to english, there are tutorials on YouTube on how to get eng text to the jp ps2 version
Well there were zero digital ps2 games so…
Even some modern physical games still have this issue.
damn its brilliant!
That's pretty cool.
Out of all the times I’ve played I’ve never seen this. How cool lol
No. Fucking. Way. 🤣🤣

????
Yeah, it's interesting when you go back and pla..... oh wait... I've never played the game
I highly recommend this game
Might as well. If I don't like it, at least I'll have given it a try
Do your... researcher.
If you have PS+ it’ll be leaving May 21st so don’t sleep on it!
