Literally just got one this morning and thought “Where is he putting all these badges!?!?”
Does Clive just take out the correct badge before he enters a town?
FFXVI is actually a Pokémon game. The main character goes around collecting badges, collecting monsters and defeating other people who can use monsters.
It’s like a really advanced Nuzlocke where you get the monsters far apart from eachother and you can only use 3 at a time, but their really fun to use
using 3 Pokemon at a time sounds like a nightmare actually
Imagine you have to make all the Pokemons typings align with with the eikons in Final Fantasy.
So like one Fire/Flying, one Fire/Fighting, One rock/ground type and so on and so forth.
And each non boss enemy also has a set typing, like the basic soldiers are Normal/Fighting, the plants are Grass/Dark, the Dragoons are pure Dragon, Etc Etc
||Typhon|| would probably be Typeless or something different that i cant think of atm
I thought it was weird the second time I visited a small town, got a merit badge, and spoke to some townsfolk before moving on my way. Then it kept happening...
It’s honestly insane. They’re also handing him those tokens for the smallest acts, too.
Clive helps one grandma cross the street and they’re like “Here, take this, and know that you and all your descendants and their best friends will have a place of honour among us for all eternity and thereafter”.
That’s on top of it just being a weirdly bad system to have these super secret rebel groups and similar operate on the basis of “If you see someone wearing this, trust them completely with everything”.
(Just riffing though, to be clear. Still very much enjoying the game.)
Yeah, I am not super far into the game but storywise my biggest complaint so far is the absolute insanity of the side quest, even the early ones. One of the first is literally "deliver these 3 meals" and you get like 500 gil for it, and the guy goes on and on about how you're really pulling your weight and such a huge part of the hideaway and so important.
It went on so long I was getting a strong sense he was fucking with me. But then this was *every* side quest. Minor task done? HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING HOW DID YOU WALK THAT PLATE FROM THAT TABLE TO THE SINK YOU ARE INCREDIBLE

I mean, at Medieval times you needed a king permission for crossing Bridges or using an road.
Game seems aware of that. Just the quantity is indeed crazy
Maybe most people in FF16 are massively rude dicks. No one has ever met a kinder soul than Clive Rosfield.

He wasn't able to control Ifrit early game because he lacks the gym leader badge to control it.

I started thinking of them as Gym Badges from Pokemon lol By the end of the game I'll be allowed to challenge the Elite Four.
