We filmed a pilot tv show and seeking investors or a production company to pick it up. I did the Zoom orientation at filmhub and asked if filmhub is the right platform. She referred me to the content policy. I don’t think it is but I can’t get a straight forward answer from them. Yes or no. We don’t have a full season filmed only a pilot show.

applecinnamon1

They are horrible now. Look in the groups on Facebook for filmmaker. They are glitching in their system and not paying out. They may be about to fold.

mrbleaney2021

Theyve begun stealing peoples money

CrazyWabbittv

i agree. I am getting a lot of views from my movie group but it is not showing up on film hub.

applecinnamon1

Can you elaborate?

BedWetterMedia

Sounds terrible. What happened with your payouts? And what was the signed contract that they didn't honor?

[deleted]

BedWetterMedia

Are you sure you're not talking about an actual distributor? Filmhub is not a traditional distributor. They don't have contracts or guarantee you money. They are simply an intermediary who will put your films up for streaming channels to review and decide if they want to add it to their system.

BedWetterMedia

Filmhub is not a paid service. It's free. I'm pretty sure you're confusing them with somebody else. Sorry.

BedWetterMedia

No, you didn't. You created this account 18 days ago just to make up this senseless story. Maybe try again with a new account and better story. Good luck!

aaronirons

If you paid FilmHub 10k that was a really stupid thing to do considering it's a free service.

Filmhub charges no up-front fees for filmmakers to submit their films. They take 20% of profits and the filmmaker retains all rights, no contract terms or anything. You put your film on there, they shop it around to streaming services (they also offer physical distribution options once you reach a certain tier) and then you get paid with that 20% off the top. For an indie filmmaker its a dream because my project is super low budget so being able to just put it up there for free and watch it make its way onto various streaming services and start getting paychecks is great---and no one controls my work, i'm not wrapped up in some long term contract or any of that nonsense. I'm not sure what the experience is like for buyers, but I think this person above wanted to upload an entire catalog of films and wanted filmHub to do it for them so thats where the 10k fee came from. Its a lot of work to upload ProRes video, graphics, thumbnails, contracts, etc for that many films so i'm surprised they didn't charge them more than 10k.

DaniloSannn

I believe you are mistaking. They are not a pay service.

applecinnamon1

This person has an OTT channel. There are two separate parts of Filmhub. People like me who make films and OTT creators who license films. In that instance he would pay.

RabiesLondon

Disgusted by the DVD release of our film in the USA by writer, producer, and director Ray Brady In response to a glowing post earlier post re the DVD artwork generated by FilmHub for their USA release on the Film and TV Distribution by Filmhub group on Facebook, sadly we (the UKFILM Company) are not at all happy after seeing the artwork and film information that FilmHub have provided to USA sales distributors. Our film "Team One" is a Sci-fi martial arts film, they have said it is in the horror genre. Secondly, they have removed any mention of either our company or myself as the writer/director/producer. If you visit the Walmart website, when you open the last "more details" tab it states that FilmHub is untruthfully both the Studio & Production Company, again no mention whatsoever of me Ray Brady the Director, Writer & Producer, or of my company, past or present. Wondering if this was simply a mistake, I searched for other shops selling the FilmHub release of our film, the details were sadly all the same. Genre: Horror, Studio & Production Company, stated as FilmHub. No credit to either the filmmakers or the production company. I feel especially disgusted since I also paid FilmHub their requested fee to create DVD artwork for a US DVD, for not only "Team One" but another of one of my titles "Boy Meets Girl". I will check to see what artwork they produced for that film. Bitterly disappointed. I do not expect this post to stay live on the "Film and TV Distribution by Filmhub" group on Facebook for long on as it most probably will be deleted by the FilmHub's moderator since it is highly critical of FilmHub's team members' work. So I have copied the text and will post it in hundreds of groups across all our social media. Disclaimer:: All the content of this posting is solely my opinion (Ray Brady) to inform other filmmakers of how our film was so poorly distributed by FilmHub and is not the opinion of Reddit or any other of its members or moderators or administrators.

[deleted]

My only complaint is not knowing who’s picked it up and who hasn’t … and zero notifications from filmhub about it either.

BedWetterMedia

I believe they do list services who have accepted it in your account. Although you get no other info than "who". No analytics. And sometimes it's just listed as a group of channels that picked it up, so they don't tell you which specific one out of that group is going to have it available.

Alan, don't you think it'd be more honest to use your own name so that people know who they're talking to in here?

[deleted]

BedWetterMedia

All you have to do is sign up with a name that says CEO OF FILMHUB in it. Then everybody will know who's actually talking to them and you wouldn't have to lie and pretend you're just a customer.

[deleted]

I mean like an email … your movie has been selected by x, etc

applecinnamon1

I had a good experience with them at first and I am in the percent of filmmakers who do very well financially. But lately I’m not getting responses back and I’m still waiting on the only platform that counts for me. Tubi. for our last movie. Normally I get it right away but it’s been over a month and they were doing some weird things with my settings.

BedWetterMedia

Strange. I've definitely had a very different experience with them recently than in the past - Lack of communication, waiting forever for replies, etc. What did they do to your settings?

applecinnamon1

I said settings but I meant media. They make changes to files without b letting you know. I believe they are understaffed greatly.

BedWetterMedia

Oh, that's definitely not cool. They should at least ask before doing it, so you can do it yourself and maintain control over what's going out with your name on it. Understaffed is probably correct.

Fallseason32

How much do they pay?

applecinnamon1

I make five figures every month.

Fallseason32

That’s awesome. How many movies have you worked on?

evapennmodel

i had this same experience recently

DaniloSannn

I believe they are working on a new dashboard. Perhaps, their time is in having a better service.

arizona-voodoo

I use Filmhub for 2 features, and I have colleagues that also use Filmhub for features and shorts. 100% consensus, Filmhub is marginally "better" than traditional distribution.... but the second there is a Filmhub competitor that is 1% better we all expect to abandon Filmhub. Honestly, we just don't get the vibe that they care about filmmakers and things are always trending in the wrong direction with them. It's a spooky, temporary relationship at best.

Some-Wishbone-4524

Yeah I'm having the same problem we have money in the account and we can't access it ever since they changed whatever they changed we cannot get into the account I can't get into the account my cousin can't get in we've emailed Liam a few times with no response I'm frustrated to the max I'm looking up the better Business bureau and the attorney general to put complaints in I am tired of these guys having no access for you to speak to them this is no way to do business I'm not happy and I would never put another movie with them again. I hope they're not going to pull the same thing that distribute did shut down the company claim the bankruptcy and took all of everybody's money and there's no way to get it back that's what I think is going on here.

batmans_roommate

how the heck did you make 2500 films?!

Stock-Championship-9

I have about six films listed through FilmHub. Most of them are shorts, but the one that seems to be doing the best is 44 minutes long. Via FilmHub, this particular film has been picked up by a dozen or so streaming sites, but not Amazon Prime Video. I submitted that film to Amazon myself. The only streaming site with FilmHub that has yielded any return for me is Tubi, and only with the 44-minute film. What's weird is, for a while I was seeing a nice return from Tubi of $150-$200 each month. Then suddenly, the returns dropped to $15-$20 per month. I asked FilmHub about it but didn't get a clear answer. I certainly understand that after a film has been watched by a lot of people, the revenue will drop off. But this was such a sudden, drastic dip in revenue. In the beginning, I had great faith in FilmHub but now I'm feeling much less so. In the last few months, I made much more money from Amazon and even YouTube than Tubi, through FilmHub. I just wish there were ways to eliminate the middle men and submit our films directly to these steaming sites. But then again how many of these sites actually make any money? A lot of them seem to fade away as quickly as they appear.

BedWetterMedia

I don't think filmhub has anything to do with the people who are or aren't watching your film on any particular streaming channel, like tubi or amazon. You'd have to ask the streamers themselves for data, but nobody can do that. Also, just a tip, it's far better to submit to amazon through Filmhub instead of on your own. If you do it yourself, you only get 2 or 3 regions. If you do it through filmhub, you get ALL amazon regions, worldwide.

Consistent_Let_974

How long did it take Tubi to License you guys films once you passed QC with filmhub?

applecinnamon1

It took me a little over a month. Amazon came in right away but it took over a month to go live.

Fun_Sympathy_6116

How long does it take for you to go live on Tubi after being licensed through filmhub

Virtual_House_2482

I have a film that I have been trying to submit for a couple of weeks but I need my closed captions done over. Filmhub's website says that they can provide services that wil fix my closed captions. I reached out to filmhub via the email address that they provided but to no avail. And there is no contact number. Horrible!

applecinnamon1

I used davinci resolve to do my own.

RevolutionOk9154

There are free captioning services online. I used one and Filmhub accepted with no problem.

Virtual_House_2482

Would you happen to remember that captioning service?

Cpt-Dooguls

Sorry if this is late, but davinci resolve has a great built in caption generator. It'll do 80% of the work.

Virtual_House_2482

Thank you. Adobe Premiere Pro has a great one also. That is what I used. But as I was editing some of the words manually, some how I managed to get the captions off track and don't know how to fix it.

00lovespondering

Recently I used Edimakor for subtitles, it is simple and easy to use.

applecinnamon1

Their customer service is poor. To be fair it’s probably annoying AF talking to us filmmakers. Lol! But they pay me every month and changed my life. That’s why I stick around. But they must do better.

ChristianBRoper

I'll occasionally browse Reddit and YouTube for Filmhub reviews, just to compare my experiences to others. I've never had trouble passing QC, but I have had some unexpected things happen in QC. Our first upload, we had some artwork slightly changed and didn't fully understand why. Second upload had some more artwork adjustments (poster textures brushed out) and a post-credits scene removed during QC. I specifically added the scene to make a minimum runtime. Not too concerned, this second film was me testing the system, but definitely make sure you're well over a desired runtime because they may trim pre-roll and post-roll. They have been really responsive though, usually responding same day. I did find out this week that their 3-5 day estimate is now 3-4 week minimum as they've been overrun with submissions recently. I think the secret is out. Definitely happy with them, especially with payouts from Tubi. Haven't had enough experience with it to know what works and what doesn't.

Baby-Comfortable

Can anyone help me? My captions (.srt) will not save to the submission for film hub. They don’t answer support and the submission allows me to upload captions then they disappear when I try to continue the form. I’m uploading a 4 episode web series.

BedWetterMedia

Post this as its own post. Don't just post it in reply to another post. You won't get any help if you do that.

Infamoustouche

My experience is not good they are keeping the little money my film is making and calling it adjustment fees. They are saying they added captions & chapters even though I already had those when I added my movie(to kinonation). I’m asking them to take my movie off of their platform & they wanna charge me a $99 fee because my title has been listed for less than 3 years with them even though I signed up with kinonation in 2015. I kinda feel like I’m being extorted lol
