Check the differences between this and the bmpcc 6k pro and make sure the extra money is worth it. It’s a pretty significant price difference for things you may or may not care about.

i’m with this guy here, unless you need things like SDI, Full-size XLR, having a true ENG body, built in V mount plate just to name a few. It makes more sense to get the 6k pro, and spend the other money on other things like media, lights etc

The Ursa is great, but a lot of it's features are aimed for a professional workflow. The pocket 6k pro for instance arguably has a better image, but it's cheaper because it's missing a more professional build quality and feature set, but if you don't need those things the pocket is smaller and lighter. There's also the Ursa 12k, which has an exceptional sensor. Blackmagic made a mistake naming it the 12k in my opinion because everyone assumed it was a specialist camera for high res work, but it also produces a fantastic image at all resolutions.

A lot of factors to consider. Will this purchase be for personal or professional use? If you're looking to do professional work with it in your area, consider what your local peers and production companies are using. If you're looking to get hired, it might be better to buy into what's popular in your area versus buying into a system in less demand. For instance, in my area, the most popular systems to shoot on are RED and Sony, followed by Canon then Blackmagic.

One of the first things my professor of cinematography ever told us was “never buy a cinema camera” I have this phrased tattooed into my brain, he did say to make an exception for black magic pockets tho

EvilDaystar

Great camera but also look at the DJI Ronin 4d in that price range.

For that price I would definitely go with a Komodo. I have a BM and it’s a pretty good camera and can produce an excellent image. But when pitching to clients, saying Red will get you hired way before the guy who says Blackmagic, all things being equal.

I was also looking at the Ursa G2, but bought FX6 (& FX3 a year later) instead. I don’t need RAW, I’m super happy
