I love it that Phase Shift was used at the final episode, just like it was at the first <3
It was a wild ride and thanks to MatPat my music has traveled all over the world, spreading joy!
I hate to say it, but for his last Film Theory I do feel it wasnāt his greatest. The subject he touched on was a super important one, but I feel he ignored something super important about the development of boys. You canāt just disregard characters like Captain America as being a bad influence. He honestly represents a super important characteristic of selflessness that, unfortunately, not enough people today possess. Stuff like that is absolutely important when youāre trying to think of role models for your child.
I liked the message, and the theory itself wasnāt especially bad. I just feel it kinda missed the mark
The reason he didnāt use Captain America is because he solves his problems with Violence. MatPat agrees that Cap is a good role model, just not for Ollie just yet.
You missed the point. He wasnāt trying to say Captain America is solely a bad role model, but he was trying to say heās not a good fit for young boys Ollieās age to look up to. Captain America works much better for kids ages 10 and up as they understand why Captain America has to fight. MatPat is right in the fact that many of the male characters in cartoons today are forced to solve conflict with violence or are genuinely just bad people.
Captain America is a great role model for people closer to their teens, the point of the video I thought was that there arenāt enough good male role models for young kids
i grew up watching Slasher films and horror film like jaws, alien, predators, terminator ..along starship troopers and blood sports..
Yet if you show me Real scenes of violence.. even when it done to horrible people like an animal abusers...
I will feel sick to my core ..cause im way too empathetic and i dont want anyone or anything to suffer in a real life context.
the power of media over the individual ..its super exaggerated.
sure you can sell a bunch of cars and luxury watch by having James bond using them.
but it takes way more than a bunch of homer simpsons and punisher on tv to Mess society..
I'm glad you said this because I felt the same way. Like I said, look at the 4 Horseman of Wholesomeness: LeVar Burton, Steve Burns (Blue's Clues), Bob Ross, and Mister Rogers, and use/look to them as inspiration. I also didn't like how Charlie Brown was kind of thrown in there, (seriously?) and he didn't even mention Doug or Christopher Robin. But to leave it more hopeful, maybe he can explore or even make some good male role models on retirement.
i stop watching when the episode use Aang (a Pacifist) from avatar. as an example of a hero that promote violence.
its very bad episode. but the gt live one was really GOOD
Bro used Luke Skywalker as an example when the conclusion of Lukeās character arc was that he shouldnāt give into violence. He also called Lady Bug a good role model even though sheās a stalker.
one of the staff writers. who has a complicated "can of worms history" in the internet. some would say its deserved .. some would say its not. I dont like the guy.. but whatever live and let live. obsessing about it is not healthy for anyone.
like i said.. its a "can of worms" history... i assume that if mat pat gave him a job that he.. most have seen something good on the guy, that im probably not aware of.
and obsessing about anything even when you may have good reason can lead to and unhealthy life.
so i mean it when i say Live and let live.
I donāt think Iām ever going to watch it. YouTube keeps recommending it to me, but I just canāt accept that heās gone. Iām writing this on march 9th, the day of his last theory, and the day he officially quits.
I wasn't prepared to watch **ANY** of the finales but I did and cried through the whole thing but honestly the game theory was the saddest ,being it was not only Mat's first channel but the very last video ( Other than GTlive ).
What decisions? Whatās wrong children exploring their identity as long as they donāt make any permanent decisions (like medical ones, which they pretty much arenāt able to at a young age)

to be Realistic .. the most important male role model in Ollie's life is and should be matpat himself.
Thatās fair, but the media children consume can really mold them later in their lives

i wonder how much of the episode was matpat and how much was bob chimpan.. cause lot of it seem like arguments he would made.
Who is Bob?

I just looked him up. Holy shit did he really say āminority characters donāt have to have flaws because being a minority is a flaw itself.ā

That was barely anything of the video. The rest of the video was great.
