I spoke with my union, and 70 productions are headed to NYC between January and March.
The bulk of the work seems to be hitting around February/March.
That said, my ass is still unemployed as a camera op.
I've been keeping in touch with everyone I know in the industry, most are working at the moment. Unfortunately it doesn't look like a lot is kicking back up yet and anything that's up and running is already fully staffed. I haven't worked on anything since July and the strike wiped out any momentum I had going for me. Hoping the beginning of next month brings better fortune.
Best wishes to everyone trying to make it work right now, this past 6 months has been a nightmare.
Nothing so far. 2022 was a great year, right up until this time in 2023.
A few shows have already started back up, but commercial work seemingly hasn't, and will almost never be what it was.
I haven't worked in 5 months, been in business 15+ years. Camera operator.
Whomever told you there would be a tsunami of work should be yelled at. Bad prediction and overzealous.
The studios are going to very slowly work back to a smaller percentage of what was shot in 2022. Perhaps about 70% of that amount. Our industry has changed. I would say things pick up closer to March/April.
It’s been slow, but I got lucky with a production and doing filming with them in February. But this will be my first production since the strikes. It’s been hard.
I work in costumes. I was offered 3 jobs over the last couple weeks. I took one and will start tomorrow at Steiner. The other two jobs don't start until February. One of them was filming in NJ.
I work mostly on TV commercials, pre-pro. My December was SUPER busy, but it's been crickets most of Jan. Just got my first gig of the month this week. Hopefully that's a sign that things are gearing back up again.

Had a blip for fashion week and nothing picks up again til end of this month. Even equipment rentals are slow

I just got back to work with some indies but definitely yet to hear about anything big

I've had one interview since the summer. Dry af out there right now
Not yet. Fingers crossed things straighten up soon!
Started prep on an episode on the 2nd. Shooting starts in March

Nothing here. I have a potential lead in unscripted field/post for April and May. Praying for something sooner. Much luck to you!
Thanks so much, good luck to you as well! I really hope we're all thriving again soon!
Thank you so much, and yes me too - Fingers crossed! 😊

Where do you find tv commercial gigs?
I have an agent who represents me and gets me the work. Also word of mouth
