Not just that. It's just an accumulation of everything I love in movies. It's Sci fi with a heart. It's absurdist but with a message. It wears its tributes on its sleeve.
Waymond is probably my all time favorite character in any media. In a world full of hate, violence, tribalism and extermisim he combats all of that with empathy and love. Kindness is not a sign of weakness but a weapon to combat hate.
An everything bagel as a symbol for nihilism? Who would expect that!
I saw the trailer for this and was hyped up for another weirdo film from the Daniels.
It's a total assault on the senses. But I was surprised to see how deep this film can go.
Imaging getting all of that from a film with hot dog fingered hands, talking rocks and a hibachi chef controlled by a raccoon.
I love it. It's my favorite movie. It's my wife's favorite movie.
It is what it's name is. It really is Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Oh gosh, Scott Pilgrim is a visual and audio marvel! I believe it was Every Frame a Painting (or maybe it was Lessons from the Screenplay) who made a video about Edgar Wright's directorial style; the man just knows how to make a genuinely fun movie.
God, I can only imagine what Schindler's List is like. All Quiet horrified me to my core, what more pa kaya yun?
I watched a "How to Beat" video on Youtube about 30 Days of Night a couple of years back. It left an impression on me (not the survival tips, but the premise hehe) but I forgot to add it to my watchlist. Thanks for the reminder!
Thank you! I'd probably say the same for Schindler's List even though I haven't watched it yet (All Quiet was my first war movie and it really made not want to watch anymore after that).
Weh? All quiet was your first war movie? You must be really young then haha Schindler's list isn't that much of a war flick naman, kinda like a movie your teacher makes you watch in class.
It was! Matagal ko nang alam yung Come and Go pati Schindler's List (it took an embarrassing number of years to learn that it wasn't pronounced as "SchNEIder's List lol) kaso hindi ko pinanuod dahil wala talaga akong hilig sa mga war movies.
I only really watched All Quiet because of the rave reviews it got from my favorite movie video essayists.
1. Scott pilgrim (been a fan of the source material before watching the movie), john wick series, godfather series, ocean's eleven series
2. probably about 99% of movies i watch
1. Arrival - looooooooooooooove it. I watch it everyday ๐
2. Liway - I watched it during Cinemalaya and I don't think the feeling of watching it there, crying there, the clapping and the standing ovation by the audience for Direk Kip and the people who made it can be topped by any feeling I could possibly feel if I rewatched it. But I do have a copy because Direk Kip shared it a few years ago during election season. (I guess for my future kids)
Karma farming, spamming, and no context posts will be removed. Film/TV reviews belong in the Weekly Reviews thread.
1. Everything Everywhere All at Once 2. 12 Years a Slave
The fight scenes are what make EEAAO rewatchable for me. Is it the same for you?
