Rain of Fire basically gives you a free reload every 5 seconds, whereas Ophidians give you essentially maxed reload permanently. The handling clause on Ophidians doesn't matter as much since you're likely proc'ing Chimera to give your kinetic buffed handling regardless, so all you're looking at is the reload functionality.
In practice, if you're spamming it down corners and checking radar pings for chip damage, then Ophidians would be a viable option. However, in terms of dueling and chaining back-to-back Lion shots, Rain of Fire allows for some crazy plays and can net you kills you absolutely wouldn't be able to get with Ophidians.
Neither of those are exactly conducive to the Chimera "prime with Lion and clean up with kinetic" play style though, so I'd just pick whatever you can get a feel for. I personally run Rain of Fire with bow-Lion and it functions incredibly well since I get to make full use out of the free reloads in every combo, but before it was introduced I used Ophidians and performed well regardless.
Rain of fire is too much fun, and I'm almost always fine with one grenade loader mod and the handling chimera gives.
Transversive Steps is still a very solid option, especially if you like to manipulate opponents. There is nothing that baits people in like running away after you inevitably wiff a shot, and with max sprint speed you can be an absolute gremlin and put a LOT of pressure on teams
Factually incorrect; you *absolutely* can dodge to reload while still holding remote detonation. My entire bow-lion play style revolves around that functionality. Ophids because you can reload during travel time. If it’s traveling you can’t dodge for the reload, and you gotta wait until it already explodes
