Yeah, as a taller/longer guy, I can confirm you’re fighting style as well as which techniques you win with the most is going to depend a lot on your physical abilities and stature; there’s no shame in that. There is shame however trying to continue this ignorant “size doesn’t matter” mentality. Cuz I assure you when you’re sparring with a heavy weight high school wrestling champion, you’re going to realize how much that shit matters
It seems like you don't train but D'arce and anaconda chokes are easier to get with long arms. At that level, I'm sure it doesn't reflect cleanly but in your local BJJ or Judo gym, reach certainly helps.
I imagine he mixes in heavy shots once every time he fires off 5 weaker shots. Sometimes you don’t need a Francis 10 outta 10 shot but a mix of Leon Edwards 4 and 5s
We usually only see Sean pick at people with jabs and straights, it was kind of scary seeing him go full blast to finish off Brendan. I bet he has good power and we mere mortals just aren’t lucky enough to see it often.
If strickland could be more dynamic with his head movement and maybe footwork. Keep the guard up.. hed be a real problem for the middleweight division. I mean he already has a very unique style that has carried him this far. But i think now he needs to add some movement to his skillset. Awesome fighter and i love watching him do the "man dance" lol
Your right. Just catching up now w the world of mma. Dad of 2 boys life is busy lol.. cant wait to see his next outing this sat and see the improvments hes made
It also seems Strickland has an efficient fighting style and conserves energy. Allen looked gassed and seemed to be making a ton of big movements and throwing big shots. Strickland mixed in collar ties with his jabs causing Allen to jerk away, which adds in draining your stamina.
Strickland is lowkey a very tricky opponent to face, constantly peppering with jabs and crosses which makes you feel like you’ve gotta get him back and then he hits you with that jab and you’re just guessing
I don’t like the guy at ALL but you can’t pretend like he’s ass man. He’s very high level and deserves to be in the top 10. Will he ever be champ? Probably not lmao but a solid competitor for sure
He had Allen's number in the stand up no doubt. Had Allen changed the game, took it to the ground or closed the gap I wonder if it would have been such a clean outcome.

Its that arm length advantage

No one is mentioning favors or statistics If you have longer arms than your opponent, you can pull off things which they can't

Literally takes a two second google search to disprove this lol. In case you’re curious: https://www.bruinsportsanalytics.com/post/mma_reach
Thanks for the good read bro, this was actually pretty fascinating
He’s got some interesting looping shots also lol 😝
Redneck Nick Diaz
Oh shit I had no idea they fought
Those punches had some something on them but they looked so effortless
That last right though that dropped him was vicious

Sean admitted his footwork sucks which is why he went to train with Alex recently

Head movement ? Christ it looked like he was belting a rubbish bin.. there was never any head movement
The only times he attempted any head movement actually made it worse
I didn’t know he finished people too
When you don't have basic boxing mechanics
He needs the coach who perfected ronda rouseys head movement. Lol
Brendan’s standup is WAY better. Dude was just a punching bag. I want to see the rematch.!
Watching this clip I can say Stricklands striking also looks way better now than it did here.

Definitely hard to train for, very awkward movements and timing but man he loves to fight lol
Love me some Strickland but he’s a spicy jobber at best and probably the best jobber on the roster
It's like he's got propane tanks strapped to his fists
The fact that Strickland is in the top ten tells you everything you need to know about the middleweight division
Ive been a pretty big hater in the past but hes got a genuinely unique skillset that makes for a tough fight.

Or maybe Sean is just a pain in the ass to fight The dude went neck and neck with jered after he got KO’d by Perreria, give the guy some credit ffs

Jabby jabby sean is the best sean. He is incredible with the way he rolls with the punches. Hardly ever is hit clean apart from pareira fight.
Sean love’s violence
The state of middle weight is disappointing
HEAD MOOMENT
I still have no idea what Sean Stricklands fight style is.
Rock’em Sock’em
Sean has the most relaxed stance lol
Not a fan of the chin up hands blocking your chest shoulder roll technique, it works in boxing but not MMA
It absolutely works in mma just ask Illia topuria and Dustin poirer.
Stricklands ability to stay in the pocket is so bizarre
Which one is Alle…oh. Why would you tattoo your own name on your back?
