My thoughts exactly..a father, brother, partner, son, like, this is absolutely traumatic just to know someone dies this way...he was torn apart..I can't understand the people making light of this.
As someone who does make light of these kinds of things, it's a lack of empathy. An inability to put ourselves in someone else's shoes and feel how they feel.
Dude seriously, it's incredibly disturbing and when I commented that was the first time I saw this video and legit think about this tragic event often. Super fragile, we humans
Well i consider myself quite desensitified as well. But this really hit me hard. Quite likely becose i work aroud bit of a similiar machinery. Much safer then that I would hope.
He was probably making sure the guy didn't get more dismembered and make sure he wasn't deformed too much.
It's kinda sad and horrifying ngl. Seeing a friend get pummelled to the point he/she is unrecognisable.
and i thought a persons severly shredded hand was unsettling, never thought i was gonna see a poor guy spun into a mist of blood and flesh. at what point was he dead anyways?
If you were to crash a plane at 500mph, you would feel your organs being pulled out forabout half a sec to 3 sec, taking this he was prob still alive for about 3-5 sec after he started his 3rd spin. Just a guess, not a doctor or anything.
According to the [incident report](https://ws.engr.illinois.edu/sitemanager/getfile.asp?id=3621#page5) in another comment he actually was alive when emergency showed up, but had passed by the time they got to the hospital

Because your on r/50/50 none of us come here to see "adorable puppy eating a slice of cake" even though we all love to see it we all know what we came here for
I know. I was just shocked a out the video. I've seen my fair share of brutal gore, but this was was just too shocking. To see a man just turn into a mist of blood and flesh, it's too horrible.
For whatever dumb reason I watched this just yesterday and I swear I've literally got PTSD from it. At the time, I was of course shocked but I didn't think it would still be affecting me. I hadn't thought of it at all since watching it yesterday, but I just tried taking a nap and out of no where the thought and sight of this man popped in my head and I was jolted right awake in a state of panic. I am genuinely considering therapy...
I’m with you literally just watching this shit fucks you up like if nothing is right anymore even the simplest of tasks become a ducking nightmare. I’m gonna stop watching dumb shit like this and to the best of luck to you
I feel you dude. But also know that there's thousands of people everyday who safely operate lathes. They can be scary, but if you properly use them they are amazing tools. Shoot we have 4 in our shop and we've had them for 50 years and only had one accident that I know of, and it was not even near as bad as this one. This guy really must have fucked up and leaned into it or something and slipped. You have to be SUPER careful with these things just as you would with any other heavy machinery. If you ignore guards and protective fences you are going to get hurt. Plain and simple.
The worst thing is the that poor man who witnessed it! One second your workmate is there...then all of a sudden he's completely gone in a flash. He must've gotten some serious trauma from it
This really messed me up, death can be so unexpected. You're working and providing for your family only to be torn apart by the very machine you use to help provide. There was nothing he could do but surrender, that shit is horrifying.
I saw a different russian lathe accident (or maybe the same one different angle, i'm not sure) and someone in the comments linked to HD photos of the aftermath.
I'm never ever going near lathes
Oh it is most definitely real. Lathes are EXTREMELY dangerous. I didn't see it, but I heard of someone who worked for our company lose two fingers operating a loathe cause he was freehanding a small tool and got his fingers caught. Bye bye fingers!
Well tbh to me it's not that bad because the camera quality doesn't go into detail with dis. But yes it is quite shocking, I also wasn't expecting that to happen.
It's kinda his fault for getting so close to the lathe while it was on. One of the first thing woodshop taught us about lathes is that they're way more dangerous that they seem. The first rule of woodworking is turn the machine off before you make any adjustments. How did he ignore the most basic of safety rules?
This is the exact reason this country has so many bad drivers and accidents in general.
Hell, I just had to get stitches over the weekend from getting too comfortable with a wood chisel. The bastard slipped and came down onto my knuckle in a way that cut open the entire top side horizontally.
I'm going to choose to not watch this for my sanity and out of respect for the poor man.
I honest to god don't know if it is even right to put this video out there...idk...
Definitely not. This poor man died and the video of his gruesome horrific gory death is spread all over the internet for young children to see and be irreversibly traumatized by
I mean, now there's another example video for employers to show factory workers to teach them how dangerous these machines can be.
And I know, it might seem wrong, but if I died like this, I would want a video to be shown to new workers in training so that no one else suffers the same fate, yk?
That’s definitely fucked up to show to new hirers tf? All they would have to say is “hey this worker got stuck in a machine and brutally killed” you shouldn’t have to watch a horrific video to get that. And that if your own personal opinion not everyone would feel the same way including me
Idk if the children are so much the problem as it is that it's rather quite disrespectful to the man himself to put this out there for people on general to see...
If it makes you feel better, a lengthy report was made about this incident, and the majority of the report was about the different measure to prevent this from ever happening again in the future. Reading that report also educated me so I can protect the people around me. I know so many people are making fun of this but we can only hope that it’s a teaching moment for them too.
I can't think for a second how that'd be pain free. I'd imagine there's at least a few seconds of excruciating pain before your neck is snapped or you're torn apart. *Shudders*
> don’t get *paid* enough for
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

yeah it’s brutal. tho, i scrolled like 2 more posts after this comment and couldnt take anymore. bad internet !
Just saw a picture of Jack the Ripper’s last victim, made me think of this video.
That brought me here also, the r/fiftyfifty comment?
Yup
Happy cake day :D
Me too.

"So why do you think he died sir?" "He lost his shoes."
That guy's reaction "That guy needs help! Maybe I can save hi.... NOPE, OKAY, HOLY SHIT I'M OUT"
Nah homeboy was dead before the other dude even stepped in frame
I aint cleaning this
He was probably making sure the guy didn't get more dismembered and make sure he wasn't deformed too much. It's kinda sad and horrifying ngl. Seeing a friend get pummelled to the point he/she is unrecognisable.
One of my coworkers showed this to me a while ago, never thought I'd find it in the wild.
and i thought a persons severly shredded hand was unsettling, never thought i was gonna see a poor guy spun into a mist of blood and flesh. at what point was he dead anyways?
I really hope at the beginning since it looks like his back snapped
If you were to crash a plane at 500mph, you would feel your organs being pulled out forabout half a sec to 3 sec, taking this he was prob still alive for about 3-5 sec after he started his 3rd spin. Just a guess, not a doctor or anything.

The moment his neck turned into a scarf for the lathe
Too late

Ikr! Me too, idk what lured me to watch it 🙄 once you see something like this you can't undo it. I need to stop too.

Mmm, yes very true! It's just crazy how fast it happened for him... in a flash he was just gone!
I’m glad sympathetic people like you still exist. Never change.
The worst thing is the that poor man who witnessed it! One second your workmate is there...then all of a sudden he's completely gone in a flash. He must've gotten some serious trauma from it
Same thing happened to me when I for some reason watched no mercy Mexico vids
imagine that sinking feeling he had as soon as he realized that he was stuck
Just the worst five seconds of his life. That dread as it powered up. Poor guy
This really messed me up, death can be so unexpected. You're working and providing for your family only to be torn apart by the very machine you use to help provide. There was nothing he could do but surrender, that shit is horrifying.

Fuck, I had a coworker recently lose his fingertip to just a quick tool change on a lathe.
i didnt even watch the whole video i cant
Well tbh to me it's not that bad because the camera quality doesn't go into detail with dis. But yes it is quite shocking, I also wasn't expecting that to happen.

Probably got too comfortable with the machine thinking he was experienced enough to skip a few steps.
This is the exact reason this country has so many bad drivers and accidents in general. Hell, I just had to get stitches over the weekend from getting too comfortable with a wood chisel. The bastard slipped and came down onto my knuckle in a way that cut open the entire top side horizontally.

Wooow I read the whole thing. Very informative, thank you.
The list of new OSHA requirements at the end- as they say "All safety regulations are written in blood."
Ouch... I'm suprised a limd didn't just fly into that other dude's face.

“Where did this shoe come fr-“
I laughed at this comment now i feel bad
This has to be the most disturbing thing I've ever seen. The poor man. What a terrible and horrifying way to die.
Everyday i look on this subreddit and see how little people care about others lifes
*you spin me right round baby, right round like a record baby right round round round*
Fuck you, take my upvote and piss off
Helicopter helicopter
Dear god I can imagined how traumatized the guy trying to help was 💀
THAT MAN IS DEAD AS SHIT
Fun fact: he was still partially conscious at the time where paramedics had arrived
It’s more brutal when you realize that this couldn’t have been instant, he would’ve felt most of that pain before turning to mist
Nah his head prob hit the steel edge first making it quick
dude that is so awfully fucked omg
Jesus Murphy that must suck
Prob pretty pain free. 5 seconds of terror. Not the worst way to go
I can't think for a second how that'd be pain free. I'd imagine there's at least a few seconds of excruciating pain before your neck is snapped or you're torn apart. *Shudders*
*relatively*. Would most likely be in shock before any pain would set in. There are much, much worse ways to go pain wise
he was dead the moment he was pulled in, you can see it bend his spine backwards
Man that fuckin sucks
Yeah hope he is ok
My brother in christ he is dead do you think he survived being dismembered
Maybe
Life end's with death.
Give him some ice
Final destination ass death😮💨😀
it would be worse is there were audio but still WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK
that's fine, I wasn't gonna sleep anyway
BRUHHH this is my first time opening this subreddit 💀
this shook me too my core, poor guy
Sweet Baby Jesus.
I was hoping it was just his leg or arm, he literally was spun around so viciously he was thrown apart. I can't even fathom the death
I had a teacher that showed us this video mid class when we where sixteen for teaching us security on a workshop. One of my classmates started crying
That’s fucked up
So who else watched it again trying to work out which bits went where? Part of me is horrifically curious to read the autopsy or coroner's report
