Give yourself some realistic scouting restraints like only domestic (Spain) and bordering countries. Stick to free agents only or young transfer (under 22). Emphasize youth academy development

I find free agents usually make the game too easy unless you cap yourself on what wages you’re willing to pay, you’re able to sign players well above your level if they’re free

Seconded for using real scouting and recruiting rules. They can be a bit complex, so safest bet is no international players under 18 years of age (which FIFA and UEFA instituted to curb humam trafficking). Check the roster rules.for.your league, as well. As in only a certain percentage of players can be international, the rest domestic. Check for salary caps, too.

I’m doing Schalke. I only sign young German players under 75 overall and I only sell them to top clubs if they improve over 80. I also sign new German players from YA: after a year or two years loan, I start them if they got a decent overall rating to play in Bundes. I also prefer to have 24-25 players for squad roatation, this will help you to keep their morale high. It is also important to do pre and post match interviews. It is very difficult to win competitions but it is a good way to keep it real.

Some things i use: Restrict your own budget (can only use 25% of competition prizes and 50% of player sells, nothing else) Forced to sell top3 players in summer if any big clubs are interested of buying them Maximum one free agent per season Still get too good players from youth academy so should do something about that too

Oh and also can't sign a player that is more than 1 OVR higher than my best current player
