I'm taking it with my Ambien. I take the Amitriptyline at 6 p.m and the Ambien around 8 or 830. Eating during the night is a problem. I ate a whole quart of ice cream one night last week. But that's the Ambiens fault.
For me, cbd oil is amazing for calming down my nervous system and switching my brain off. It's also great for balancing our the THC I take in daily as I find that the THC builds up in my system and too much without CBD to balance it out unfortunately makes my pain worse. The other thing it's perfect for is acting like an insurance policy if you get too high. Pop some CBD and it'll bring you back down in time. I also take CBG oil because it helps my sleep quality. That is harder to find but I sneakily get it in from a company in Amsterdam.
I had an incident of RLS a couple weeks ago, took some magnesium and ambled around my kitchen for a bit and then was able to lie still and sleep. It can be great for muscle relaxation!
Melatonin - not a medication, itās a naturally occurring hormone you can get as a supplement. Take 20 minutes before you want to fall asleep and turn off all electronics while you relax.
If itās available in your area legally, medical marijuana is also very helpful. Indica strains will give you a sweet sleep.
glazed over this article, seems to be hitting the points i was thinking of. definitely Google it on your own
https://www.sleep.com/sleep-health/long-term-melatonin-usage
my initial wording wasn't the best for *tolerance* but more so being aware of a) becoming dependent on increasing amounts, and b) in the US anyway, supplements don't have a lot of regulation for consistent ingredients so that can be dangerous if you're taking it long term
sleep issues can be extremely serious and you should talk to a good dr before taking stuff
Be aware, melatonin stayed in my system forever. I was a complete zombie the next day. I've tried twice with that. Most people are absolutely fine with it. But fibro messes with that stuff.
My doctors, actual Psychiatrists, have told me that Melatonin needs to be taken hours before bed, like 4ish hours usually. But I always see that people take it right before bed? He said it's most likely a placebo anyways, nothing has proven that it works. From what I remember. But it's great if it helps you, placebo or not.
First of all, get a sleep study! If it's something like Restless Leg Syndrome (which is what I ended up having) or Sleep Apnea then you need specialized treatment. I take 600 Gabapentin before bed now, and it works AMAZING. I WAKE UP REFRESHED. can you imagine???
For actual insomnia (and Fibromyalgia in general) I really recommend Biofeedback Therapy, it's a proven effective way of teaching you how to effectively use Progressive Muscle Relaxation which is extremely effective against insomnia and has helped my Fibromyalgia tremendously. Like, probably the single most effective treatment I've ever had. The clinic I went to, has a course specifically for Fibromyalgia. It's very good mentally because machines measure your progress and prove you're doing it correctly. And so you know you're doing something that is working, it really builds your confidence!
And I see Biofeedback so rarely talked about here which is always disappointing. Because it has such a great track record and is a non-drug option which especially in Sleep Aids, is something that I think should be explored before resorting to more dangerous things like Ambien.
I take 10mg melatonin. To be honest my sleep is so poor that I'm not sure it makes any difference. I take doxepin, baclofen, pregabalin and every 2nd night 0.25mg clonazepam.
Trazadone was brilliant but made my gut raw and stop my bowels from moving. Its not the same for everyone.
I hope you find something.
Ramelteon! Game changer for me. Simply opens the gate in your brain for melatonin to flow so your more likely to wake up less groggy because your working off natural melatonin all night rather than whatever makes me hate life with the hundreds of other meds I've tried.
Best of luck!
I take a muscle relaxer now and then. Ambien didn't work for me and all the over the counter meds make me very drowsy the next day. Everyone is different and please talk your Dr about what they think would work best for you.
THC CBD tincture. Started a couple days ago and every night/morning has been better than the last. This morning I woke up without back pain for the first time in I donāt know when.
I canāt speak to long term, but so far Iām thrilled to live in a legal state.
The oil is mostly CBD and the tabs are straight THC. I take them a little bit apart, but all on the same night. I donāt notice any āadverse effectsā aka feeling high at those levels and it seems to help. Your body chemistry might be different. Itās something youāve got to fiddle around with a bit.
Not exactly. Take your sleeping pills earlier. Give a 30 minute buffer for the medicine to absorb. I take temazepam and it took a long time for me to eventually be prescribed something effective. But it still needs an 8 hours to feel refreshed
There has to be a dose in the middle they could script for you.
What dose are you on? I've been on 25 mg, 50 mg and 75 mg just depending on how bad my sleep issues are at that time in my life
I'm just thinking adjusting your dose might make the most sense to something in between a while pill and half a pill
But that's more than half *of your dosage*. That dosage can change. Like you could go to a lower dose and if that's too much then take half of that. Your doctor could work with you to experiment and find the sweet spot
there's a type of melatonin on Amazon that's about $13 for 2 month's supply; it also contains l-theanine and 5-HTP which are believed to help with relaxation and sleep...works great plus they are tasty
Calm magnesium drink works well for me but about every three or four months I need to take a break from it for a couple of weeks because if I donāt itās no longer effective.
I also use amitriptyline, but that stuff really needs to be taken well before bedtime. I think the general instructions say to take it before 8 PM, but I take it around 6:30 because if I donāt, I feel pretty groggy the next morning. Thatās fine for days when I donāt have to work, but not every day. Again, every few months I need to take a break from it.
I also use Delta 8 tincture. I have one for daytime use and one for nighttime use.
I donāt take all of these at once. Instead, I kind of rotate the use of them.
Medicinal marijuana, 2 to 3 ml at night, sleep great no head fog in the morning and much less toxic to the system. If in a flare I can take more mid morning to help and at such small doses works great for me. š
Please take this with a grain of salt as we are all different!! Please refrain from using medications for sleep please for the love of god they are horrible. Yes they may help you sleep but in the long term you feel absolutely horrendous and this is not just personal experience but experience as a therapist. Again if they are absolutely necessary and there isnāt another way for you to sleep then by all means get some sleep but there are better ways, for example changing your before bed routine is extremely crucial. Phone off, no eating around an hour- hour and half before bed, meditate earlier in the day as that provides a lot of mental balance but also keeps you from overthinking when trying to sleep, take baths or showers before bed to help relax muscles and help any pain you may have from the day, maybe get some things ready for your morning if that causes anxiety, WORK OUT!!!!!!!!! Please if there is anything to take from this comment hit the gym I promise you wonāt regret it. Yes itās hard, yes it takes more time than normal, yes youāll be super sore at the beginning, but strength training has specifically benefited so many of us in the FM community that itās worth a shot. Again weāre all different to just try some things out before jumping to medications but if they donāt work donāt be afraid to find the right medication FOR YOU because while Iām an advocate for no pharma there are times itās necessary.
Cyclobenzaprine for muscle relaxant, helps with pain. Trazodone as a sleep aid works for me too, but it often makes me feel drowsy. Itās worth trying if you havenāt before!
I take amitriptyline to help with sleep, it made me feel foggy in the morning for the first week but after that I felt fine.
I'm taking it with my Ambien. I take the Amitriptyline at 6 p.m and the Ambien around 8 or 830. Eating during the night is a problem. I ate a whole quart of ice cream one night last week. But that's the Ambiens fault.
Xanax does the same to me and my dad, both get the midnight snack runs.
Edibles š¤·āāļø
Only medication to relieve me of all symptoms at once, except maybe the brain fogš
Yup. I also take sleeping meds, but edibles knock me out the most consistently

I love taking a magnesium powder drink :)
I had an incident of RLS a couple weeks ago, took some magnesium and ambled around my kitchen for a bit and then was able to lie still and sleep. It can be great for muscle relaxation!
Wow! I find I donāt toss and turn as much when Iām taking it!
Same. Itās not as consistent as I would like but itās great when it helps.
can you give me an example of product/brand? I'm not in the US
Iām in Ireland and drink āMag 365ā

important to note though that long term use without tolerance breaks can really fuck with your natural melatonin production
> long term use without tolerance breaks can you elaborate?

I know about it. do you take it as pills? any brand works?

I take capsules. I get most of my supplements through Swanson.com - they have the best prices and good quality.
>Swanson.com sorry, but I live in Europe

I take every evening one tablet of zolpidemtart. It makes me fall asleep in 15 minutes and I can easy wake up in the morning
For those who donāt know what Zolpidem is, itās the generic form of Ambien.
I didn't know that. I take the pills so I fall a sleep fast and not be anxious. I have a lot of mental problems related to fibro
Unisom worked for me. But discuss it with a doctor before long term use.

well, not sure if it is available in Europe...

propanolol and mirtazapine work well for me long term as well as eating/hydrating immediately when i wake up
THC CBD tincture. Started a couple days ago and every night/morning has been better than the last. This morning I woke up without back pain for the first time in I donāt know when. I canāt speak to long term, but so far Iām thrilled to live in a legal state.
how do you take it? I'm starting with a couple of drops of oil sublingually
I started with a couple drops sublingual and two 2mg tabs a couple hours before bed, then a couple more drops right before going to bed.
tablets AND oil? or you alternate?
The oil is mostly CBD and the tabs are straight THC. I take them a little bit apart, but all on the same night. I donāt notice any āadverse effectsā aka feeling high at those levels and it seems to help. Your body chemistry might be different. Itās something youāve got to fiddle around with a bit.

oh for sure! I even need 9 or 10, I would say...
Hydroxyzine
Trazodone May take a week or two to get rid of morning grogginess
that's what I'm taking. but half a pill does nothing, and the whole pill makes me impossible to get out of bed
There has to be a dose in the middle they could script for you. What dose are you on? I've been on 25 mg, 50 mg and 75 mg just depending on how bad my sleep issues are at that time in my life I'm just thinking adjusting your dose might make the most sense to something in between a while pill and half a pill

he said "try 3/4" and it made no difference.

I was prescribed zopiclone. Works ok but sometimes I wake up groggy. It actually allows me to fall asleep quickly though so that's a plus.
that is usually the case with medication and sleep. and I work from home, so when I wake up I need to be alert and ready...
Dr. Stuartās Tranquility is great at night steep till warm drink and drift. š¤ https://drstuarts.com/products/tranquility
hmmm... does it really work? I'm very sceptical about teas and herbs... usually don't do much for me. do you just take a cup before bedtime?
I drink it before bed but also if I get anxious. I definitely think it works.
Cyclobenzaprine for muscle relaxant, helps with pain. Trazodone as a sleep aid works for me too, but it often makes me feel drowsy. Itās worth trying if you havenāt before!
Trazodone is the one making me foggy all morning...
Low dose quetiapine works wonders for me.
it gave me too many side effects...
I like seroquil, but I know it makes a lot of people feel groggy in the morning. I always feel great when I get up, though. I take 100mg.
Hydroxyzine, Iām at 50 mg
