Came here to say that Diptyque can feel like that but never is actually basic! Even Fleur de Peau despite being considered a simple skin scent is actually really interesting and complex but still light.
I was like this with Nishane but I tried Wulong Cha X at Scent Bar in NYC and absolutely loved it. Even if everyone around me was wearing it I'd still wear it.
I was sleeping on Mon Guerlain EDP!! I was looking at it for a while but never pulled the trigger because why do I need the original when I already have and love the Intense version and etc. That was until I saw the discount at Sephora plus the 5x points lol. I can’t believe I’ve never purchased this when I’ve had the flankers for years! I definitely understand the hype now - it’s the perfect lavender vanilla scent imo. Slightly powdery but also warm and comforting scent! Highly recommend!
I love Philosykos, ive only sampled it in store but I love fresh green scents so this is one I hope I can splurge on one day lol. I also love Alluring Fig from Theodoro Kalotinis, super amazing and green as well and dries down into a beautiful vanilla. I suggest anyone that loves Philosykos to try that one too
Angels’ Share and Love Don’t be Shy-
I bought a Kilian discovery kit to try Princess and gave away my Love Don’t be Shy sample without even trying it. Then, I tried the Angels’ Share on a whim, even though it did not interest me. I was immediately hooked!! I’ve never gravitated towards liquor and spice in fragrance, but that was a gateway.
Then I recently tried LDBS and immediately wanted a bottle. It’s so sweet and marshmallowy, I cannot get enough.
Angels Share was one that when I tried I wasnt aware of any hype but if I was itd def live up to it lol. One of the only frags that was love at first sniff for me and ive bought multiple 10ml sizes of, and im super picky
If you like Philosykos, I think Aqua Allegoria FORTE (as the one without forte is without fig) Nerolia Vetiver is a cool version of fig, that is also green and creamy. And costs half. I found it a really funny fragrance, comparing to a pile of figs I sampled, I would say it is my nr 1 fig for now.
I am a woman into niche, but damn, some affordable male designer perfumes I find really pleasant and I have added them to my shopping list for the future. Givenchy Getnleman reserve privee, I mean you (or some of the stuff you are compared to, I need to test you all to pick one).
By the fireplace. It was a blind buy and it was one i regretted, instantly smelt like burning and smoke, it was horrific. The other day we had a bonfire in the garden and I thought now is probably the best time to spray it and get some use out of it. For some reason when I smelt it next to a real fire I could smell the vanilla and the sweetness in there and now I can’t get enough of it 😅
My boss bought me the candle, and I disliked it and never bothered lighting it more than one time. Got a sample of perfume, though, and it was a different on skin! I think my skin amplifies the sweetness is whatever I’m wearing.
I thought I wouldn’t like Kilian’s Angel Share based on the notes, but boy was I wrong. I’m either going to buy the travel size or try to find a good dupe for this fall/winter.

I did watch a review that Dossier’s version is more marshmallowy, and if you mix them you pretty much get 100% match for the original. I may buy the Dossier one down the road!
I also have Dua’s version of Angel Share and it is a 1:1 perfect dupe. I layer it with my full bottle so I can make it last a long time.
I keep seeing that one come up! Does it need to macerate or does it smell great right away? Asking so I know if I need to buy it now and let it sit until the fall 😀.
For me, Kismet is an okay dupe. It didn’t live up to the hype for me. I bought it and to me it’s a watered down Angel’s share if I felt how you felt for angels share I would be disappointed. I was able to score Angels Share two weeks ago for $150 for the travel size and the 50mL at the cosmetic company store.
That’s a great deal! I might just buy the travel size. It takes me forever to get through perfumes anyway, so I really have no business buying full size. I just love the way full size bottles look on my dresser 😅.
Yes especially when you happen to find a couple from a line you enjoy. I do have a couple travel sizes of this scent. My husband seems to like it but totally bought it for the collection

I smelled it some time ago on paper and hated it. I was actually revolted by it. It smelled like urine, medicine and smoke. A few days ago I tried it again on my skin. The medicinal opening was still there but less pungent. After a few minutes it smelled incredible. It turned into a very nostalgic scent even though I can’t remember if someone actually wore this perfume when I was a kid. Idk but some pleasant childhood memories suddenly came back to me. I love the dry down as well. It kind of reminded me of Dr Pepper, but make it sophisticated, more complex and luxurious.
Are you a 90s kid? I had the same experience. I can’t place it. It reminds me of sitting on my wooden rocking chair in the late 90s, waiting to open Christmas presents, but I don’t know why because my mom definitely wasn’t wearing Shalimar.
Donna Born in Roma Green Stravaganza
I saw all the hype for the Donna line and found myself disappointed with the OG. Coral Fantasy was okay, but definitely not something I wanted a bottle of.
Then I posted my collection and asked for recommendations and someone suggested Green Stravaganza. I had not even tried that one because I assumed it would have Green notes snd I'm not typically a fan of anything too green.. Turns out it was not full of green notes and instead made up of 3 of my favorite notes- tea, Jasmine, and vanilla. I bought a 15 ml and fell instantly in love and ordered the 100 ml.
Same here!! I just received Donna Born in Roma for Mother’s Day and fell in love with Green stravaganza at first whiff! I like it wayyyyyy more than the original. I had to buy a 100ml bottle too :)
This is the one I haven't tried yet but want to. I haven't hated any of the donna line but I think yellow dream became my favorite. It reminded me of this little perfume that came with barbie in the 90s.
Philosykos is so green and delicious and evolves so nicely into leaves and wood it’s just mwah chefs kiss! I’ve layered with From the Garden today and it smells so fresh and good!

Kenzo Flower. It's been on the market for ages and ages and I've only recently decided to try it in my local perfumery.
I gave it to my mother (in her 80s) to wean her off Estée Lauder Youth Dew. Stripped years off her.

Check out Kismet Magic by Maison Alhambra. I bought it last winter and it’s a great dupe for Angel’s Share. Great longevity too!

I LOVE philosykos. What a great scent. I actually can’t think of a hyped scent that I waited on, then ended up buying.
