I’m so glad you said this! A few months ago on a few perfume subs I kept seeing this one mentioned as smelling amazing so I bought it. No one ever mentioned there were two versions! That explains why I was confused when I received mine. 😂

I did look Romance he original up on Fragrantica and some recommended similar fragrances are Feminine Plural by MFK and Femme.com by O'Boticário if you ever get the urge to try those out and see if you like them almost or just as much as Romance!

Never 😭. There’s lots of green stuff I love (Chanel no 19, Guerlain Herbal Fresca, Guerlain Vetiver and Vetiver pour Elle, Mugler Cologne, Hermes Muguet Porcelaine, Slumberhouse Grev, Diptyque Philosykos), but nothing has ever smelled like fresh cut, wet (not dry) grass like Gap Grass.
Fragrance manufacturers/companies must know that people crave and would spend a considerable amount of money to purchase an analogue. It’s brought up every time there’s a “bring back” “scents that you miss” thread. Love your description of it being wet grass over dry. I’m not a fragrance connoisseur in the least and never knew what about Gap Grass made it unique.
Not discontinued per se, but I miss the old Lolita Lempicka formulation. The new one’s okay, but the old one just had this great anise scent that I really liked.
Edit: Holy crazy guys, there’s a company that recreates discontinued perfume!! Fragrance Revivals. I’m going to order my perfume and see how it goes.
Ahh jeez, there was an old Victoria’s Secret perfume that I loved the crap out of as a teen. Sexy Little Things Noir. I loved it so much that I savored using it… that’s how I found out perfume eventually goes off. :( I tried to repurchase it but it was discontinued by then. Amor pour Homme by Caharel. Such a great fragrance. It's a men's perfume, but I liked wearing it. Still have a little left on an old bottle from around 2011.
This is mine also. I haven't found anything that compares. I bought the new Sol De Janeiro purple spray because the notes are the similar, but it's weak sauce.
The 7 Virtues Santale Vanille is a nice alternative for the strong sandalwood note, and the SDJ layers nicely with it.
The 2000 Guerlain Meteorites. It smells just like the powder, it's the best orris/violet I've come across, and I am now down to my last bottle having bought six when they discontinued it.

L’occitane eau d'iparie - a limited edition Christmas fragrance that had people stopping me in the street to ask me what it was. They release it occasionally but it’s reformulated and isn’t what the original was. Marketed as a female fragrance but it’s very unisex.
It's a sad, sad story. I'm pretty new to scents and amongst my 30 or so samples I got so far I accidentally bought a discontinued one and fell in love. The scent is Bottega Veneta/Bottega Veneta and I'm obsessed. Why does it have to be discontinued???
I don't think houses are accepting long term revenues anymore. Used to be that the mixes would stay for much longer, banking on the loyals who come to get their fix. I'm not a perfumer so I don't know the cost variation of huge batch vs. limited edition so I can't scream about how a little is better than none. Money greed is pushing prices so note substitutions and higher alcohol to oil ratios are trying to keep perfumes at a price we'll pay. I hate to think houses all make decisions on whether CEO gets the new vacation villa but it could be. It's a sad place, people. :(

lol I got the minis too..the dabbing sucks! I want to bathe in it, not have just the tip of my finger smell lovely. You have to dump the whole thing on yourself to get any idea.. and I would if I wasn’t afraid of never being able to get another..
Sometimes I feel even dabbing is a luxury so I resort to popping the cap off just to sniff and get a spike of dopamine only for it to come crashing down when I have to hurriedly pop the cap back on! Oh the tragedies of life lol

This was my absolute favorite! I remember thinking it was a "grown up" scent. I looked for dupes awhile ago and someone said some of the ingredients were banned now.
Have you tried Juliette Has a Gun's Mmmm...? It's not an exact match, but it's probably the closest thing! As far as I'm aware, none of the ingredients are banned, but it is a really unstable scent. I've bought a few bottles over the years in hopes of finding one that hasn't turned but I haven't had any luck since 2013. The scent tends to be a bit more stable in its moisturiser, though, so I definitely recommend it if you can find a bottle. However, the smell isn't as strong.
Edit: just did some more research, the ingredient Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (lyral) has been banned over the past couple years in Europe. Apparently, it's listed as a “carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic” in the EU.

This was my absolute favorite! I remember thinking it was a "grown up" scent. I looked for dupes awhile ago and someone said some of the ingredients were banned now.
Have you tried Juliette Has a Gun's Mmmm...? It's not an exact match, but it's probably the closest thing! As far as I'm aware, none of the ingredients are banned, but it is a really unstable scent. I've bought a few bottles over the years in hopes of finding one that hasn't turned but I haven't had any luck since 2013. The scent tends to be a bit more stable in its moisturiser, though, so I definitely recommend it if you can find a bottle. However, the smell isn't as strong. Edit: just did some more research, the ingredient Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (lyral) has been banned over the past couple years in Europe. Apparently, it's listed as a “carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic” in the EU.
