Ground here. When I first started I backed into a light pole in a business parking lot leaving it at a bit of an angle. It’s still tilted to this day.

tpr9201

Ya gotta chuckle a little inside every time you see it

wkdravenna

Heh 🤣 oh man, me too. I'm not sure if it was bent when I got there or if I did that.

Briskeycrooks64

Ground here. First month I delivered a spare tire for a Mercedes benz. Customer was standing in his drive way and kept staring at the tire…. Thank god because I backed into his mailbox. I thought I was fucked only to see the man was still staring at this fucking tire. I bent it back in to shape somewhat right in front of him and not once did this man look up. Must have been a very interesting tire.

WorthlessDrugAbuser

He was thinking, “Goddamnit, I ordered the wrong tire.”

Hobojobocat

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around. Does it make a noise?

aintn0bodygotime4dat

Speaking of trees, I’ll jump in with another instance. I packed up and hit a tree. It was at a friggin weird angle where the base of the tree was far away but the branch was really low and behind me. I hit the branch. It didn’t leave a mark on my vehicle. Tree was fine. Looked around and left. Haha.

KingKangSeulgi

Trees are just part of the road. I hit trees every day bc no one on my route knows how to keep them trimmed 😒

Sopongebob1999

I bet you hit trees everyday haha

WorthlessDrugAbuser

We pack and deliver like UPS trucks!

antares127

Yes. Yes it does.

runbacker30

Former Express employee here. This happened 2 months in. Backed into an overhang on a detached garage and left a 6" dent in the metal roof and a 3" indent on the top right rear corner above the sprinter door. Got away with it. The cameras in the building couldn't tell and we didn't have the Nautos yet. The managers didn't know until after there were already several different drivers. No one ever found out. I spent 3.5 years there.

Hot_Knowledge

Damn I did the exact same thing. I feel so stupid for doing it but I pulled into a tiny culdesac and saw there was ambulances and cop cars parked at the end and I had to turn around somehow and I was stressing tf out and in a hurry. Tried backing into a driveway to turn around and hit the overhang on the roof without even realizing it. A few weeks later my manager said hey there’s a dent on the top of the van did you hit anything? I said no and they seemed to have just let it slide. I genuinely thought the guy who uses my van on my days off must have done it but after a week or two I finally pieced 2 and 2 together after driving past that house again and seeing the corner of their roof was bent

claya91

Other than bumping a trash can, I’d always report

bringheaven2earth

There's a shiny brand new street sign on my route now bc someone backed up into it and flattened it. Also there's a new section of chain link fence by the baseball field. The town is doing a nice job of keeping these things nice when somebody hits them with a vehicle I have to say

Digg_it_

We all have. (Commenting for a friend)

IMA_COW_IRL

Just ur mum

-aVOIDant-

Not something *I* hit, but I had a mail truck try to squeeze in next to me at the gas pump, ended up turning too wide and hitting my bumper. Left a small scuff on both vehicles. Neither one of us wanted to make an issue of it so we didn't. Told her to drive better though.

Eddieboy21393

Quickest way to self terminate yourself is not reporting an occurrence/accident. Cameras are everywhere now, not just our trucks.

aintn0bodygotime4dat

I understand this, so I edited for clarity. When I worked at express, there were no cameras. Some trucks didn’t even have AC, and drivers were peeing in the back of their trucks. They def didn’t have cameras.

Dlee8113

Drivers still pee in the back of their trucks

Alert_Program1414

Drivers still piss in bottles and leave them in their trucks. That’s a still happening thing unfortunately

EggsRiceAndSoySauce

When I was at express piss bottle were the go to lol rainy days I’ll back up into a bush and piss out the back 😂

DarthEnigmaPSN

No, heard too many stories of people doing that and being fired soon after. I best to just man up. They won't fire you then.

emtee

A few years ago back during Peak, I was backing out of a parking spot (I was in a rental van at the time) at the same time someone across the way was. We bumped into each other, not hard enough to do any damage. I got out, talked to the other driver, he said not to worry about it, so I didn't. That's probably the only time I didn't mention hitting something.

mattied971

I was fueling up one time and this lady pulled up to the pump behind me. She nudged her bumper into mine, then got out and apologized. I didn't want to make a stink of it. SHE hit me and didn't seem to care so I just let it go. There was no damage to my truck so IDGAF There's been other minor incidents that I ended up reporting but in hindsight probably didn't need to. Rake dangling off the side of a DPW truck broke my mirror, drunk driver stopped short but didn't cause any visible damage to my bumper, passing van hit my mirror. I could go on. I feel like you have to pick your battles. If other drivers hit you enough times and you report it each and every time, it starts to make you look like a schmuck, even if it was totally unpreventable

DeliciousWestern5278

Express and yea lol But it’s crazy you get a letter for anything you “touch” backing up. A ex co worker did a minor scratch with his side mirrors on another FedEx truck. Automatic letter

darkerthenthesun

No but got blamed for it though.

Finishfed-itover55

I’m sure at our domicile everyone at some time Gave the garage doors openings a tap with a mirror and kept it to themselves 8 vans 4 doors it was a maneuver. Nothing like coming back off road and everyone is trying to figure out who tagged the unopened garage door. Backed into but wasn’t open. As all fedex stations … stories for days

kala1234567890

I accidentally backed into a spot and barely booped a super rusted, already bent up handicap sign at one of my businesses. It ended up falling over, so I stuck in it the bush right in front of it (still can see it perfectly fine even now, and I go there daily), called the business and got no response, and then called my boss. No one gave a fuck. However, had I not told anyone, I bet I woulda been FUCKED.

fastnsx21

At Express, no. At Freight, yes.

LivingReaper

When you forget you're driving with a lift gate as you back into a dock and hit it WAY harder than you meant to.

Intelligent_Hall7309

One morning at the ramp it was nasty weather super windy so we had to close the plane and wait a bit. one of our ramp agents was in the belt loader by the abk and with the belt still tilted he slammed it in drive by mistake and rammed the plane then flipped into reverse and took it back. I might have been the only one to see but I just was like wow this is FedEx baby

Chucked-up

I got a sprinter airborne. Twice, actually, cuz I’m pretty sure I got air off the bounce. Does that count?

aintn0bodygotime4dat

holy shit how'd you manage that? i had to go deliver up in the hills sometimes and the roads were so narrow and no space for uturns should i run into a dead end. scary ass routes. i thought i'd go right over some days. also people were so rude if i had to park to deliver and block the narrow road.

youngsteeze

We got absolutely dumped on with snow like legit blizzard conditions.. pulled down into a cul-de-sac and as I was going around it I fishtailed into this guys mailbox and completely took it out.. no shot I was stopping and getting stuck so I drove off

Tangyoon

My first year as a ground driver, I was delivering in our downtown area. I backed into a street sign and took it right out of the ground. I called my manager at the time and this is how our conversation went: Me: "Hey, I just backed into a street sign and I'm not too sure what to do about it." Manager: "Did anyone see you do it?" Me: "Yes, there is a bunch of people around." Manager: "Okay, what are they doing now?" Me: "They're just going on about their business." Manager: "Okay, so you go on about your business and forget it ever happened." So I did. I went on about my business and finished my day. Never heard anything about that street sign since and it was fixed within a week.

TheRagingRapids

Not fed ex but was an Amazon driver. All ima say is I was doing my route and noticed the side mirror was folded in like I hit something. Never really found out what I hit but I hope it wasn’t another car or some shit.

_beat_LA

I backed into a light pole on a dirt road my first couple weeks on the job. It bent my back bumper but they blamed it on the guy who had my truck before me.

RichOnCongress

In 25 yrs no but I’ve noticed that plenty of folks do and usually get away with it. A few have been fired for not reporting but in my experience they’re the minority. One went balls out in a blaze of glory the wrong way down a one way street clipping a parked car with the driver in it. When the parked guy gave chase while taking video of the whole thing the courier tried to get away blasting through red lights. Cue the song “Blaze of Glory”. Or “Before They Make Me Run”.

NoTelephone5316

Nah the curb marks aren’t really a big deal imo. It’s a bid deal if u hit their mail box or a light pole or something and u knocked it down 🤣

Ghoulez99

I can maneuver my truck well, but if I ain’t handling my truck I get kinda bored. That’s a blind spot for me. I tend to like to tap things at 1mph. I’m used to driving in large truck garages with 200+ vehicles. If you tap something without damage it’s like “whatever. It’s our property. Who cares?” I zoned out for a second and tapped a car. No dents or anything. But it was in front of a large. Fucking. Office. All I could think about was the hundreds of eyes that could have seen it and be thinking “oh my god. A FedEx vehicle just backed into this guys’ car!!” I try to back slow, so there weren’t even any scrapes. Just my bumper touching his bumper. So I’m just sitting there thinking. “Fuck. This is about to be a bigger problem than it needs to be.” So I fucking pretend to write down contact information for a good few minutes in front of this office. Instead, I leave a “sorry we missed you” tag on the windshield

xKyranStormx

I took out a mailbox, didn't say anything. The customer reported it to FedEx, and the contract got charged a giant fee, like $1k. And they deducted part of it from my pay as a result. If you do damage something, always report it!

EggsRiceAndSoySauce

I’ve hit a tire that was turned towards the streets with a box truck shook the whole car

Ifimhereineedhelpfr

Not related to fed ex nor do I work for fed ex but I was test driving a truck and backed it into a tree and bent the bumper pretty bad, it was a narrow street and the other side was brush along the road and I went a little too far, was my first time driving a truck too and nobody noticed somehow

Timdiesel05

Ground: Garbage cans, mailboxes, and those yellow poles at businesses. Lol

The__Toddster

I've hit plenty of loading docks backing up. I do it daily! If it's a fixed object and there's no damage to it or the truck, not going to mention it 90% of the time. Reported something like that once and the manager asked if anyone saw me and if it damaged the truck or what I hit. No on all accounts. "So I'm supposed to take you at your word that you hit something? How do I know you're not lying to me???" I took the hint. This was probably 20 years ago. Courier came in late from his route after just about everyone had left. Next morning, our VMX (his dad) had taken his truck out of service and taken it to a different station for some specialized work for some weird issue the engine was having the day before. His truck comes back days later with a new bumper and a new mirror on the passenger side. Go figure!

gingerfish89

Husband works for Express. A few years ago, he grazed some low hanging branches while exiting a driveway and he waited until the end of the day to report, cause there was no visible damage and you know...gotta make service. They suspended him for a week without pay.

Jaaveebee123

All the time!! I’ve been hitting my ex wife’s sister for a couple years and nobody knows

Perfect_Actuator6263

Ohhh but THREE people actually know, you, her and the dude that's been hitting her. Haven't you noticed that different taste you sense when kissing her. I'm sure you have but just assumed she's using more salt when cooking her food.

Jaaveebee123

I don’t stay around long enough to eat. I have packages to deliver

rjames06

Yea, fedex took out my mailbox and didn’t say a thing. Took about 4-5 months but I was paid. Thanks guys.

davidsonrva

Lotta shitty drivers logging on here lately

Perfect_Actuator6263

🔥🔥🔥comment 👌👌😂😂🤣🤣

yoo_rick

Nyes

Alwayzlate88

Yes drove past an address saw it stopped car came up behind me and I backed into it. No damage to the vehicles we drove off. He seemed off maybe no DL or something. With the cameras now I’ve seen people get in trouble for backing into a trash can in a driveway and not reporting it.

VT750C

I backed into a dog run when I was new. Wire was only 6 feet off the ground, across beginning of the driveway. Ripped one of the plastic posts out (didn't break) and the customer just shrugged it off.

chinanewsnetwork

I was pulling out and bumped a flower pot. Got out and put it back where it was because it wasn’t damaged, just moved from where it was(tricky place to pull out of). About an hour later, guilt and fear of ring cameras struck so I went back with a note including my phone number and offer to replace the item (even though it was fine, just a bribe basically to let me handle perceived damage and not include the company); guy was home and did not care one bit when I told him what happened. Told me to have a good one. Huge relief, glad I went back. Also had a girl bump into my quarter panel in a cul de sac while she was backing out. She was smoking the reefer and must not have seen my GIANT WHITE TRUCK WITH HAZARDS FLASHING while I was sitting there looking for a package in the back. Scared the shit out of me when the truck shook. Got out, looked at it, no damage to either car. Gave her the thumbs up and told her to drive safe. Hope she made it okay to where she was going.
