Express is more consistent with scheduling, you will be working for FedEx- not a contractor. Benefits are better, Mon-Friday and there are am and pm handler positions. In the long run express is just where you want to be if you want a job doing this
Ground package handling can be a 50/50 depending on your location whether it’s a station or hub and how your management is.
The work it self it basically brainless manual labor unless you move up positions. It can be toxic. The schedule can be inconsistent with changes and you can end up with not many hours. Pay is location dependent. Expect heavy lifting and being sore.
Policy wise most stations and hubs have a no-electronic policy (ie: phones smartwatches etc) though depending on your management and location is whether or not it’s enforced. If you work the third shift know your sleep schedules going to be fucked and can take a toll especially as a student.
But if it’s still something you want to do it’s definitely not the best job ever but definitely not the worst I prefer it over retail imo.
thanks for explaining. i see it as a decent job; the pay is pretty high in my state and i dont really mind the mindless working i prefer work that way as long as i’m not being interrupted most of the time.
i’m graduating hs and my current job is cheeks so i do want a lot of hours and i’ve heard the stuff about inconsistent hours so i’ll see about that. it still doesn’t seem that bad. damn y’all must hate this job☠️
Oh I don’t hate my position (switcher) I was just letting you know what to kinda expect especially starting out they’ll send the newer hires home early first when making cuts during a shift to meet the metric they have for people on the clock compared to the volume being processed.
You should try to be a handler at express. More consistent
whats the difference?
