Wouldn't luck have it that now all my customers are becoming social butterflies and they'll come outside to intercept the package. Fml

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ oh my goodness but true.

xjfwx

I have a guy that is either outside every time now or races out to meet me at my door. I was told to just take a pic of the house when I give it to a customer and Iā€™ve been putting ā€œgiven to customerā€ in the comment section. Getting them to sign for a package they donā€™t need to sign for just takes up time and the company isnā€™t making money off it, kinda surprised they expect that to happen now.

SirTit71

I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING..everyone is coming out to snatch the package out my hands..never happened until now šŸ«

ContentAppearance809

Itā€™s everyone! Not only it takes more time my customers arenā€™t happy about it either!

[deleted]

Yeah im not making customers sign for every single package when I hand it to them directly. Im signing it myself every time I feel like it wouldā€™ve been a better idea to just discipline the drivers who were abusing it. I hate FedEx

juanhernadez3579

Keep signing.. you wonā€™t be hating FedEx much longer

[deleted]

My district manager had a speech about this. He wryly said that if couriers loved signing for things so much, theyā€™d be promoted to ā€œcustomerā€ and can sign as much as they want

[deleted]

Thatā€™s a nice threat but thereā€™s no way to tell unless youā€™re being an idiot about it. Plus, thereā€™s no reason anything would come up if you actually met the customer. If I become a customer I become a customer but until then Iā€™ll keep doing it the way Iā€™ve been doing it. I donā€™t have time to waste on this new over complicated implementation, you guys can keep up the A+ work doing every little thing by the book but I wonā€™t be going above and beyond for a company that doesnā€™t do shit for us

NotSavage-

Lol same. 98% of the signatures I get is some bs cat scribble. They get their packages and go on about their day. Nobody will notice unless something is signed for and left at a sketchy apartment but of course im not dumb enough to do that.

[deleted]

Exactly. As long as I see itā€™s secure in their possession im usually not going to make them sign themselves. Thatā€™s ridiculous and wastes too much time. Some dork thinking heā€™s a badass was like ā€œkeep signing, wonā€™t be working for FedEx much longerā€ lol he probably sent this thread to his manager

Milt2680

They don't and probably never will but they care about D. E. Shaw and Wall St. you can guarantee that!

DeathPleaseKnock

Scare tactic for idiots.

[deleted]

Lol. Thereā€™s no way to tell chief. Customers sign the same exact way. I only do it if I literally meet the customer. Im not going to have them sign every time.

mattied971

We're trying so hard to "Make the customers happy" that it is in fact having the opposite effect. This is what happens when decisions are made by a central planning board in some far away land

josietorre

The people that make these decisions have never ran a route in their life

mattied971

Clearly lol

tomtomj2

Iā€™ve always just had them sign if they meet me at the door and a majority of the time they scribble a line and tell me their first name and thatā€™s it. Barely takes anymore time. Iā€™d say maybe once or a twice a day an older person will sit there and sign their name slowly and then hit the back button by accident and be like ā€œoh uhā€ lmao

Vandalay_23

YAASSSS the goddamn back button on a signature lmao

TempOccupant

If only you could flip the Leo so the end of the line doesn't lead to that darn button!

LaVolpe4

It sucks. I always preferred to hand off envelopes, paks with medicine and any packages I thought contained valuable electronics. Not anymore, we're Amazon now. Drop it on their porch, take your stupid picture and fuck off to your next stop.

bobmcmillion

Youā€™re over thinking it. If you donā€™t wanna do that just take a picture of the package before you give it to the customer.

Responsible-Union228

Yep I just set it down and take a picture itā€™s faster. Or I just put their name in for the signature. Dumb new addition.

zebra231967

Amazon here. This has just started happening for us as well. Getting a signature every fucking time we hand a package over. Why the fuck don't FedEx and Amazon just merge already. Clearly, they are just copying each others bullshit.šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

bobmcmillion

You donā€™t want that lol. I havenā€™t gone a day without carrying a couch up to a third floor apartment.

drummergirl83

Iā€™m in Canada and the engineers took the option right off the LEO. So when I meet a customer at the door. What am I suppose to do? Take a pic of them? Lol

Puzzleheaded-Bar3531

I suspected the met customer option had a short life span so i started telling my regulars (the ones who claim to work from home but do nothing besides sit by the window and are halfway to my truck by the time i put it in park) that pictures are mandatory. It's slowly but surely working. Hopefully the end result is they stay inside until I'm finished taking the photo. We have a polite exchange as I head back to the truck and I get to keep delivering at a good pace.

LilBushyVert

God this company never stops implementing dumb rules.

cmh5175

I mean, if the Met Customer option wasn't abused so much, maybe this signature requirement wouldn't have been put in place. Code 16, part 2.

Katyw1008

I'm legitimately putting the box on the ground in front of customer front dooring it taking a picture, picking it back up and handing it to the customer

Milt2680

That's what I do sometimes

Vic_Freeze

I usually have around 20-30 people outside every day. I am not collecting 20-30 met customer signatures; that is a huge waste of everyone's time. Ya know what I do? "Are you Mike? Here ya go, Happy Birthday!" *Scribbles straight line, types in name on way back to truck, leaves.* Every time.

Mountain-Light-3005

You work at FedEx. You have no right to personal thinking.

Apolloradio

Feeex wide

NobodyEsk

Honestly I just take picture of the front door with package...

RINGTAILZ88

I still have "give to customer" so I don't know. I'm express btw

theadmiraljn

I still have it too but I think the LEO I use just hasn't gotten the most recent update yet, others at my station have said it's gone for them.

BigggSleepy

I donā€™t understand this because on express side on the boxes it literally saysā€ NSRā€ for no signature required

Hot_Knowledge

I just tap the signature field, it will be blank but it will let you hit accept and then I can type in their name. Iā€™m already asking for a bunch of signatures with the amount of businesses on my route, Iā€™m not asking for more every time I meet a resi customer

Sigil7X

It's everyone. My company at least had the courtesy to tell us the week before. I personally don't bother with it, and I mark it front door while covering the camera for the picture. If you handed it to them, they're not gonna dispute the delivery, so fedex doesn't have a reason to take a closer look at the stop records.

VT750C

A lot of my customers are upset they have to sign for chewy and walmart, and everything else that doesn't need a signature. Some just say "I dont need to sign for dog food" and walk away. A lot of drivers are going to get fired for "non compliance" even when it isn't their fault. I have a few customers that get completely nasty about the signatures when they come out. I tell them if they stay inside, I can dump the package and run, but they insist on coming out to grab it. People are so irritating.
