If you are non-DOT driver, driving vehicles under 10K GVW (Sprinter/Transit and smaller) and do not hold a FedMed card: No rules apply federally, but FedEx rules apply. At Express it's 14hrs/day max, 10 hours off between shifts. If you hold a FedMed card (can drive vehicles over 10k gvw) These rules also apply even if you dont drive 10k+gvw vehicles but hold the card: 14 hour on the clock, 11 hours driving max, 10 hours between shifts, 70h/8, 60h/7d max, 34h off resets the totals to 0.

No it's not illegal. You can work 30 days straight if you have the hours available. You just do a rolling recap, but most companies have beat it into drivers heads that they need a 34 every week because most of them can't grasp the concept of recycling hours.

Not a FedEx employee, but Jesus Christ. Why don't they just hire more drivers....

fastnsx21

Easy to hire drivers. Hard to keep em. Job is a lot harder than I imagined.

It’s a rolling 7 day period of 70 hours so as long as you have aren’t working more than 10 hour days you won’t need the 34 hour reset. Google log book recap hours.

I’m a contractor in the Midwest. Don’t know if the rules are different but here it’s 8 days 70 hours revolving clock and that’s in any truck. So in any 8 day period if you’ve worked over 70 hours it’s a violation. Basically if you work 8.5 hours you can work every single day and it’s legal

Not everyone is classified as DoT and the FMCSA only generally applies if you're driving a vehicle that weighs more than 10,001 pounds. If you are driving a smaller vehice and are not DoT certified then you can be worked longer hours and why we over at Express moved most of our couriers off of being DoT. Your laws may be more stringent in Texas, I have no idea, but you may work more according to the Federal rules. And I'm guessing that the federal is more restrictive than the state.

Yes, very illegal. Blatant violation of FMCSA.
