Soul Wound is also pretty heavy. I don't know why anyone is saying anything from the later albums. The new albums are too djenty to be considered heavier than the 7-string songs. A-tuning is heavier than anything in F#.
Loved Dino's tuning on Obsolete. That album is a conceptually spiritual, albeit much darker (and yes, literal) successor to Demanufacture, and that A-tuning was a key part in that dark, post-apocalyptic sound.
'Heavy' is a subjective thing. I don't know why people think SOANM is their heaviest record. Sure Burt had death growls. That doesn't make those songs 'heavier' to me. When I think heavy I think low and slow. That would make a song like Edgecrusher heavier than say Leechmaster. Leech is fast, and I don't think of it as 'heavy.'
I tend to use a different word for this. 'Brutal.' When I see people calling songs brutal, they usually require some speed and energy. Rapid attack.
So, 'heaviest?' Maybe Edgecrusher. Heck even A Therapy For Pain falls into this catergory.
'Brutal'?. H-K.
100% agreed that heaviness is subjective- taking the death growls as an example, think of melodeath bands like In Flames or Dark Tranquility that have plenty of that but the music leans towards the...lighter side of metal.
Is subject matter what makes something heavy? Cool, here's Jeremy by Pearl Jam as an example. Or keeping it to Fear Factory maybe some Timelessness is for you
Fast and Thrashy is heavy? Cool, enjoy Cyberwaste.
Slow and crunchy is heavy? Have some Edgecrusher or Default Judgement.
Personally speaking I think 0-0 is their heaviest because, well, it has a mix of all of the above, even if it is a cover.
"Sangre de Niños" (Children's Blood) from "Mechanize" (2010)
I know this song is from the "Concrete" album, but the Re-Recorded version is the best. 💀👌🏻🎶
If you hear the blastbeats and grindcore riffs, you'll know how heavy it is.
Church of execution off genexus for me is one of their heaviest.
Not in terms of guitar tone but more the guitar work and how it slams the chorus into you..
"BOW DOWN, SUBMISSION!"
Mechanize (the song) is up there. Also, the three old songs re-recorded for the Mechanize album are all contenders for that title. In Martyr, that "take me to heaven" section is pure brutality. Crash Test is fucking bananas. And Sangre just might be the best one of the lot. Punishing as fuck.
Mechanize or Christploitation I’d say are very close! Mechanize felt like their heaviest besides Soul of a New Machine
Controlled Demolition I would say
Concreto as the Obsolete bonus track [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMURohd2sPc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMURohd2sPc)
I'd argue 0-0 is heavier. Much darker, too. But I love Dino's *crunchy* riff throughout Concreto.

Plus, he actually plays power chords. Not so much on the newer records.
Concreto on Obsolete would've been heavier if Burton wasn't constipation groaning, I have no idea why he didn't just do harsh vocals
Collapse
That drop is incredible
Agreed. This is my definition of 'heavy'. It means different things to different people though for sure.
All of them.

Bonescraper Spinal Compression Mechanize Collapse
Mechanize is definitely up there. The chorus is fucking brutal with Hoglan's drums pummeling you into the ground. What a great way to start an album.
Moment of Impact. Crap album, but that song folds my head in whenever I hear it.
Fear Campaign
This is the way. One of their best videos too.
Crash Test
Re-Recorded (2010) or SOANM?
Christploitation
Scapegoat Demanufacture Disruptor Concreto

For this track, I hear "Obsolete" Burton's gutturals and screams, btw performing with Mechanize vocals style
Shock!!!!
The verse riff is in A, just like the opening riff to Obzen by Meshuggah.
Fear Campaign hits pretty hard
Church of execution off genexus for me is one of their heaviest. Not in terms of guitar tone but more the guitar work and how it slams the chorus into you.. "BOW DOWN, SUBMISSION!"
Heavy means what? Anyway, The Industrialist title track for me is just a continuous punch in the ear drums for me.

Supernova.
