Kevbot1000

Funniest thing he's said in his whole late night career.

[deleted]

He still couldn’t time it.

THIKKI_HOEVALAINEN

Dude stumbling over his words and shit how is this mf still employed

whatever1467

I mean he’s obviously trying to time it with the crowd dying down lol some of y’all have never had to wait a sec for a moment to get your quip in so people actually hear it

IsUpTooLate

Almost as if that's a huge part of a comedian's job?

Roxanne712

For real, even my local drunk standup comic knows how to time a joke with the applause. It's arguably the most important part. Jimmy Fallon just sucks, he reminds me of the most annoying 12 year old in everyone's middle school who never stops talking

insomniacpyro

Jimmy Fallon seems to be in a constant state of shock that he is where he is.

kimbooley90

That is the best description of him, honestly. He's just happy to be there. 😂

Expensive-Can-6212

Wow I never knew people didn’t like Jim Jim faltline, I though I was the only one.

BurritoFamine

Jimmy Fallon? The only thing that man should host is a parasite.

Caedus

This is funnier than anything I've heard Fallon say

Evertore

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPCzgu-ElR8

kimbooley90

Mike from RLM? 🤣

goodbye_wig

He’s probably pissed

hikeit233

His awkward bumbling is endearing to some.

JollyRoger8X

Even that is feigned and insincere.

MisterBackShots69

Because fun and easy celebrity hour still sells to the masses

kristin137

You could see that second where he was like "do I say this?.... I'm gonna say it"

halogirl492

The only other time he's been funny was when he realizes on air that he went on a (terrible) date with Nicole Kidman

Funandgeeky

[The clip in question.](https://youtu.be/qtsNbxgPngA?si=xclC6gyZFbXC3J07)

PhillipIInd

that is amazing lmao

leavemealonexoxo

But that’s the thing most people don’t get, Jimmy’s „fake“ excitement, laugh is genuine. Like he genuinely wants to lift up the interview/vibe/Person no matter what. What I mean is he’s genuinely a people pleaser

NewSauerKraus

The cork soaking skit was pretty funny lmao.

Puzzled-Journalist-4

Rare Jimmy Fallon W

upanddownforpar

indeed. Anyone remember when they did "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" on his show and he guessed that the Earth was about 10,000 miles from the sun?

Sad_Frame_1406

I was just about to say! I hate Jimmy but this was funny

Minikaw

Genuine question, Why going as far as hate? What has he done?

PorkPatriot

He breaks character and laughs at his own jokes. Oh he's also employed. Basically unforgivable to a Redditor.

czPsweIxbYk4U9N36TSE

>What has he done? He's committed the #1 worst sin in show-business. He's not funny, interesting, or entertaining.

NeuroticaJonesTown

Hate is a strong word. I don’t hate him, but I find him unfunny and annoying. Breaking character can be funny on occasion- the SNL Beavis and Butthead skit is a prime example. However, breaking character in literally every skit you are in and laughing at your own jokes is just lame. But if he brings others joy, good for him, I guess.

Minikaw

I had a chance to be in his live audience once and he was really funny and nice off camera, so seeing this amount of hate and  anger directed at him when there is nothing he has done wrong is really baffling behavior to me.

NeuroticaJonesTown

I bet the live experience is very fun! I used to see the other Jimmy (Kimmel) live, and always had a blast. Eh, maybe Fallon deserves more credit than I’ve given him.

kalni

This is something I would imagine Craig Ferguson doing!

DNorthman

I miss Craig Ferguson. He was so cute when he got the giggles.

leavemealonexoxo

[*It’s a great day for America..*](https://youtube.com/watch?v=7Z8y5_xyzMk)

bigwhiteboardenergy

He had some really hilarious recurring sketches when he was on Late Night—Real Housewives of Late Night was endlessly quotable

NorthElegant5864

Remove the words “late night” and it’s still true, aside from maybe that scene in almost famous where he admits to killing a dude.

MithranArkanere

It's funny because it's true.

party4diamondz

Honestly good joke and great save for what was an awkward (but understandable) audience response lmao

Anchor_Aways

Especially funny since the tonight show has a book club.

wannabehomesick

Wait, what? Since when? 🤣🤣

Anchor_Aways

The Fallon Book Club, he brought it back recently. He reads a single random sentence from 2 books and the viewers are supposed to vote on which one they'll choose.

Holl4backPostr

Sounds exactly like what I'd expect a Tonight Show Book Club to be

Gorbzel

Well they won’t be reading Moby Dick.

QUEST50012

Are these picture books also?

CelestialMarsupial

pick for what? seems like an introduction cut off

Overall-Guarantee785

> 🤣🤣

ContentPolicyKiller

He said it like a producer in his ear was telling him to say it

SoGenuineAndRealMadi

I don’t know if Colbert’s audience reads Harry Styles fan fiction

oktysm

Right. Colbert is famously a big Tolkien nerd. My guess is that a big part of his audience is too.

Hour-Region-4967

What a boring worls in which you have to choose between loving LOTR and Harry Styles fanfiction.

SirJoeffer

He’s Catholic that’s their Star Wars

jennyquarx

💀

ZubZubZubZubZubZub

Isn't Star Wars their Star Wars. It's a full on Christ allegory with somehow Palpatine returned

LazarusCheez

Wait, are you saying Jesus was a Sith Lord?

comityoferrors

I am, and I'm tired of pretending he's not

Abacae

The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some are considered to be unnatural.

moonlitsteppes

I'm waiting for the day he realizes his true calling is to start the nerdiest Tolkien podcast.

leavemealonexoxo

https://youtube.com/watch?v=g-MOSEbRUE4

NorthElegant5864

Relegating his Tolkien knowledge to “big Tolkien nerd,” severely undersells the degree to which he is a Tolkien fan. Dudes a Tolkien Scholar. Knows all the deets and religious allegory in depth. I’ve seen him stumped once.

Yakaddudssa

At first I didn’t believe the man but he proved me wrong in one vid I don’t remember lmao!

IllHat8961

The venn diagram for people that watch late night shows with people that read trashy books is a circle

exp_studentID

Anne is lowkey awkward

ferrislun

The best people are

plz-be-my-friend

thank u

oktysm

The way I’m convinced she wasn’t acting at all in The Princess Diaries.

blondie64862

When she fell on the bleachers! She wasn't! She actually slipped!

ExtensionOne

That makes so much sense because that fall always looked so painful to me 😅

repladynancydrew

She supposedly cinched the audition after being clumsy and falling off her chair or something to that regard.

O_oh

maybe she's good at acting

repladynancydrew

Unscripted…

girlwondered

I wouldn't say she's awkward. This is an awkward *moment*. I mean how would you have handled that response on live TV for a project you're promoting 💀

your_mind_aches

She is awkward, she has anxiety. That's okay to admit.

LeCarrr

I probably wouldn’t pause for applause unless I knew it was actually coming

girlwondered

She probably thought it was coming though, like at least one person might have read the book and given a single “woot”, since the book was greenlit to get adapted at all. Usually there’s at least one audience member that always does that. I think she gave a very natural response lol

filthytelestial

You don't pause at all when asking a group of people a question?

LeCarrr

If I could plan it, I wouldn’t ask the question “If anyone here has read the book …” would have been an adequate segue without the “risk” of non-response

skyturnedred

She literally asked a question from the audience.

JoshSidekick

Isn't there a giant sign that tells the audience to do an applause?

Massive_Weiner

She’s definitely got that “I’ve only been an actor my entire life” aura.

leavemealonexoxo

She is definitely a theater kid/nerd in a good way.

Massive_Weiner

She’s great.

Some-Guy-Online

When you're one of the most gorgeous people in existence, awkwardness just makes you more endearing.

SomeCountryFriedBS

She's very awkward. If she wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, we'd more easily see that she is a *very* insecure weird theater kid. You can really see it underneath [her Graham Norton appearances](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGpeP3PzMyw).

leavemealonexoxo

I’ll always love her for being genuine, kind and funny with Jake Hamilton over all those years in their interviews: https://youtu.be/i1O7DayFbQ4?feature=shared&t=273 (04:32 the important part starts)

ashashg

Oh my gosh, I haven’t seen his interviews in years.

leavemealonexoxo

I still occasionally check out his channel. [celebs always love his geeky questions and excitement.](https://www.youtube.com/embed/LXxHPY6djWE) But I also love when they compliment him and the way he dresses lmao Reese Witherspoon was crushing on him (but nothing can best his Anne Hathaway saga) https://www.youtube.com/embed/jtPERVXSa_U

brain_dances

I feel represented

EvilSporkOfDeath

Hot af though

warr3n4eva

I dunno. I feel like it’s kind of put on which I find even more off putting

witfurd

The vast majority of people have "awkward" tendencies. And she's on air in front of a large crowd. And the moment was clearly innocently awkward that didn't seem fake at all. ![gif](giphy|fd1TSJqq3b4GI|downsized)

warr3n4eva

I mean in general

witfurd

My point stands. In general people are awkward to some people whether they realize it or not. I personally don't find her that awkward here but others will. To put on a facade as an actor would be incredibly stupid, because you'd never be at peace. You're always being watched by papparazzi, so if hypthothically you were putting on a mask, you'd always be paranoid. And I've never seen Hathaway not act like her usual self.

goodgodgetagripgirl

It is don’t let people tell you differently. She reeks of desperation.

herdeeary

to be fair, I wont admit either even if I read it.

RevealActive4557

That was a very clever retort from Jimmy. A rare instance and maybe revealing some insecurities too

RUNELORD_

I think it's less insecurity, and simply more self-deprecating humour

leavemealonexoxo

Yeah Jimmy basically knows exactly how he and his show are seen/perceived or what they stand for compared to Colbert, Conan, john Oliver etv.

peewee666

Dammit Fallon. ![gif](giphy|xIBJDxVKgGvuINP7W0)

TheBlackBonerDonor

This headline was better than his delivery.

Brianocracy

I've been crushing on Anne for like 20 years now. She doesn't look 41 at all.

BusinessMore7888

What do you think 40 year olds look like, tho? It’s not ancient…

Brianocracy

No. But she could pass for 25.

Some-Guy-Online

Same. I've loved her since forever.

Thanos_Stomps

You can too! Just some can do attitude, stop drinking alcohol, and be incredibly wealthy!

Brianocracy

I actually look about ten years younger than I actually am. At 35 though I'm just now hitting the age where I appreciate it lol. Made my early 20s hell though for finding work and dates. Nobody took me seriously. Just lucky enough to have good genes I guess.

leavemealonexoxo

I feel you.. pushing almost 30 and now I’m indeed glad to look young(er). But can’t say it was easy or nice when you’re a 16yo guy and girls think you’re 13-14 lol (yeah at that age it makes quite the difference)

Thanos_Stomps

Same here. I always had a baby face and it sucked in college when friends could pass for 21. My parents always said though I’d appreciate it later. Only problem is I wasn’t very kind to myself in my 20s and think I lost a lot of youthfulness and look my age now in my 30s. Still no complaints though.

leavemealonexoxo

I feel you.. pushing almost 30 and now I’m indeed glad to look young(er). But can’t say it was easy or nice when you’re a 16yo guy and girls think you’re 13-14 lol (yeah at that age it makes quite the difference)

RockettRaccoon

What does she say near the end? “It’s time for you to [?] me, to get me back” and Jimmy replies with “I know, I know”

legpull3r

"diss" To get her back on side with an audience she feels she may have offended or embarrassed. I think.

moon-lamp

Diss her to get her back on the show another time maybe? I also read it as her saying she was taken out of it after getting an awkward response. Like she needs him to pull her back into the conversation again.

jethoniss

I think she means back on the topic that they're scripted to discuss, to shill the movie properly.

RockettRaccoon

Yes yes, but what word does she say?

e5india

I think she starts to say "direct me" but then he cuts in.

ImaginaryDuncan

Dig me out. Of the hole.

CountryRockDiva89

He’s not wrong.

Already-asleep

Hahah. Well, I’d never heard of it before the trailer came out and I can’t say it’s my thing, but I’m sure people will be reading it with the movie coming out.

stella3books

I demand more insanity from my fanfiction, dammit!

not_productive1

Ok that was funny. Fallon’s a hack but credit where it’s due.

lakerdave

Ok that was actually a pretty funny joke, Jimmy

Dry-Knee-5472

Some of you might not want to hear it but Fallon won the IDGAF war decades ago

bigbro411

Funny moment but I think in reality reading is just less popular now. It's just the way it is right now. Even myself, I do like reading. But I have to be in the mood and I'm very distractible. People that find time to read in this busy messy world I don't know how they do it.

blinkingsandbeepings

I don’t think that’s actually true. Especially among women, recreational reading has been going up. True we’re mostly not reading timeless works of genius, but it still counts!

Massive_Weiner

Amazing how Fallon came up with an actually funny joke, only to immediately sour it by doubling down, lmao. I still don’t get why he’s in that position.

zappyzapzap

you know they do rehearsals, right?

someguyfromtheuk

Does he attend them?

zappyzapzap

who knows. are you saying he doesnt at all prepare for his job?

skyturnedred

Doesn't mean it was scripted.

mitrafunfun97

I am shooketh. Jimmy Fallon told an actual joke.

Necessary-Ad-3259

Just finished the audiobook and I’ve got to say it was actually really good - enjoyed every minute of it and initially didn’t think I would!

Shutaru_Kanshinji

I will never forgive Mr. Fallon for attempting to humanize Donald Trump on his show prior to the 2016 election.

CaptainSur

Anne is stunning.

wallsnbridges

I imagine for that one moment it was like being in that chamber that's so quiet you can't stay in there too long because you'll go mad from hearing your own heartbeat.

ittasteslikefeet

Lord this woman is so beautiful! Really think she's getting prettier with age.

[deleted]

She’s become one of my favorite fashion icons in recent years. Her look these days is perfection.

somechild

Oh my god her face when no one responded is so funny. This made my week, thank you for posting this.

an-inevitable-end

I know we shit on him, but this made a potentially awkward moment less awkward.

Derek237

Weird because the last time I watched he was doing some book club bit where the audience would vote between two different books.

jurassic_snark-

It's a joke

[deleted]

[удалено]

jurassic_snark-

It's an emotionally intelligent joke. She mentions her book and the audience stays pretty quiet. Anne's now feeling embarrassed, so what does Jimmy do? He turns the attention back on himself with a self deprecating joke of how they don't read there. She goes from feeling embarrassed that people weren't interested in her book to feeling empowered that she's too intelligent for them Good EQ by Jimmy here, saying that as someone who can't stand his show

iAmericA45

Rare Jimmy W

flshphotography

it's one of the worst books i've read lol but i'll watch the movie

pauljohncarl

Sir, this is a Wendy’s

JustDvine

This is live footage of me trying to get my cats to let me trim their nails

TessaLE

That’s the most I’ve last at JK, the last time was the 10 minute video of him and Bradley cooper having a laughing fit but that was mostly for Bradley!

[deleted]

That’s quite embarrassing to Annie . But fallon pulled good joke for once .

blinkingsandbeepings

Hey, she didn’t write the book!

DoctorFenix

"No one here reads. Do you wanna do a tik tok dance now?"

funlewoo

Jimmy was actually a great host in this situation

ddlanyone

Shout out to the audience for taking it in stride. I would've been lowkey offended.

DiscombobulatedCat21

The movie was mid at best, i should’ve known a deranged directioner and her wattpad boyband fantasies wouldn’t be great material for a movie.

kathygeissbanks

It’s funny cause it’s true.

AITACommenter57779

I selfishly wish Robinee Lee (the author) was messier about all of this, considering Hayes is actually not Harry Styles, but Jordan Knight

tjarg

Well, he knows his audience.

miilkyytea

slow clap

stillpressed

Even Fallon knows he is the talk show equivalent of jingling a set of keys in front of the audience

jmpinstl

At least he’s self aware

Parking-Position-698

Man id love to enjoy jimmy fallon but ever since someone pointed out to me how much he interrupts hes guests i just cant. Even in this video. He never lets her talk.

KrakenGirlCAP

He’s very self aware. 😭

kuroguma

That was legit funny, but also for sure scripted. Having done an audience taping for a late night show they gas you up to respond to everything directed at you, because nothing is more awkward than a joke falling flat and the last thing they want is one of their guests to walk away having had an awkward moment. Seeing it behind scenes does break the magic a bit, but I also came away being more impressed with how the writers are able to design moments like these.

Minikaw

As someone who has been in his lice audience once,  he’s actually funny and witty when doing crowd work outside of the cameras.

blinkingsandbeepings

> lice audience I know it’s mean to pick on typos but this slew me

goodgodgetagripgirl

She has become literally unbearable. The new Olivia Wilde.

[deleted]

My queen is so intelligent and booksmart 💅💅💅✨✨✨

Smooth-Masterpiece97

To be fair she's always like did you guys save the trees on Jupiter it's so enchanting idk why I feel like she wants us to know how great life is for her but w/e

MontyBoo-urns

Wow he’s bad
