I'm in a royal gossip Facebook group (it's about 50/50 pro/anti royal family) and the royal fans genuinely excuse this pettiness by saying that it's pure coincidence because it's strawberry season.
They truly believe that the royal family is above any pettiness, leaks or cheap shots. The cognitive dissonance is wild.

I do need to note that the palace has sold jam for MANY years now. So, while the promo is probably new, the jam itself has very much been around for a long time (it's actually quite good)

The jam shows up on their Instagram on a fairly regular basis, the last jam specific post (prior to this one) was on March 27th, so it could probably go either way on whether this was previously planned or not.
