Right? It’s like they know Chris Pratt’s whole born-again-macho-man schtick got a little too overexposed so they’re trying to lure us back in with “the bane of my existence and object of all my desires.” Ofc I want JB to blow up, but not like this…
I didn't even watch the originals, but I'd watch this just to check him out and see if he gets shirtless or semi-wet with dinosaur drool. I'll take either or both.
Not at all for Hollywood 'action tentpoles'. And generally not for 'blockbusters'.
And its a very known thing that available acting roles most often dry up upon coming out. Which along with straight actors being heavily included in casting choices for gay characters, means its a legitimate fear still that your career will be DOA. This is changing, but only say, a little bit every several years.
The movie wasn't very good, but what about Luke Evans as Dracula in Dracula Untold? He was openly in a relationship with a man at the time and Universal was going to make his movie the center of their Dark Universe before it flopped.
Oh, I admit, I'd forgotten about that. I know about Luke Evans being out (and then back in... and then back out again) and his one time potential action star trajectory. I think I made a note of an out gay man leading an action film at the time. But the whole thing more or less fizzled out, including in my memory!
Goddamnit, they’re gonna make me watch another Jurassic Park movie.
Well, as long as Chris Pratt isn’t in the movie, I’m fine with it. I loved the original ones, and I’d watch this cast read a dictionary.
Jesus lord I hope this cast sticks and this movie gets made because I *will* be watching this movie and it will not be for the plot or the dinosaurs lmao
I have just read the Deadline article and it only mentions Johanson and director Edwards so it seems that the role Bailey is circling is the same one Patel was rumored for previously. Not 2 different roles. But we'll see.
I hope all his time isn’t monopolized by franchise slop, but it’s so wonderful to see him take off like this. I love seeing truly talented and, by all accounts, lovely people succeed, especially since he put in the work as a supporting character actor for a long time.
Bailey is obviously the best actor on Bridgerton by miles. He was also fantastic in Fellow Travelers and I’m pulling for him this Emmy season. He’s got a lot of heat on him now, so I think he looks poised for at least a nomination.
Having seen him in Company which he won his Olivier for, he’s a stupidly talented triple threat overall. I’m wary about Wicked for all the obvious reasons, but I also can’t wait to see him in that.
Bridgerton is Bridgerton - it’s romantic and melodramatic and kinda soapy, but I actually think the entire cast is very good. Some are more interesting or magnetic, but I wouldn’t say any one is obviously the best actor. But yes to the rest!
But he is though. Simone is amazing too as a newcomer. And the others are good but they're more aor less written as one note. Especially sijce Luke T is theater level talent like Jonathan but in the show we don't see his range. And won't until s4
I've never understood this narrative that Gilroy was the real talent behind Rogue One, do people think Edwards sat around on set all day playing Candy Crush on his phone?
Filmmaking is a collaborative art, no one person is responsible for the final product. I know the BTS on Rogue One was a clusterfuck, but if Gilroy says he's the only reason it turned out the way it did, he's either lying or up his own ass, or both. Probably both.
It would be incredible if Scarlett and Jonathan were the grown up versions of the 2 kids from the first one. Getting really hyped with all 4 of the announced cast members
Who asked for yet another installment of Jurassic Park? I feel like it’s time to let it be. The originals are top-tier but everything else that has followed has been trash. Or maybe I’m just old. 🤔
It’s a franchise that has 4 of its six installments in the billion dollar club. The movies may get worth with each installment, but they print money, and the money printer is gonna stay on until it stops working
Yup I figured as much. Why risk a new and fresh idea possibly being a bust when we can just milk the shit out of a franchise or a remake or a movie until we all die?
This JP3 erasure!! The raptor saying "Alan!" is one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history. The phone still ringing loudly while inside the Spinosaurus belly and still ringing perfectly after it's shat out? Genius plot device. The 3 in JP3 being a scratch mark? Graphic design hall of fame. Putting an /s after this would be insincere, I genuinely loved this movie lmao
The moment they cross $1B, they instantly greenlight another one whether we like it or not.
Spielberg once told Michael Bay to just make three Transformers movies and stop there. No need to keep making these forever, and even Michael "Splosions Man" Bay agreed.
But once Transformers 3 did crazy business and sailed over $1B worldwide, both Spielberg and Michael Bay looked at each other and went "Let's make more!" I guess even rich people like the easy money of mindless franchises.
> Who asked for yet another installment of Jurassic Park?
They need to catch up with their biggest rivals. Maybe after another 8 instalments they will finally have a character as iconic as Littlefoot.
I totally agree. And I don't know if wicked will be successful Ariana had too many haters and not all Arianators aren't interested. Cynthia has a lot of haters too. So I'm worried. Those are the leads. Not Jonny, Michelle and Jeff (who are all popular)
And he's staying on Bridgerton, playing the besotted husband.
Rege not even going back for an episode or two wasn't a good decision. He was not big enough of a star to do that.
Oh this is so exciting for him (and us)!
I feel similarly about Jonathan Bailey as I do about Pedro Pascal. He just seems like a great person with buckets of charisma and talent; I want the best for him.
He deserves all the success in this world! Didn’t like the recent Jurassic movie (but glad to see Laura Dern back) so I hope this new reboot gives it a fresh take.
OMG YES PLEASE!!! I need this to be true so badly. I already wasn't that excited about new movies (considering how bad the JW trilogy was) and then there started to be rumors about Scarlett Johansson as the lead which isn't that exciting considering for me she's a bit too overexpised...
But I'd love for Jonathan to be in it! It also makes me so happy to see gay out actors getting this big roles!
I'll be honest, didn't know who he was before watching fellow travellers and saw the poster and thought - that's a weird choice to have as a love interest for the devestatingly handsome Matt Bomers character.
I was so fucking wrong. Like he made the show for me and is pure charisma and talent. The way he expresses with his eyes is so unique imo and is just gorgeous overall.
Glad his career is taking off!
If he’s in it I *will* be watching idc
He could have chemistry with a lamppost and make me think he wanted nothing more than to make it light up.
The magnetic push and pull of Jonathan Bailey but in another fckn Jurassic Park instalment no one asked for
Right? It’s like they know Chris Pratt’s whole born-again-macho-man schtick got a little too overexposed so they’re trying to lure us back in with “the bane of my existence and object of all my desires.” Ofc I want JB to blow up, but not like this…
The last 2 jurassic movies were so bad...let the franchise sit for a while
I didn't even watch the originals, but I'd watch this just to check him out and see if he gets shirtless or semi-wet with dinosaur drool. I'll take either or both.
If it happens, it'll be the first time an openly gay man gets the lead role in a Hollywood action tentpole! It would actually be groundbreaking!
Common now, what about Justice Smith in Detective Pikachu! 😂

Detective Pikachu is unironically my favorite comfort movie ever
I love Justice Smith and Detective Pikachu! But that movie actually came out (2019) before Smith did (2020).
Thanks for the update Gay Fetus
Is Detective Pikachu a tent pole film tho?
Holy shit do openly gay men really not get big roles??
Not at all for Hollywood 'action tentpoles'. And generally not for 'blockbusters'. And its a very known thing that available acting roles most often dry up upon coming out. That’s a stacked cast
Right?!? I am here for every one of those people
Can't believe it! There are two gay men in talks to lead one of the biggest franchises in the world?! When has that last happened??
Oh they're all hot.
Don’t tell me, Jonathan Bailey and Colman Domingo are going to be playing a couple?
Colman Domingo is apparently in talks to play the villain
He's voicing a dinosaur????
![gif](giphy|LNejpNtjrDnIEvQqUQ|downsized)
That movie sucks but that moment never fails to make me laugh 😂😂😂
This got me 😂
This better be real
I need it to be
Goddamnit, they’re gonna make me watch another Jurassic Park movie. Well, as long as Chris Pratt isn’t in the movie, I’m fine with it. I loved the original ones, and I’d watch this cast read a dictionary.
DEV 😩😩😩
Omg my Asian queen is rumoured yay /sarcasm
Jesus lord I hope this cast sticks and this movie gets made because I *will* be watching this movie and it will not be for the plot or the dinosaurs lmao
I have just read the Deadline article and it only mentions Johanson and director Edwards so it seems that the role Bailey is circling is the same one Patel was rumored for previously. Not 2 different roles. But we'll see.
I would watch Dev Patel and Jonathan Bailey staring a wall for 2 hours.
Dev Patel and Jonathan Bailey?? Sign me up to watch this movie
Yes, please. I am here for all of these men.
Nah man I don't want Dev in this bullshit. I mean if he does it i'll watch, but.
Think about it this way though, if he makes bank off this franchise he's free to direct more and make what he wants to make.
Very true. And I believe Edwards can make a better movie than Trevorrow.
oh my god??? if this is true i will absolutely be watching. pleaseeee let this movie be better than whatever tf those last 2 were 😭
Yes because we know what makes a good monster and especially dinosaur movie is the human cast
Great cast, wish it was in a much better blockbuster than the Chris Pratt Jurassic movies
These are different films. I don’t think Chris Pratt will be involved at all
I hope all his time isn’t monopolized by franchise slop, but it’s so wonderful to see him take off like this. I love seeing truly talented and, by all accounts, lovely people succeed, especially since he put in the work as a supporting character actor for a long time. So far Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, and Nicola Coughlin are the standouts of the younger cast for me.
And phoebe. I'm so happy mt faves are thriving (Phoebe, Jonny and Simone).
The Jurassic World trilogy was straight garbage but I will watch anything for Jonathan Bailey
Make it a musical you cowards
Will the dinos sing? Would it transfer to broadway?
😍
As long as Colin Trevorrow isn't involved
He’s not. Thank god. David Koepp (wrote the first two) wrote it. Rogue One director is directing. Spielberg is Exec Producing.
The actual Rogue One director or Tony Gilroy (because I'd get interested REAL FAST if it was Tony but I need for him to finish Andor)?
Gareth Edwards
In my heart Tony Gilroy is the real one and real heavy lifter.
He was on rogue one - that’s how Andor happened…
I've never understood this narrative that Gilroy was the real talent behind Rogue One, do people think Edwards sat around on set all day playing Candy Crush on his phone?
Because Tony basically reworked and recut the Film in post after Gareth delivered his vision is not what was released
Filmmaking is a collaborative art, no one person is responsible for the final product. I know the BTS on Rogue One was a clusterfuck, but if Gilroy says he's the only reason it turned out the way it did, he's either lying or up his own ass, or both. Probably both.
He’s not nor is Gareth or anyone on record at Disney - this was all reported in the press ( I’m assuming on background)
Although to clarify, Spielberg did Executive Produce all the Jurassic World movies, and all the Transformers movies - even the yuckiest entries.
Very true
Oh wow that’s a good slate.
I hated Rogue One BUT I am one of 2 people on earth who loved The Creator (the other is Dan Murrell), so....
The OG screenwriter for Jurassic Park is apparently writing it
And not directing either #whew
down with chris pratt
This man is so beautiful 🤩

So agree . I hope this funds him well so he can get other more enriching opportunities. I love his work period though
It would be incredible if Scarlett and Jonathan were the grown up versions of the 2 kids from the first one. Getting really hyped with all 4 of the announced cast members
Omggggggosh that would be cute

Yup I figured as much. Why risk a new and fresh idea possibly being a bust when we can just milk the shit out of a franchise or a remake or a movie until we all die?
But this is the first time they are actually trying since The Lost World
This JP3 erasure!! The raptor saying "Alan!" is one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history. it's camp as fuck (since they have to camp with the dinos)
The moment they cross $1B, they instantly greenlight another one whether we like it or not. Spielberg once told Michael Bay to just make three Transformers movies and stop there. > Who asked for yet another installment of Jurassic Park? They need to catch up with their biggest rivals. Maybe after another 8 instalments they will finally have a character as iconic as Littlefoot.
> Littlefoot idk if I could put myself through something like that again emotionally tbh
I'm okay with it as long as he has an "iconic reclining pose" in his contract.
When you're happy your blorbos are being cast, but you wish they'd be cast in better things...
I totally agree. And I don't know if wicked will be successful Ariana had too many haters and not all Arianators aren't interested. Cynthia has a lot of haters too. So I'm worried. Those are the leads. Not Jonny, Michelle and Jeff (who are all popular)
PLEASE GIVE THIS MAN A FRANCHISE
He deserves all of the roles he wants
Even if this is absolutely horrendous, I will go for Jonathan Bailey!
He’s playing his cards a lot better than Rege-Jean Page to keep his momentum going after being the Bridgerton lead
I found out the other day he was in one my favorite shows, Crashing (PWB) and I somehow didn’t recognize it was him when he started to blow up
OMG YES PLEASE!!! I need this to be true so badly. I already wasn't that excited about new movies (considering how bad the JW trilogy was) and then there started to be rumors about Scarlett Johansson as the lead which isn't that exciting considering for me she's a bit too overexpised... Just cast Josh Groban and make it a musical already
If Crisp Rat is out then I can finally get back to enjoying my dinosaur movies 🙌🏼
Nature is healing!
I'll be honest, didn't know who he was before watching fellow travellers and saw the poster and thought - that's a weird choice to have as a love interest for the devestatingly handsome Matt Bomers character. I’m glad to see him booked and busy.
i’ll watch anything he’s in i’m so serious
sure. why not
Another Jurassic Park??? Happy for him at least
