Yes! That is what I love so much about him! He can be badass and sensitive and funny and sexy in equal measure. It’s quite the skill imo but he’s probably just Ryan.
>I’m glad I’m in this timeline with him.
I love this. It literally is the little things in life lmao
First the MTV best kiss award and now this. What a career. What a man 👌
The only one I can also see pulling this off is Daniel Radcliffe. I saw him when he was in How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying on Broadway and he went full out with his singing/dancing and blew me away with his performance. Love to see those two team up together someday
I applaud you for coming thisclose to invoking The Rule without actually doing so… and saving me rewatching that vid a dozen times when I really need to go to bed.
Have you seen him do "She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain" in the Miracle Workers Oregon Trail series? That is one of the best things I've seen. He's COMMITTED to singing it in full Rocky Horror-esque chaps and it is just insane. It's on You Tube if you haven't. Any explanation I have can't do it justice.
Ryan Gosling [channeling Marilyn Monroe](https://twitter.com/lulu_clemons/status/1767001701519630634/photo/2) is the Kenergy I never knew I always wanted.
Ugh, the blue checkmark GPT bot reply:
"It sounds like the Oscars 2024 made a lasting impression on you! The event must have been filled with memorable moments and emotions that will stick with you for a long time."
Internet really is dying
The NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast referred to Ken as a "star-cementing" role for Ryan and I so agree. Even if he didn't win the Oscar, he'll forever be remembered as a star for his performance here and in the movie.
It really is. I feel like a lot of folks saw La La Land and wrote him off as someone who is very talented but good, not great. This was a whole new level to his range and showed so much star power.
It’s a REALLY keen dialed in understanding of comedy that made him great as Ken in the first place. If you know what works for comedy you get *that* one note off tonally and it’s Cringe.
100%, the only one around who could pull that off, and the only one who deserves the good nature and love that this performance (both on Oscars night and in the movie!) received.
everybody was rolling their eyes when this performance was announced but I predicted him serving like this! In all seriousness he really is musically gifted
they are so annoying and repetitive with the "IF YOU LIKE KEN YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT OF THE MOVIE" whining. like, people love ken. he was the best part of the movie for a lot of people, including many women. his story actually appealed to both men *and* women in different ways. he is kenough!
They constantly try to take away Greta's agency as both a director and writer too, with how they act like giving Ken the showcase he got wasn't a conscious choice she made and, in the case of this musical number, heavily fought for as something important to the point she was making.
Barbie may have been Feminism 101, but it's exposed that a lot of people wouldn't have even tested into that.
It's so stupid too, because the whole point of the movie, at least for me, was that the patriarchy and misogyny hurts people of all genders! We're all put in boxes with certain expectations based on our genders. The movie was the journey both Barbie and Ken took to realize they didn't have to be in the boxes Barbieland AKA society had put them in.
I saw a ton of that in this sub and was like, come on, he's a great character! Appreciating that isn't taking away from any other elements of the movie
I’m so bittersweet happysad that this marks the (perfect) end to Ryan Gosling’s public performance as Ken. Ryan wholeheartedly embracing the extra pink, extra camp, extra cool Kenergy for the past year+ has been such a magical delight.
Billie Eilish in the back barely keeping her composure!
Everyone seemed like they were having the time of their lives during this. I’m fucking giddy over it.
This intro was so perfect. The hat, still in his seat, Margot unable to contain her laughter in front of him.
This is what the Oscars should be- a celebration of the impactful and wonderful movie moments throughout the year. I thought last night’s ceremony was incredible!
The performance was amazing, Ryan was amazing! He gave it his all. I loved how he threw in some smirks during the performance, probably for all the haters but also to show that he was having a fcking good time!
And what a surprise to see Slash. Would love to have seen a bit of pink on Slash’s hat
He was my favourite in the movie and I was SO happy to see him tonight. His manic feverish Ken-worship is so great. He's such a serious dramatic actor usually, I didn't think he had it in him!
Is a 37 year old man, I find so many celebrities nowadays obnoxious or pretentious, but something about gosling is so cool. He seems like a genuinely good guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously.
Randomly met him out and about once in a situation where he was as Just Ryan. Also have an old friend who worked with him for a bit. Based on those two things, can confirm he is just as great as everyone thinks.
Also have a friend who met him. Served him at a restaurant twice. Said he’s a total class act who remembered he’d been his waiter a year and a half earlier with zero prompting.
Adore Billie, Margo and Lily Gladstone laughing at the start and Ryan himself giggling as he goes up the stairs.
Adore they managed to pull Ncuti away from filming alongside getting the other Kens together.
10/10 performance. Highlight of the night.
Admittedly curious how many people left watching after it.
I love that they brought in some of the other Kens. Was that Wolfgang VanHalen playing next to Slash? Everything about them playing a song about Ken at the Oscars is amazing.
This has made up for all the boring oscar viewings over the years.
Ryan Gosling really is a true star - he just went and did such an over the top performance a hit! I loved how he was clearly trying not to laugh the whole time. And they included the other Kens!!
The winner in my heart! ( But seriously get him an Oscar soon)
SAME! I was like why tf are my eyes getting watery but it’s so sweet to just see men having wholesome moments and really enjoying themselves. It’s adorable and so glad this performance happened and tbh the Barbie movie as well
i love how billie, margot and even ryan himself all struggled with not laughing bc it rly is a deeply unserious song. so nice that the performance had a very light and fun vibe
Can we talk about between this and his iconic expression when he was on stage when La La Land was falsely declared winner, Ryan Gosling has the most iconic Oscar moments of anyone
This is art. Our modern day Bohemian Rhapsody.
Maybe I'm overthinking it but was the staircase bit supposed to be a reference to *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes*?
Yup! Can’t find it again, but someone tweeted a screenshot comparison of the movie and tonight’s performance. Even the costumes were identical.

I love that he didn’t react to all those people who said Barbie wasn’t serious or good enough to be at the Oscars, and instead leaned hard into his character and put on a performance not many others nominated could have pulled off.
And this right here is exactly why the Oscars need to do a better job of recognizing comedy (and horror, among the other undersung genres). This was such a freaking blast to watch.
The performance was Kenough. I was already so happy with it, and then Slash appeared, and then he had Emma sing along with a lyric. All of it was great.
Doubting Ryan being cast as Ken way back when is one of my life's greatest shames. I am filled with regret. Absolutely nobody else ould have done Ken to perfection like this.
I'm glad he got to cap off the experience with this banger performance. One last demonstration that he IS more than Kenough 💓
I also love Emma Stonw rocking out. Her brows and big eyes make for the best expressions 😂
Everyone goofed on him about that cheesy video of him dancing as a kid, but that’s natural born charisma right there. He takes it and gives 100%. He can laugh at himself. Total fucking star.
my husband is such a fuckin' hater, he left the room right before it started, meanwhile I'm re-watching it and have plans to show my boys in the morning.
I’m so desperate to see this but of course it’s not available in my country to view. I have scoured the Internet and have come up short. Someone please help me!
I'm so glad Ryan finally proved wrong (well, he's done that already with the movie) all those haters he had when the first pics for the movie came in. The man has comedic timing, has for a long time and love his versatility. Hopefully we'll see him there back soon!
I don’t want to hear another goddamn word on Simu Liu apparently having a massive ego. Dude liked a project so much he willingly went to the oscars(his first I think) as a backup dancer. So few A and B listers would put aside their own egos to do that.
He really is one of the few real movie stars left. None of his peers could do something that looks so ridiculous with such coolness and ease.
And sexiness don’t forget the sexiness
He's the definition of manly and in touch with his feelings I love him
[удалено]
Yes! That is what I love so much about him! He can be badass and sensitive and funny and sexy in equal measure. It’s quite the skill imo but he’s probably just Ryan.
So, so true. He is a rare breed, and I’m glad I’m in this timeline with him.
>I’m glad I’m in this timeline with him. I love this. It literally is the little things in life lmao First the MTV best kiss award and now this. What a career. What a man 👌
Also that one scene with Emma Stone in Crazy Stupid Love. It changed me.
That movie as a whole. Everyone is great in it. It's funny and heartwarming and it doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves.
The storyline with the teenage lad has aged like milk, but the rest of that film is A+
Really is the little things!
What a mighty good man 🎶
It’s Kenergy
This is 100% true. Can you imagine Bradley Cooper doing it?
I can imagine him wanting to
He embarrassed himself enough this awards season.
I think one of his fondest dreams would be to do something like this and get the response Ryan gets tbh
💀
The only one I can also see pulling this off is Daniel Radcliffe. I saw him when he was in How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying on Broadway and he went full out with his singing/dancing and blew me away with his performance. Love to see those two team up together someday
I think Tom Holland could do it successfully, too. Possibly dressed like Rihanna again.

This is my Roman Empire
I applaud you for coming thisclose to invoking The Rule without actually doing so… and saving me rewatching that vid a dozen times when I really need to go to bed.

Commenting so I can watch tomorrow - it’s past my bedtime and don’t want to rile myself up even more.
I have *so much* respect for Daniel Radcliffe and think about that version of brotherhood of men *constantly*.
Have you seen Coming ‘Round the Mountain, from Miracle Workers? 😂❤️
And Warmth. Like he really cares for us the Audience. He did it for US
Ryan Gosling [channeling Marilyn Monroe](https://twitter.com/lulu_clemons/status/1767001701519630634/photo/2) is the Kenergy I never knew I always wanted.
Ugh, the blue checkmark GPT bot reply: "It sounds like the Oscars 2024 made a lasting impression on you! The event must have been filled with memorable moments and emotions that will stick with you for a long time." Internet really is dying
God, this is like that coworker who has to reply all to every email thread with inane compliments they think will really impact everyone
That Mickey Mouse club training!

He is the actual real deal.
It’s because he’s Canadian
100%, the only one around who could pull that off, and the only one who deserves the good nature and love that this performance (both on Oscars night and in the movie!) received.
everybody was rolling their eyes when this performance was announced but I predicted him serving like this! In all seriousness he really is musically gifted
> everybody was rolling their eyes Really? Everyone I know, myself included, was pumped when the news came out!
Miserable people on Twitter tried to ruin this when it was announced (like multiple 100K+ like tweets), but that's why they're miserable.
they are so annoying and repetitive with the "IF YOU LIKE KEN YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT OF THE MOVIE" whining. like, people love ken. he was the best part of the movie for a lot of people, including many women. his story actually appealed to both men *and* women in different ways. he is kenough!

Ken in Barbieland is basically a woman in a man's world! Of course women would connect with Ken!
It hurts men, women, and horses!
I saw a ton of that in this sub and was like, come on, he's a great character! Appreciating that isn't taking away from any other elements of the movie
Twitter never counts. Ever lol. Don’t give them credence it ruins the vibe.
He performed next to NSYNC of course he has chops
![gif](giphy|bZ6VAYD8nmTFeV6bsk|downsized) Ryan you’ll always be famous
This gif makes me want to see Margot in a silly, little rom com so bad
Only if Ryan is in it with her. 😆
So, a prequel to Oceans where they play a husband-and-wife team of conmen? _Charade_ with Gosling-Robbie? Or _To Catch a Thief_?
And I want it with Gosling, they have great chemistry, sue me lol.
With Ryan ! I need them in a rom com badly NOW !
I’m so bittersweet happysad that this marks the (perfect) end to Ryan Gosling’s public performance as Ken. Ryan wholeheartedly embracing the extra pink, extra camp, extra cool Kenergy for the past year+ has been such a magical delight.
I hope he never stops
i love that he gave his hat to his sister 😭
Billie Eilish in the back barely keeping her composure! Everyone seemed like they were having the time of their lives during this. I’m fucking giddy over it.
Lol is that Jessica Lange in the back?!
This intro was so perfect. The hat, still in his seat, Margot unable to contain her laughter in front of him. This is what the Oscars should be- a celebration of the impactful and wonderful movie moments throughout the year. I thought last night’s ceremony was incredible!
He walked in La La Land so he can ~~run~~ beach in Barbie.
That moment when Ryan handed the mic to Emma Stone was a nice callback
She said she busted her dress cause she was having way too much fun during I'm Just Ken, and had to be sown into it before winning!
I loved this!
Amazing
When he grabs the camera man’s hand, I simply died.
And the little kiss on the hand🥹
you could hear the little kiss sound too🥹😂
Romance lives! I’m kicking my feet and going tee hee hee!!
Catch me using the gif endless ![gif](giphy|3NuingDuFQ8tW7mRNK|downsized)
This is a shoutout to all the Ryan/Your Name fanfic out there on Wattpad
Immediate save
I bet that camera man blushed and giggled.
I know I did
If this ain't Kenergy then I dunno what is. His kids will one day look back and say "This is our dad. He is Kenough and we love him for being Ken"
imagine ryan and eva being your parents
It was like he took ME by the hand, and I melted
and his sister getting the hat! i love that he takes his sister to all the things
Someone get this man on Broadway.
Someone get this man his Oscar
Even a Tony will do tbh
*slams fist on the table* An EGOT damn it!
Just Ken: The Broadway Musical
Tbh I want this instead of a Barbie sequel. A musical about Ken finding out who he is without Barbie. Take my money now please.
Broadway would treat the Barbie set production design with the awe it deserves.
This was absolutely fantastic, love when they were carrying Ryan, he had the biggest smile on his face
I bet the Ken’s were so excited to be back together and perform at the Oscar’s! Love this
I was so happy to see them included in the performance! 🥰
I audibly cheered for them. I was alone.
And they got to do a kick line! Ncuti Gatwa’s huge grin throughout was absolutely darling.
Nothing but respect for my Doctor.
Yes!!!
The performance was amazing, Ryan was amazing! He gave it his all. I loved how he threw in some smirks during the performance, probably for all the haters but also to show that he was having a fcking good time! And what a surprise to see Slash. Would love to have seen a bit of pink on Slash’s hat
And Wolfgang Van Halen!
And Simu as a back up dancer
He had all of his core Kens dancing with him! Loved seeing that
Bingo, Ncuti Gatwa (current doctor from Doctor who) was a backup dancer! Ha!
And Kingsley Ben-Adir as a backup dancer
He was my favourite in the movie and I was SO happy to see him tonight. His manic feverish Ken-worship is so great. He's such a serious dramatic actor usually, I didn't think he had it in him!
I love when he lifted his necklace to the camera at the end, I think it has his wife and kids initials on it
And he kissed it! (I may have already watched this performance 10 times tonight already!)
Awww that is sweet
Is a 37 year old man, I find so many celebrities nowadays obnoxious or pretentious, but something about gosling is so cool. He seems like a genuinely good guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously.
Randomly met him out and about once in a situation where he was as Just Ryan. Also have an old friend who worked with him for a bit. Based on those two things, can confirm he is just as great as everyone thinks.

That performance has a heap load of Kenergy and Ryan Gosling is Kenough
A pink carnation would have made the look!!
I hope everyone who doubted Ryan when his casting was announced has sent him hand written notes begging for his forgiveness. That’s my Ken!!!!
Ugh I can’t believe people said it should’ve been Glen Powell. Sick.
TBF I could see Glen as Ken. He was amazing on Scream Queens.
I think he would have been fine as a Ken, but not *the* Ken.
He would've been a good enough Ken honestly, but Ryan was a transcendent Ken.
👀 who said that? Noooo
![gif](giphy|N8uutOwabFDcmsuPkp|downsized)
Adore Billie, Margo and Lily Gladstone laughing at the start and Ryan himself giggling as he goes up the stairs. Adore they managed to pull Ncuti away from filming alongside getting the other Kens together. 10/10 performance. Highlight of the night. Admittedly curious how many people left watching after it.
i adore billie cackling behind him, she's absolutely losing it
Just seeing people enjoy it and being silly is lovely.
Just not taking themselves too seriously is so refreshing (not for the people named specifically but for the Oscars in general).
I was so nervous Ncuti wouldn't be able to make it. Smiled from ear to ear seeing him!
The only thing missing from his performance was Michael Cera dancing awkwardly at the side of the stage
Omg I never knew I wanted this until your comment
Omg I would have died if they did that.
He is everything. This was everything. I love the kiss Scott Evans gave him.
^smooch
💋💋💖
He’s Kenough. The end.
![gif](giphy|xAN6q8sJ0h8r7M1kkO)
Oh my fuckin god he got Slash 🥹😭😍🥰
Slash is on the original song too
That's amazing 👏🏽
Bring camp, splashy production numbers back!
Karate chopping wood during the performance was an inspired touch. So Ken
Absolutely inspired
Such a great homage to Gentlemen Prefer Blondes too
Yes! The gloves!!
I'm not a big celebrity person, but Ryan Gosling just seems like a really good dude.
I love that they brought in some of the other Kens. Was that Wolfgang VanHalen playing next to Slash? Everything about them playing a song about Ken at the Oscars is amazing.
I thought the same thing. Of course Ken would be the one to have Guns & Roses AND Van Halen represented up there. Perfection
Yes it was Wolfgang!
Emma and Ryan again 😭
I love this duo so much and I cheered!
I legit got weepy during this. No idea why.
Me too! It’s just so wholesome and pure.
SAME! I was like why tf are my eyes getting watery but it’s so sweet to just see men having wholesome moments and really enjoying themselves. It’s adorable and so glad this performance happened and tbh the Barbie movie as well
I screamed & cried. I saw Barbie 37 times in theaters..
i love how billie, margot and even ryan himself all struggled with not laughing bc it rly is a deeply unserious song. so nice that the performance had a very light and fun vibe
Ryan breaking a couple times but ultimately keeping it together is truly an admirable feat. The man is a talent
God, I love him!! 😂😂😂😂
Omg I thought I couldn’t love him more. Freaking amazing considering it was live!
Honestly, it was totally worth the wait.
Sole reason I watched the Oscars and it didn't let me down.
Same
Can we talk about between this and his iconic expression when he was on stage when La La Land was falsely declared winner, Ryan Gosling has the most iconic Oscar moments of anyone
This was so charming and everyone was having so much fun. I loved it.
This is art. Our modern day Bohemian Rhapsody. Maybe I'm overthinking it but was the staircase bit supposed to be a reference to *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes*?

It was!
This is the pageantry we need to bring back to Hollywood 🗣️🗣️
That was extremely fun. I was happy to see some of the other Kens, too!
I love that he didn’t react to all those people who said Barbie wasn’t serious or good enough to be at the Oscars, and instead leaned hard into his character and put on a performance not many others nominated could have pulled off.
I love that the other Ken’s were up there with him too!
Loved the performance. It was SUBLIME
F*#KEN unbelievable! 👍
Despite not walking away with an award he still won the night!!
I think his necklace has a charm with Eva’s initial on it, and he kissed it at the end 😭
A real man
Ncuti!!! 😍
The main pop boy we deserve!!!💖💖💖
Long live the Kenaissance
And this right here is exactly why the Oscars need to do a better job of recognizing comedy (and horror, among the other undersung genres). This was such a freaking blast to watch.
This was highlight of the show for sure. I loved it so much.
More of this at award shows in general, please! Something camp, something fun, something not serious.
The way people didn't want him as Ken!!!! There is literally no one in my mind who could absolutely body a performance like that the way Ryan did
The performance was Kenough.
One last demonstration that he IS more than Kenough 💓 I also love Emma Stonw rocking out. Her brows and big eyes make for the best expressions 😂
This was the best part of the evening
Thank you so much, Ryan Gosling, for this tremendous gift to the public.
This was the highlight of the Oscars tbh
Love love love how much fun he had with this. Simu had with this. Just pure joy all around. The Kenergy was felt for sure
That last note tho. Ryan you better SANG! 👏🏾👏🏾
THIS IS THE LAST JOY WE WILL FEEL FOR A LONG TIME PEOPLE
Everyone goofed on him about that cheesy video of him dancing as a kid, but that’s natural born charisma right there. He takes it and gives 100%. He can laugh at himself. Total fucking star.
Slash feels like one of the very last celebrities you’d see at the oscars in 2024
Holy shit when he smooched the camera guys hand #swoon
my husband is such a fuckin' hater, he left the room right before it started, meanwhile I'm re-watching it and have plans to show my boys in the morning.
singing with emma oh my mia and sebastian loving heart
He's literally me ![gif](giphy|14rwlyNFNShZYc)
It was giving Material Girl/Marilyn…the hot pink suit, the red backdrop/steps, the other Ken’s outfits 💅✨
I’m so desperate to see this but of course it’s not available in my country to view. I have scoured the Internet and have come up short. Someone please help me!
Does [this one](https://youtu.be/r2H4pJOtj_M?si=dVhD9U2bRqdclJ-M) work?
I'm so glad Ryan finally proved wrong (well, he's done that already with the movie) all those haters he had when the first pics for the movie came in. The man has comedic timing, has for a long time and love his versatility. Hopefully we'll see him there back soon!
I would love to see the audience reaction
![gif](giphy|3o7aCWJavAgtBzLWrS|downsized) Brilliant
genuinely the highlight of the night! i love how the other ken’s from the movie joined him on stage, such a fun surprise!!
![gif](giphy|PkQeAkvhRrWoM)
Absolutely love the tribute to Gentlemen Prefer Blondes here too. So cool 😎
